  1. Phalanx while your enthusiasm is appreciated you have some facts way off. First off you have to remember that when designing anything there are significant trade offs depending what you want to put on it. To make an F-22 or F-23 have VTOL capability would add thousands of pounds to the airframe in terms of new engines, additional fuel, controls, etc... And in the process you would lose much of the internal weapons storage and for what, a limited use capability? Plus remember all that extra weight means a slower less manueverable airframe. There is a reason why only the Marine and Royal Navy variants of the F-35 have VTOL capability, they are the only ones that want/need it. Truth be told VTOL is a very limited capability, the most promising type thus far would have to be the old X-Wing Concept, with the rotor that turns into the main wing. VTOL jets just tend to eat way too much fuel for very little practical payoff. Also the F-35 is not being marketed to the US Army, that would be illegal as it would take an act of Congress to allow the US Army to use fixed wing combat aircraft again. And, if that act of congress did pass trust me on this one the army would be much more likely to pick up the close air support role from the Air Force by buying up all their old A-10s, since the F-25 will have a very limited CAS capability.
  2. I've been on since 2000 or 2001, I would have to look at the old boards to be sure.
  3. Um, first off I am not a fighter pilot, I am a Flight Test Engineer, big difference, I'm smarter and better looking for starters, lol. ANyways the YF-23 will likely never enter service. Despite the fact that so many of us love it here that is just a pipe dream unfortunately.
  4. man I really should weigh in on this but the topic of turrets on the Stealth has already been covered pretty well. As for what is on AF-1, well I could tell you, we had an older out here briefly and a few of us snuck onboard. Let me say a couple things that are not FOUO, there is no escape pod, there is a massive galley, lots of extra fuel, lots of extra food. Remember in case of major war, like nuclear, AF1 was to be able to remain airborne a heck of a long time, hence the in air refueling capability, but you can't transport food via the fuel boom. So there are a great deal of extra provisions onboard. There is no press aboard AF-1, again that is a movie thing. There is a small seating area for a very select few reporters, but that is a very small room and most of the press corps rides in a seperate aircraft.
  5. the show was fun but had many contridications, infact I remember one later episode where plays a parapalegic (guy got his legs blown off) and at the end of the episode he stands up, sans legs. it was a good fun concept but scientifically had a great many issues.
  6. The comics rocked up until the TV show ended. Back when they had the two mediums Hama had a lot more free reign to tell the story he wanted to and to include only the characters he wanted to. This was because the cartoons took on the worse characters, however Hama was still forced to take on a great number of them. After the cartoon ended and GI Joe toy started to wane in popularity Hasbro twisted his arm to include more and more of the new characters and redesigns and hence towards the end you had some really really bad storylines.

    Custom 1/48 Gbp

Holy Shreg on a stick that is awesome, seriosuly that is how the "low-vis" GBP being released should have been painted, or something similar.
  8. I love Tag and Bink I will have to find a comic book shop and pick it up.
  9. The CHarlie Browns down in Little Rock, that is a depressing town. I live in Rosamond, and BTW after the Edwards Air Show I plan to have an unofficial MW BBQ for any attendees. And yes there is a lot of drug use up here in the AV, mostly because people are stupid and don't know what to do with themselves otherwise.
  10. Speaking of old airplane movies, I just heard that Blue Thunder (best helicopter movie ever, period) is being rereleased on DVD in some special edition. Does anyone have any idea what is so special about it, I have the old DVD but wonder what they have done to make the new edition special. Anybody have any info, and I must say I am not impressed by the cover art I have seen, it shows off blue thunder too much, I always prefered the original poster art with the helo hovering right in front and in shadow from the front spotlights.
  11. You're missing the point Phalanx, yes Valks should be able, and are seen "walking" in gerwalk, M0 shows this really well, but the term GERWALK is an acronym. Which I will repeat here: Ground Effect Reinforced Wing w/ Articulated Locomotive Kneejoint So, like I said in order for a craft to be a true GERWALK it needs to have a wing and legs. The legs are not so much for walking, though they do allow it, but to provide just enough thrust to keep the craft moving so that ground effect keeps the wing producing lift at an airspeed that it would normally not allow for. WIG, or Wing In Ground effect aircraft are very popular in russia especially for ferrying cargo over water since they are fast and due to ground effect can carry alot more weight then one would normally think. I hope that explination was not too technical for anyone here.
  12. the difference between what I do and a normal fan fiction writer WDC is that I am actually actively trying to get published, I have a couple short stories right now that I am getting ready to submit for publication. However, the new house is taking up a lot of my time right now so I can't devote that much time to the stories or their editting. The ships I design fit into those stories, and I design them, with their histories so that I maintain control and maintain consistency in desrciptions and such. I don't want some third party to come in later and make up a BS backstory that I do not agree wish, *cough* west end games, palladium *cough*
  13. Can you give us a link to the trailer?
  14. Most people on here are too mature to read fanfiction, sure we have all postulated ideas for interesting stories, and a few times people have read examples of others writing and said, hey you should do some fan fiction. But in the end fan fiction should be left to the more obsessive and lifeless fan boys of ST, SW, HP, Roboschlock, etc...
  15. Yep, but then they are ink and CELLULITE, lol
  16. Yeah 1st but back then there was not the huge liscencing dispute that there is now. Now a judge has ruled that the original designs and I believe their derivatives belong to BW, so if HG tried to rerelease the sentinels stuff now I think there would be some legal fallout, or at least hope so anyway. And Roy would you move the topic, it is in the correct forum isn't it?
  17. Actually I was referring to this: http://nanashino.macrossmecha.info/navws/m...le_phalanx.html
  18. Whatever terry I prefer my women to be flesh and blood, not ink and cellulous, but then again you are obvious a Dennis Rodman fan so I should come to expect such "interesting" views.
  19. I don't think red devil as the designs are clearly just the original with arms and some slightly altered features. If they were to try and use them now I bet Big West could have potential to sue.
  20. I can except the nickname theory, but really a gerwalk needs to have some kind of wing, afterall GERWALK is an Acronym for: Ground Effect Reinforced Wing w/ Articulated Locomotive Kneejoint. From that we show that the vehicle must have a lift capable wing, that is in ground effect (less then a wingspan from the ground) and a locomotive knee joint. Hence the VB-6 and variable glaug do not have true Gerwalk modes, heck neither one should have had a battroid mode either when you think about it. If anythign the VGlaug should have had "battlepod" mode, and the VB-6 an "Artillery mode". Now would crews still call it Gerwalk, probably, but that would be an incorrect statement on their parts.
  21. I still say that Shin and Sara settled down on some remote planet somewhere, possibly and old Protoculture colony, and started having babies, and one *shudders* was Nekki Basara.
  22. ACtually what you might want to do is add the macross type launchers that were seen in some lineart and the series. The was lineart back up on NMMA of something called the missile phalanx, but I think it was on the prometheus, and from the few pics there were it was quite obviously a RAM mount. Which, was derived from the CIWS mount.
  23. What no option for us PC Gamers, I'm offended, lol.
  24. Um, White Holes, as theorized, do not suck matter in, they expel it back into the universe.
  25. The fact that you find cartoon characters hot disturbs me on so many levels. And don't worry Duke we aren't talking about you, no one wants to kill you.
