  1. Not sure if this poster's synopsis is completely accurate, but here's the link: http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=86852. Duke, can you confirm if this summary is correct? Personally, I don't like the idea of EVIL Ellen. I thought the more motherly and serene aspects we saw onscreen after her download made her much more interesting. Plus, without her on the good side, we would have never got those great scenes between her and Cavil arguing on the baseship. As frakked up and as ruthless as Cavil was, those scenes helped to flesh out why Cavil hated being a skinjob so much (puns intended ).
  2. ^^Daddy. DADDY!! I'm gonna fly dis cool paper airplane outside on da' street! Daddy: ..............
  3. Plus, it plays on the whole faceless, unknown enemy bit. And from a filming standpoint it would make for some interesting, "artsy" scenes, especially if the faceplate is reflective. You could do scenes where CC is talking or pursuading someone to join his cause and that someone sees their distorted image/reflection in CC's faceplate. It's ARTSY and full of SUBTEXT!!! Seriously though, my only hope at this point is that the powers that be are delaying the release of Resolute until after the film for marketing and/or "hedging their bets" purposes.
  4. I'd expect nothing less from a student of the Roy.
  5. Yeah, we've mentioned the BSG-Macross parallels a couple of times here and there. But unless Anders or Kara were singing All Along the Watchtower during the final assault, you can only take the comparisons so far.
  6. I'd love it even more if they were killing cats!!
  7. ^^Correct scale, but it's the old Version 1. They may not have been perfect transformation, but you can still get some good poses out of the old 1/60 Version 1's.
  8. Don't forget that you'd need some sort of decal paper with white backing or a printer that prints white ink.
  9. What about this signature pose of Ranka Chan?
  10. Flexidisplays. Was there ever any doubt?
  11. My sentiments exactly. That's the thing about the spiritual and mystical side of life: it refuses to be easily explained away, even with all the science and additional understanding we can throw at it. That spiritual and mystical stuff has a funny way of forcing you to accept it and deal with it on its own terms. And sometimes you just have to take a "leap of faith." Now, I'm not gonna stand here and say that everything was perfectly planned out by RDM and company. But for the most part, you gotta give them credit. They didn't always shy away from the where they could take the story. Our heros weren't always the finest example of human beings out there. In fact, they could be just as downright ugly and violent as the Cylons. And God bless them for showing the Galactica looking like she took the massive beating that she did over the years. After the New Caprica drop and the passage to the Algae planet, she never did look the same again. For those of you complaining about what we got, don't forget: this series could have been so much worse. We could have gotten Star Trek Voyager.
  12. I like your list, but I'd probably remove the creation of the Blackbird and throw in the time jump from the Season 2 finale. That was a ballsy and creative move on their part. My personal Top 5 Character Moments of the Series: Honorable Mentions: * Sleeper Agent Boomer popping a couple caps in Adama - Shocker of an ending. All of the fallout from this one act (both in terms of story and for the characters) gave us a ton of story fodder for the first half of Season 2. * Baltar's "You know, I do know a little something...about. . . farming." - An appropriate bittersweet ending for this character (and Caprica Six's) story arcs. 5. Roslin hearing Leoben say "Adama is a Cylon," taking the briefest of moments, and straight-up ordering the sucker to be spaced out the airlock! (Season 1) It was the first moment where the President showed she could a be tough-as-nails, hard-ass. If anyone was wondering whether the President had any kind of backbone in her, this was the moment that put all doubts to rest. 4. Dee telling Commander Adama to reunite "the family" (Season 2) Adama choosing Dee to be a sympathetic yes-woman/sounding board. Dee unexpectedly stepping up to the plate, having her finest moment in the series, and reminding the Old Man of exactly what he should do. 3. TIE between Adama growling "Walk out of this cabin while you still can" (Season 1) and "I know what you are; you're my daughter." (Season 4) The best quotes/scenes showing how strong that bond is between Kara and the Commander/Admiral. If it was anyone else revealing their role in Zack's death, Kara wouldn't have gotten out of Adama's quarters unharmed. The other quote from a few episodes ago was exactly what Kara needed to hear during her time of self-doubt and confusion. 2. The looks of acknowledgement, approval, and pride between Lee and the Commander at the end of The Hand of God (Season 1) No words, no dialogue. Just a couple of knowing looks between a father and his son. Considering all the sh*t that went down between them before the fall of the Colonies, it was nice to see them sharing a genuine father-son moment during a joyous celebration. 1. Tigh killing Ellen down on New Caprica (Season 3) Tigh showing himself to be the hardest bad-ass around. Ellen pouring out her guts and heart, telling Tigh exactly why she did what she did. The two of them sharing a drink, as they've done a million times before. Only this time. . . it ends adruptly. This was a gut-wrenching and raw scene that made Tigh into one of the most compelling characters of the last half of the series.
