1. I say lets have a Macrossworld Raffle for one of the three, proceeds go to benefit the college fund of that little tyke. Failing that it could be a nice bribe to Graham to "lose" one of them. LOL
2. Are there any online transformation guides? I know the ones Graham did for the 1/48's were invaluable. Only way I would attempt the transformation of the 1/48 was after watching that video 3 or 4 times.
3. Quick update to my above post, I bought my VF-0S from Samurai_m not blackaces, sorry. Incredibly fast shipping I recomend Samurai_Monkey. Just got my VF-0S in the mail. These are my initial thoughts for those of you that are wondering. I opened it and was impressed immmediately. It simply looks amazing. It came out of the packaging much easier than i remember, any of my 1/48's or 1/60's. But then the disappointment came. If I could choose one word to describe this thing it is, floppy. This is even a second release. The nose, the tailfins, the legs, the everything. I deployed the landing gear which wasn't bad until I got to the nose gear, which I needed a knife to extend. Putting them back in was worse. I much prefer the 1/48 gear. The gunpod doesn't seem to fit right. it immediately went onto my display stand. Not sure when I am going to muster the courage to try and switch modes. I am just disappointed. I much prefer handling my 1/72 VF-11B. Either of them. Maybe I will grow to like this valk. Keep in mind I have never been disappointed by a yammie, not even the Plus Valks, I have never broken a valk either, not even a VF-11B. The VF-0S just doesn't leave me warm and fuzzy inside. I am going to start checking and see if maybe the thing just isn't locked down right, so maybe i will change my mind. oh well what can you do?
4. I just ordered my VF-0S from Blackaces. Can't wait till it gets here. By the way I remeber back when the Macross plus were being released everyone thought they were the best. Same thing happened when the 1/60's came out.
5. indulge me with this answer since it is not a mecha franchise, but what about voltron, Vehicle and Lion.
6. Well I feel the need to add my two cents here. I wouldn't say that I am an avid collector of "man dolls", but I do proudly display my vintage 60's and 70's G. I. Joes with my Valkyries. I have a couple of other 1/6 scale figures as well, including Vampire Hunter D and Spider-Man. My point is this it is a very cool figure based on Grahams review, and I would buy it but if for no other reason than to support the line and maybe see other characters, such as an Isamu. but the main draw back for me is the price. $79.95? Please note the affordable Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars toys, they are reasonably priced, come wth useful accessories, and are great looking figures. I really feel that Macross/Robotech fans are subject to price gouging, including my beloved valks. But that is another thread. I just feel that for $80 I should get more than an iron on patch, dogtags, and a couple hands. At the end of the day $80 is just too much, it is a good chunk toward a 1/48 or a couple 1/60.
7. The only original adult swim programming I have ever enjoyed was Robot Chicken. Now that is a funny show. I really REALLY hate aquateen hunger force, and sealab 2021 or whatever.
8. This looks interesting. Is it on DVD or are you guys watching shareware versions of this show? I might bne interested in picking up dvd vol 1, if it exists, and giving it a try.
9. My toy to save requires a back story. Keep in mind my youngest sibling is 11 years older than I am, so growing up I always heard of these really cool 12" G.I. Joes that had real hair and clothes and stuff. All I had were these crappy little 3" ones. I always heard that they were real expensive and probably still in my mom's house. So I used to search and search my house looking, well one day I found one. it was one of the most exciting days of my life. I had found an old G.I. Joe. I still have it and treasure it more than any other toy I own. I don't consider it replacable even though it is just plastic since it has so much sentimental value attached to it. My second toy would be the Vehicle Voltron my wife bought me for my birthday last year. but that is anopther story.
10. I seem to remember doing valk raffles on the old boards. If I remember correctly it was loads of fun. I also remember the money going to Shawn to help pay for the site. Now that would be a worthy cause.
11. The Last Dragon. Just watched it yesterday. Not a great movie but definitely no explosions.
12. When I was a kid they would show Lion Voltron for a while then I would get sick of it, then Vehicle Voltron for a while and I would get sick of it. Now I love them both equally. I hope they finally get released to DVD soon. As far as the VV toy. It is amazing. I remember when I was a kid Toy Chest went out of business, and my mom took me to get some cheap toys. I found and wanted the vehicle voltron sets but she said no. i was sad and always wanted this Voltron. flash forward several years to 2005. My wife bought me a Vehicle Voltron on ebay and it is one of my favorite toys. Believe it or not it is actually pretty sturdy.
13. I think the reason toys form the 70's and 80's are collectible for very different reason than right now. Back then toys were bought and opened and played with. Sure some people bought them to keep that always happens. But for the most part now those toys that are desireable are rotting in kids toy boxes or in trash heaps. So there is a very low supply (in relation to what was released) of good condition toys. Now that I have the disposable income to get the toys I missed out on I don't want good condition complete stuff, but so does everyoe else. Now we have a huge demand. Everyone collects toys now. I see more adults in Toys'R'Us than kids. For a while my wife decided to collect Star Wars toys. She would wait for Wal-Mart and Target to put out new stock then go and buy the short packed stuff. Problem was so do a lot of other adults. People who saw the toys from their childhood become worth a lot of money are now trying to do it themselves. I see this happening with comics as well, but that is another story. Anyway my point is this, when it comes to tyos now there is a lot less attrition now than say in the 80's including Macross stuff. To exemplifiy this how often do you see losse Yamato valks compared to boxed Yamato valks on eBay. Or even Taka valks for that matter. This is just my opinion form my perspective. yes there is investment potential but not like there was way back when, simply because more people are doing it. The price of Macross stuff will go up simply because it is a smaller market for it than Star Wars. All I am saying is it won't go up as much as Taka stuff did in the 90's. There are exceptions such as the 1/48 Low Vis, and in its time the 1/60 TRU CF.
