  1. You can get a Toshiba Portege Ultrabook from Best Buy for around that price in the 13 inch size. The Excite tablet is trash. I haven't seen a single thing compared to ANY other tablet to make it stand out and the skin Toshiba puts on top of Android is a headache.
  2. Oh, damn. I didn't even...ugh. SORRY.
  3. SPOILERS: Interesting read and theory. http://maskofreason....n-the-avengers/
  4. The animation is different but I absolutely loved that. I am SUPER excited for more.
  5. I wasn't meaning to imply the movies were comic mirrors, but if you read the comics all or in part, the movies not only make a lot more sense but also don't get attacked for following the formula.
  6. I'm curious how much of the comics and back story has actually been read around here.
  7. Omega, it's a comic book movie. Most of the time, the good guys win. The times they don't are usually in direct relation to real world events, like 9/11. Otherwise it's SOOOO ridiculously off the wall movie wise. House Of M, Age of Apocalypse, Civil War, etc. Those could be done in multiple movies but they also encompass the entire Marvel universe. These movies are also the beginnings of things for these franchises. You didn't see Tony Stark as an alcoholic in the first Iron Man. Hulk hasn't been shot into space by the Illuminati. Also, good job on the spoilers in the middle of your post.
  8. Some of you guys, I swear. The movie was absolutely fantastic. That's it. Stay after the credits as usual.
  9. That looks really, really nice. Wish the prices weren't skyrocketing with every release. =\
  10. The only thing that would have made that last scene better was Vader in the pose the trooper had.
  11. Most digital download copies of games come with the same digital content their SE/CE counter parts do. I wouldn't worry too much on that front.
  12. Gizmodo gets major kudos today. http://gizmodo.com/5892971/this-may-be-the-coolest-night-landing-scene-in-the-history-of-aviation
  13. Unless there is some sort of special key set on the unit like on some of the Asus or Toshiba models for quick boot or power boost, no. A clean install will work just fine. Otherwise, you need to find those drivers from the manufacturer and reinstall them later anyway.
  14. I'm not defending anything either, I'm just pointing out sources and things I've read here or there. I do agree that a bunch of stuff that would have made the movie a little easier to swallow for the hard core fan shouldn't have been on the special features of the bluray or a comic only a "handful" of people who saw the movie would read. That being said, even as a pretty big fan I enjoyed the movie because it put a fresh face on Star Trek and gave it the kick start it needed. I personally chalk the Enterprise looking different up to reboot magic and it doesn't bother me at all. Chiming in on the comment about Titanic and Avatar too. You have to realize that Titanic wasn't about a ships tragic end because stupidity, arrogance and the loss of life associated with that. It was a chick flick with Leonardo Decaprio that every (and I say this with as much love as I can muster for my own girlfriend) sniveling, cheese loving, love story absorbing girly girl made their man take them to see. It's that simple. Twilight isn't as stupidly popular as it is because it's a phenomenal story. Avatar, yes, was a rehash of 35 other stories and was predictable and really, as far as the story was concerned, nothing new. However, it was visually striking, beautiful and as movies goes another step in the right direction with the technologies used to make them. I recall an interview with James Cameron stating that the story wasn't his focus anyway. I didn't watch that movie up to a 10th time for the story. I watched it because it's really great to look at. I have a lot of other friends who have done the same thing. Hell, I saw it theaters 4 times. That said, it too was a love story and even as thinly veiled as it was, you have to accept that it was another movie that had boyfriends being dragged along kicking and screaming to see, possibly more than once. Not to mention kids. I never think it's as cut and dry as "America" when it comes to movies that make a billion dollars and Hollywood thus thinking they can pull one over on us time and time again, it's just tweens, and the silly boys who pay for them.
  15. According to Memory Alpha there was a bunch of information on the bluray about those upgrades. One of the writers says that the reason the technology of the Federation is better is because of reversed engineered scans of the Narada taken from the Kelvin. "The scans the Kelvin took of the Narada's 24th century technology (that went with the survivors on the shuttles) were used by 23rd century Starfleet to reverse engineer the more "advanced" technology seen in the alternate timeline, according to a post by Star Trek screenwriter Roberto Orci on Ain't It Cool News. Director J.J. Abrams also said in an interview with MTV that readings from the Narada "inspired ideas and technology that wouldn't have advanced otherwise." 'In the Star Trek prequel comic book miniseries Star Trek: Countdown, the Narada's advanced weaponry and appearance are explained as being the result of the ship being retrofitted with salvaged and reverse-engineered Borg technology. The Tal Shiar in the 24th century had been experimenting with Borg technology, and Nero's ship was the experimental vessel used. The Borg nanoprobes allowed the ship to grow and repair itself, and also take on a much larger and more menacing appearance. This information also appeared on the Blu-ray release of the film in the supplement section "Starships."
  16. Isn't it mentioned somewhere that until Wolf 359 the Federation wasn't super worried about having a large "militarized" force? I could be wrong, but even without it being said, it's a pretty plausible reason for them to start pumping out ships at a much larger rate. All of that said, you have to realize that Nero's ship was the most advanced ship in the galaxy in the 24th century. He laid would have laid waste to any number of ships set upon him in the 23rd.
  17. Shop around for that model a bit more if you already haven't. There are a few G74 configurations out there for different vendors including Asus directly. One of them comes with a SSD and generally doesn't cost a lot more from what I've seen. If space is an issue, it has a second hard drive bay either way. Great system otherwise. A buddy of mine has last years model with the ATI chipset and it's a very solid machine.
  18. If anyone happens to be looking for a copy of Office 2010 Professional or Home & Business, drop me a pm.
  19. So's like, I posted in the Christmas thread about it but I actually got what I wanted! An Nvidia brand GTX 560 Ti. =D