  13. ^^They only said that the Cylon side-story would air some time in the fall. No specific date or anything though. The other thing to remember about the finale is that these folks have been cooped up in their ships for who knows how long now. I'm sure a wee bit of cabin fever is coming into play here. I can also see a good chunk of the survivors preferring the change of pace, especially since the planet is a nice, warm, lush place with "more animals than the 12 colonies put together" (as Roslin put it). I'm sure the idea of eating fresh steak instead of algae paste would appeal to a lot of the Colonials. The other thing too is that if the "bad" Cylons ever rolled on by this Earth, they'd probably just pass over the planet without a second look. I mean there's no sign of Colonial ships orbiting the planet. No sign of a large, metropolitan city with skyscrapers and such. And the technological level of the people down below is nowhere near the level of a space-faring society. No need to nuke them back to the stone age, since they're practically at that level already! Granted though, this theory would go to hell if one of the folks forgets to turn off the Colonial transponder on their Viper or Raptor (ala dead Starbuck).
  14. Regarding the Chief's moment of rage saving the fleet in the long run, don't forget all the other "coincidences" that occurred to send the Cylon Colony to its destruction: * A handful of nukes aimed and fired squarely at the Colony; * After a post-mortem Racetrack pressed the launch button; * After her Raptor was hit/nudged by an asteroid; * After Racetrack had made the decision to fly in with weapons hot. A lot of strange coincidences? The work of a higher power or being? Or the writers having a little fun, sitting back, and waiting to see how us fans interpret it?
  15. ^^Well he did say, It's open to interpretation. But I'd like to look at that line in a hopeful light.
  16. Much cooler and more aggressive than the standard Bond pose. I like it too! I'm sure I'm asking a dumb question. (But I never bought a V2 1/60th Valk, so bear with me.) Anyways, can the kneecaps fold down like on the 1/48's?
  17. I think that just about sums up all the emotions I got from watching this last hurrah for BSG. For those who got a little annoyed with how stretched out the ending coda was, I really didn't mind. Kinda reminds me of the final closing chapters of a good long book or story. You know the end is coming. But you want the story to linger on. . . . . .just a little bit more. The last parts kinda reminded me of the film ending of Return of the King (but in a good way). We've invested four seasons watching these characters struggle, toil, and triumph. I think a long good-bye was warranted and wanted by a good chunk of us. A couple of my initial impressions: * FRAK! The Galactica was gettin' pounded!!! * Anyone else get tripped out with the Centurions fighting alongside the Colonials?.......Ah FRAK!! It's a whole legion of Centurions coming on board!!!! Wait, they're gonna be on our side?! SWEET! But umm, they're still scaring the sh*t out of me. * Nice to see that the flashbacks served a bit of a purpose. One of them set up Baltar's last line to Caprica Six perfectly and beautifully. * One of the things I always wished they had shown on New Caprica was Baltar and Six having a conversation with one another while also talking to their head angels. I had pretty much reserved myself to the fact that such a scene would never occur during the series. So, I practically cheered out loud when that scene finally happened! * Thank God the black hole didn't come into play. * Glad to see Boomer got some semblance of redemption. I'm probably gonna have to watch the finale a few more times, just to let everything sink in and to catch a few more of the subtle nuances. Battlestar Galactica, much like Kara Thrace, you will not be soon forgotten. Thanks for the beautiful story.
  18. Sometimes in order to enjoy the good, you have to suffer through the bad. Like when you're trying to impress the hot girl at a bar........but you have to buy drinks and play nice with her frumpy, grumpy, cock-blocker of a girl friend. Anyways, getting back on topic, anyone else wish they could get a chance to run through the course just for the hell of it?
  19. I actually had the opposite reaction for First Contact. I remember reading a plot synopsis for the film prior to its actual release and not liking what I read. But the delivery on film was actually much better. Sure, there's a handful of cheesy or overly dramatic one-liners. But the solid character portrayals are what still stick with me to this day. Picard going Captain Ahab on the Borg. Alfre Woodard's character being the perfect foil and "voice of reason" for Picard. And of course, Zephram Cochrane being totally different from the LEGEND that Starfleet and the Federation made him out to be. Loved that line where he says that he made the warp engine, not for altruistic reasons, but for money............and women. Made him a lot more relateable and interesting.
  20. ^^I'm sure a marketing dude at G4 pitched it this way: "Three words: Olivia. Munn. Wet." Just saying.