14. I am excited about this. Not as excited as I am about Identity Crisis. That is just good reading. But this seems to be picking up speed and interest. Now I can't say anything about what is happening in any of the X books, but I read the Spidey stuff religiously, and the Spider-Man issue where Tony Stark gives peter Parker his new suit had a lot of neat fore shadowing. Also the recent story arc in FF where Thing had to hunt down and stop Hulk was amazing. This directly ties into the planet Hulk story line, which is awesome, and is interesting since Hulk will be a part of this Civil War stuff when he gets back. Gonna be good stuff to see the sides be drawn and where every one falls. I just have to say this, there is a HUGE possibility that this will turn into crap, but I hope it doesn't. I do have to say that this crossover stuff generally adds interest to comics, if for no other reason it stops being very formulaic. Hero A fights Villain B for 1 - 3 issues then wins maybe with the help of guest hero B (Wolverine). This actually has the possibility of being different in a good way.
15. Fan sub Spider-man This is most awesome. I found a link to this on another site and it is awesomely funny. I just wanted to share this awesomeness here. My only question is did they ever make a toy of his car or giant robot? If they did I would definitely have to add them to my collection, they would be awesome. Good times
16. To the guy asking about the dvd's, I have it on good authority (second hand) that World Events Productions is in talks to release all of Voltron on DVD. I don't know many more details than that. My information comes from a gentleman that I see at local toy and comic shows. He attends these shows selling anime and tv shows on DVD. He was doing this at Kunicon, a japanese con that was held in St. Louis last year, where he got to meet and ask questions of a rep of WEP. Fpr those of you that don't know, World Event Productions is located in St. Louis near the Arch and Riverfront. Apparently WEP had a huge presence at Kunicon. My point though is that Voltron should be on DVD soon.
17. That movie was Voltron Fleet of Doom. It was a brand new american show that combined the two Voltrons. In it you get to see how the two got together and you even get to see a reunion between pidge and his "brother" from the vehicle Voltron. I just "found" this on the internet not long ago. I would also like to mention that they meet in the Devils Due Voltron series as well. It was a very good story. I got my issues out of a dollar box at a comic show. I am that if you look though you could find them cheaper. EDIT: Please see links in Roy's post above. I didn't even see this at first, it is way to early in the morning to discuss voltron.
18. I am so awesome myself, that I have slain and killed any number of ninja's and their evil twin ninja's in a marvelous way such that I even took a souvenir of the whole thing. The souvenir was a postcard from Niagara falls that I used to kill their leader who was half werewolf from his mother's side. But thanks for your offer of lending your awesomeness though.
19. Thanks for all of your help I am on my way to the toyboxdx forums with this.
20. I have this shogun warrior I just refound in my closet at my mom's house. I vaguely remember buying it at a yardsale when I was a kid. I loved this toy it used to do battle with Voltron and G.I. Joe on a regular basis. Anyway what you see him with is what I have had for as long as I can remember. What IO want to knwo is what toyline is it from? What is missing and where can I find the missing pieces. Here is the pic I have just taken of it. Thanks for the help.
21. Thanks for the kind words. Space issues are a huge concern here. I am always trying to figure out where to put stuff and where to put the must have new stuff. I have to have a 1/48 GBP, VF-1S Hikaru, VF-0S, and a 1/60 VF-1D. Those are my planned Macross purchases for the year. I alos want to get oneof the Masterpiece edition Voltron's and a 1/12 Scopedog.
22. This is my modest collection. I finally got the room to display my Valks out of package. The only exception to this is my Macross Plus collection. I have a 2nd edition YF-19, VF-11B, VF-11B w/Fast packs, YF-21 w/Fast packs. Thanks for looking. The above pic is by far my favorite. The Hikaru VF-1J is my favorite valk next to the VF-11B.
23. What the hell is he talking about, 6 interchangable hands? Unless he threw in a quartet of TV hands. 355572 The description matches a 1/60 description 355573 For what it's worth. Just before Christmas I bough a VE-1 and a VT-1 from the seller of this auction for right around $70 each. I had no problems or anything with this guy. Just my opinion. I have noticed prices of 1/48's fluctuate greatly. DOn't really know why though.
24. Thanks I will be spending christmas break makimng shelves. I also rearranged furniture so the big stuff will still look nice. Thanks P.S. Mods close this thread it has outlived its usefulness.
25. I need the measurements for a few things. I am going to be building shelves to hold my collection soon. Any help you guys can give me would be great. Could someone measure the height of a 1/48 VF-1 with fast packs in battroid mode, 1/100 Monster in Battroid, Masterpiece Prime, and Unicron. I think these are the tallest in my collection and since they are all still sealed it would be difficult for me to measure them quickly. I appreciate the help.
