  1. Renate thanks for posting and translating the article for us. We do appreciate your efforts with this and the podcast. In terms of the license procurement, I think there's way too much speculation going on at the moment and should be discussed with a huge grain of salt. I hope Arcadia continues to have licenses for all of the series they have produced in the past as I really love their attention to detail and passion despite the higher retail cost. Arcadia's current efforts are focused on the zero line, but I wish that they could mix it up a little to keep the anticipation of future releases pretty high.
  2. FF should be a very lucrative property for anyone if handled properly. More so than Punisher, DD, or Hulk. Punisher and DD are relegated to the small screen. Marvel could've released them as big screen pictures if they wanted to and decided not to for good reason. FF has Dr. Doom, Galactus, Namor, Silver surfer, the skrulls, and any number of scifi /intergalactic hijinks that a good studio with a clue could make into a interesting franchise. The Chitari in the Avengers film were nothing more than stand ins for the skrulls. You don't think Marvel couldn't run with the ball using them? The skulls are also major enemies of the Kree, so you could have had a tie into the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain Marvel. Dr Doom is one of Marvel's best antagonist ever created. If you want to see how much potential he has check out the current Secret wars comic. So many wasted story opportunities, it's so sad. The illumanti, Secret wars, Skrull Invasion, Atlantis etc.
  3. Well hopefully it will kill this franchise and Fox will have second thoughts about picking it up again. Because they obviously have no clue with this adaptation.
  4. You won't go wrong either way. The 27 will definitely be much easier to purchase as they are soon to release their second variant soon. So pricing, stock and availability on the 2ndary market should be partially considered.
  5. Yeah Myk that's true. Marvel comics is currently owned by Disney and there is speculation that they have canned the FF comic, and talk of doing the same to the X-men to not promote the Fox films. This has even extended to merchandizing as with the Marvel properties there are a ton of movie/comic tie in merchandise out for sale. After the first X-men film and FF film, there has been next to zero merchandise for either of those properties.
  6. I agree with you Exo, but I think the only way we will get the X-men films that are fully realized is if Marvel is heavily involved which isn't going to happen any time in the near future. McAvoy and Fassbender are open to reprising their roles after Apocalypse. Deadpool is assured to be a hit, we have a Gambit film in the works and talk of a New mutants spin off. The X moves and FF will both be under Fox for at least the next five years or so. It's funny looking back at the first X film and they mocked comic costumes at the time. And when you watch the behind the scenes the actors can't even scale a short wall due to their leather getups! Very practical, my Arse! Fast forward to today, the general audience loves the Avengers partly because the characters strongly resemble the comic counterparts in costume. The Singer directed films have been enjoyable to watch, I just think of them as alternate reality versions of the characters. Singer didn't direct Wolverine, Last Stand, or first Class. I believe he was a producer on first Class which was directed by Matthew Vaughn. Last stand was directed by Brett Rainer (urghHHH, my eyes are starting to bleed), Singer left to do Superman returns.
  7. I hear you and I don't disagree with you. I mainly agree. But in Johnny's case where the characters race has never been a contributing factor to the characters makeup/personality/ experience, I don't have a problem with the production team casting an actor outside of that listed race. Since most of these comic adaptations are from source material dating back to the 60's and 40's in some instances, it becomes very difficult to stay completely true to the source material, but at the same time try to appeal audiences that have historically been excluded or left out. The comic industry has historically been dominated by white males in terms of writers, artist, and even readers. Today those demographics have changed considerably and it's now a much more diverse industry. Half of all American comic readers are female! DC, Image, Marvel, etc have addressed this with more prominent female characters, more female writers and artist, and less sexualized depictions of women in their core titles. And for the most part it has been positively received. One of the things that DC comics did recently that I applaud, was when they restarted their comic universe(New 52) a few years ago. They elevated Cyborg to one of the Justice league founding members. Very subtle but it speaks volumes. It would've been nice if Marvel could have done something similar with the Avengers or given Black Widow her own solo film. So many of my friends with young daughters dress up as Widow for Halloween, etc. Besides the FF comic has had a huge problem attracting and retaining readership over the last decade. The book has currently been cancelled. So anything fresh the studio can do to make the characters more appealing, I don't have a problem with. I think a thing that they could do to jazz them up a little is to incorporate the Ultimates version of Reed. Or to use some of his less than satisfactory depictions from over the years. We typically gravitate to characters with flaws and Reed IMO has resembled to much of an outdated boyscout in a time were audiences are more sophisticated. I'm a huge comic fan, and I too generally feel that the FF are generally dull characters. Another thing Fox should've done from the outset when they decided to relaunch the FF, was to work out a crossover with the X-men films. They've teased about the possibility, but if they don't do it, I think it's a huge wasted opportunity. The X movies have done well and I think their inclusion into the FF universe could bring a lot of their fans over the FF franchise that t has struggled to resonate with audiences.
