  1. What you mean a news media source could put out bad information? LOL JK
  2. Sorry all but it looks like I will have to bow out this year, my wedding date is that weekend and well I think the bride would kill me if I went to MWCon right after our wedding night.
  3. Solid start
  4. The intakes on the F-15 pivot to increases AoA perfromance and for high speed compressibility concerns. Correct me if I am wrong DH, I am a little tired as I write this.
  5. Super Hornets have been caleld rhino for a short while now because of the bump on their nose forward of the cockpit.
  6. Oh man Phalanx you liked ID4 that movie was bigger POS then Top Gun. Hey let's fire HARMs at city sized spaceships.
  7. In regards to Thrust Vecotring, and anything that says 2-D or 3-D, the D stands for Dimensional. A regular engine can be considering 1-D thrust vecotring because it only puts out thrust in one dimension, straight back (not including bleed over and over pressure waves). A 2-D thrust vectoring engine moves the thrust up and down as well and 3-D adds side to side. As to my F-22 comments, well lets just say that many of them have to do with environment, maintenance, and thermal issues. Anymore then that and I cannot say.
  8. Actually Phalanx it is for a variety of other reasons, but good job by the Hornet Driver, must have been a Marine.
  9. Oh man, I am going through some training at work this week and you would not believe some the FOUO (For Official Use Only) info I have learned about aircraft like the F-22, F-35, and V-22. It really makes you wonder about what the air force and the US military aviation community in general are doing and thinking. Some of the stuff I already know but since I do not know what all is unclassified I can't talk too much about it, but man I would hate to have to be flying an F-22 anytime in the next few years. At least until a radically redone B model is made.

    Vf-5

Much cleaner, nice addition of the thrust vectoring vanes on the engine. I still don't see how the intakes can possibly route air into the engine though, unless it is used in pure rocket form at all times, even in atmosphere. The design is really coming along nicely though.
  11. Isn't the Yamato YF-19 suppossed to be based on this kit somewhat?
  12. Looks stupid

    Vf-5

Nice, I definitely see the Sea-Dart in it. A coupel of suggestions, fold the main wings under the engine like the VF-22, and either split or just fold the vertical stab, otherwise the pilot may break it off when they lean up against something. Also, is it transatmospheric, if so will it have intakes, or are those split intakes in fighter and a single intake on the back during battroid?
  14. Short answer, the long range weapons systems on the F-14 required a RIO/WSO, when the F-14 took on the recon role the TARPS pod also required a 2nd crewman. Again when the BombCat was introduced. A lot of the F-14s systems required a 2nd crewman to operate them because they were so work intensive. An F-14 can be flown by a single crewman if all you are doing in straight up close in dogfighting (mode 1 or 2) correct me if I am wrong DH. But for anything beyond that you need the RIO/WSO. Besides that, a single seat F-14 would just look goofy.
  15. Yes there was, heck look at the F-15s canopy the thing looks like it was always intended to be a two seater.
  16. Arrgh, I am getting ready to buy an engagement ring and pay for a custom, I will have to wait until the second release, argh.
  17. There are tutorials all over the web on how to use 3DS, try www.scifi-meshes.com they have a lot of good ones.
  18. "Of Course he wore pants, those movies were made in like the 50s, otherwise people would see his Wolfdork." As a kid the Gate scared the P!$$ out of me, that movie had me freaked out about creatures in the walls for a while.
  19. Yes neither of those two planes would be able to fly with their wings folded, for the reasons you stated, also on the S-3 the wings fold at odd angles to be bale to lay somewhat flat which would really kill lift. In general, with only a few exceptions, planes with folding wings will not fly folded up. The F-8 was able to do it because of the variable incidence wing, and a lot of thrust. But it was in no way combat capable and could not unfold in flight. The F-4 could do it because only the tips folded and the rest of the wing was still able to produce lift, plus a heck of a lot of thrust. Pretty much any other plane has too much of the wing fold to all for suffecient lift.
  20. Ah another pointless Phalanx, let's redesign all the VFs because we think we are smarter, thread.
  21. I hate Tarantino too, i do not see why people like him so much, he's not that good of a director. As for Jaye and Silent Bob, I like them as supporting characters in small doses, taht is where they work best, after watching JSBSB I wanted to kill Jaye especially.
  22. That is insane, be nice to see it completed, surprised that no one mentioned that the bridge actually moves for cruiser mode.
  23. COngrats XS she looks like a keeper, must be if she let your put your CMS' on the cake.
  24. I loved that movie as a kid, all the great universal studios monsters together in one place, and really the storyline wasn't too bad. No major plot holes, that I can remember, and the characters all stayed pretty true to themselves. Give me that movie over that POS Van Helsing anyday, well Van Helsing did have one or two redeeming features, or should I say a couple pair of redeeming features?
  25. Arrgh, can't see the pics at work, can't wait to get home tonight now.
