It could have been worse, much worse, you could have lost your very important term paper, which 1/3 of your final grade depended upon

Subs only! Dubed anime should be wiped from the face of the earth!
-
Yeah, not to down on you, but when I read the thread topic, I was expecting a story of financial ruin or something... Still what happened to ya does suck. Just remember to back up all your important files ever month or so from now on...

Whooot! Now lets see a moto slave! Is it possible priss+moto slave was the other transformable line Graham talked about so many years ago? Okay it was just a year but it seems like years.

Well, at least in Kenshin, to the best of my knowledge, the people they give southern accents to are supposed to be people from the south of Japan, who actually have their own distinct regional accent methinks. still, I agree it does seem awefully out of place to hear Japanese charactors speak with a southern drawl, but other than that I really have nothing against it.

As many as possible, because it is simply the greatest anime that people are not watching

What are your favorite space battles?
GobotFool replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hmmmmm In no particular order, -Last Starfighter when they release the Death Blossom -Endor, is there anyone out there who doesn't love this battle? -Can't remember the name of DS9 Episode, but the one where they retake Deepspace 9 from the dominion, it was like 2000 federation Ships vs 3500 Dominion ships. Large scale capship battles rule! -DYRL opening dogfight, and final battle -The opening cinimatic for Independance War 1, demonstration of realistic physics at its best. -The ESB chase scene through the astroid belt, okay okay, I know it's not a dog fight, but it's still cool -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3192559232&rd=1 I don't get people, for this money you could buy a nice 1/48... I don't understand people who stand by the MPCs and are willing to pay this money for them when significantly nicer valk toys exist. 1/48's, 1/60s, Hell even the 1/55 bandai reissues.
-
Dress them up with as fancy a setting as you want, an MPC is still an MPC...
-
That StarScream is looking tight. Lets hope this design is a precursor to a MPC StarScream. Edit: What are those two silver parts displayed in the picture?

I like it alot, course it may just be my obsession with transformer repaints

New Gundam FIX and ZEONOGRAPHY on the way...
GobotFool replied to GRAND CANNON's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Even with my distaste for the FIXX line, if they make a high Nu, I would bite. -
True, true. Look at Dune, a book many people consider to be the finest sci-fi novel ever written, but does it attempt to stay realistic? Nope, it actually embraces its fantastical elements and runs with them, doing a really good job in the context of the novel.

Yeah, I'd love to deck out my Aoshima Endo in leather gear just for the hell of it.

Yeah, I am loving this series tons. It's always good to see a noble effort at hard-sci-fi from the mainstream entertainment industry. Kinda reminds me of something Kim Stanely Robenson, author of Red Mars, would write. To demand absolute realism from any sci-fi show is a high order. Most science fiction takes a real world premise, exaggerates it, and then creates a fiction around that exaggeration. While planetes has gaps, most of even the best hard sci-fi has a gap or two. I remember reading Red Mars with a group of friends and we were all in awe of the scientific accuracy of the novel (and a little bored with it), but one of my friends who was an economist was laughing his ass off at the, as he called it "truly naive and foolishly set up economic model in the book." So even the best of hard sci-fi has its holes. Also for me, Planetes is at it's core an anime about the human spirit in the face of exploration, and how it deals with things once considered extraordinary becoming mundane. Also, in general, the whole space junk bit is an allogory for how humanity, where ever it goes, it trashes the environment. All and all, I'll say it is a noble if not flawed effort at realistic sci-fi, as MSW makes good points about its glaring holes. Hevangel, What's WoH? Edit: Spelling

Great News! New Bandai PG Conversion Kit
GobotFool replied to ChristopherB's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If only bandai would make conversion kits. I'd kill for a Zeta-Plus PG conversion kit. -
Just to amuse AgentOne..... Shrug. Cause its cool that's why. That's why Basara's VF-19 Kai emits lights from its eyes cause it reeks of coolness. You want it to make sense? It could make sense. Maybe its like the old Night Vision Goggles and they emit a dim green light when turned on. So the valk has night vision, geddit? Besides, space could be a dark dark place. Yeah, science fiction is full of stuff that lights up for no good reason. Look at the terminator's red eyes. Any reason for them to light up other than to look cool and menacing
-
Getting the landing lights to work on a 1/48th would be something I'd love to see.
-
I love the VF-2 and am saddened that the only variable kit out for it is that hidious 1/100 bandai with the booster equipment, and the only way to get a regular one is to nab that super rare resin conversion kit. Yamato has too many other VF's they could make, and with such a limited audience for the VF-2, chances of seeing one made ever are really, really, really, slim.

Favorite obscure/under-rated toyline
GobotFool replied to GobotFool's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Jog my memory please, sounds familiar Had holograms in the chests. -
This really isn't a thread for what you consider to be the best toy line, just toy lines that you like, but never really gets the attention you feel they deserve. For me, the 1st and 2nd series exosquad toys are may favorite underrated toy lines.

There were some women, but the armor is generally unisex. This is just a joke figure.