  8. In the comics, Johnny is Sue's full blooded younger brother. He's typically been brash, arrogant, and wise cracking. So he counter balances Sue and Reed's demeanor. In terms of race, yes Fox has chosen to have a slightly more diverse cast for this franchise. Jessica Alba played Sue Storm in the 1st 2 FF films. Michael B Jordan (Johnny Storm) is a really good actor and I think he will really capture Johnny's essence. The studio's all too often forget that people of all walks of life go to the theaters. That's also why we've seen a lot of the recent blockbusters open over seas. Transformers 4 opened in Hong Kong and Japan if I recall correctly, and they had a few cameos of Asian celebrities to help draw out potential moviegoers. I don' think its too much to ask that some of our natural diversity be depicted on film especially if the characters race or sexual orientation isn't critical to the characters persona. The most successful film franchise to date ( Fast and furious saga) has had a very diverse cast/production team. There have been a number of recent roles where the studios purposely chose to white wash clearly ethnic characters on the flip side. DC has also chosen to open the doors for diversity of some of their characters. Aquaman will be played by Jason Mamoa, Will smith is playing Deadshot and there is talk that the upcoming Green lantern may be John Stewart instead of Hal Jordan. I think Marvel Studio's is playing catch up in this regard with some of their properties. I haven't been too happy with what Fox had did with the X-men films in this regard either. Colossus is Russian, Banshee Irish, Kitty Jewish and all of these aspects were tossed aside in the films. The female characters used to be very heavy hitting characters(story) in the comics, but in terms of the films they've taken a backseat to their male counterparts. One of the great things I've always liked about the X-men after the 1975 comics re launch was their international flare. The characters felt like they belonged to everyone and there has always been at least one character that most people can relate to on some level.
  9. One of the things I adore about the 30 is the pose ability of the toy in battroid mode. Double jointed arms, check, waist swivel on a Valk!!!, Check, double jointed knees, Check. Unfortunately most of us valk collectors don't do a great job of really showcasing some of the toys articulation which is where the 30 is nearly unmatched. I'm a fighter mode guy first and battroid mode second and I think the fighter mode on the 30 and 29 for me are a neck and neck tie.
  10. The YF-30 is a must own for Valkyrie toy collectors. Bandai could've done a few things better with the release, but it's still one of their top releases to date. The 19 advance is probably tops in my book for their release followed by the YF-30 and then maybe the 29 Rod and Ozma versions.
  11. The Arcadia/Yamato Vf-1 series are near perfect. Bandai couldn't improve on these toys even if they wanted to. Ditto for the YF-21. I would rather they concentrate on variants featured in frontier, and Macros 30 for the time being. I want Aisha and Mae valks. Since they seem to have more freedom with Variants, I'd love to see more custom variants of the vf-25, 27, 29, 30, and 171 and now the 19 advance. A low vis 19, 30, 171 and 27 would be kickass. They can go crazy on new molds once the new series has been released.
  12. Nice figures treatment. Kanu looks badass. What Hulk is that btw?
  13. You could try clear glue, or maybe a little heat to the stickers to make them tacky again. Haven't' tried the latter, so you might want to attempt on stickers you don't care about. A lot of the 1/48 armor pieces had rough surfaces that weren't sticker friendly.
  14. The skull marking above is a sticker. The original 0S had tampo printing, so its safe to assume it will be tampo printed as well. Do we know if it will come with the attachments for the ghost? Since they are using a different shade of white, the original attachment pieces color won't match.
  15. I hope that they stick with the black instead of the grey. I looks better even though it may not be lineart accurate. I still have my original zero's and these will make a nice contrast between the two versions.
  16. Cool close up. I agree that his face should've been more gray and less blue. You can see the mouth scars, and he still retained some of the tubes coming out of his costume. In the other pic, you can see Psylocke carrying her katana on her back, and her suit appears to have some armor to it.
  17. He's going to look really nice alongside the other masterpieces.
  18. What year is your car SMC? I also have a pair of antique 1970 plates that I might put on my car. I need to have them cleaned a repainted first.
  19. He still looks like a Stargate villains of the week. I don't mind the suit, its the head and face I object to. Not to mention that his skin tone is nearly identical to his suit. Very subtle contrast. I hope he retains his shape/size altering abilities. Psylocke and Storm look awesome btw. How in the world are the X-men going to beat a team consisting of Apocalypse, Magneto, Storm (who's going to become an X-men), Psylocke and Archangel? Especially when the team mainly consist of teenage versions of the X-men with Beast.
  20. That is so sick! Way To go Gundam. How did you install the LEDS?
  21. Ditto, and I'm a huge X-men fan. Don't care for Apocalypse look. I get that they are only several weeks into shooting, but it looks more off than right. Seems like they are also changing his powers to include manipulation or coercion. Fox loves to amalgamate their villains. Lets merge Apocalypse with the shadow king. Magneto's line also seemed out of character.
