  1. Generally they're made mostly of Polystyrene, but they can use a variety of plastics, notably Polyethylene for the polycaps that many models use for joints and sometimes ABS for structures like Inner Frames.
  2. If you do decide to try splitting the glued leg apart for repairs, maybe try freezing it for a few hours. I'm not sure whether Bandai uses an epoxy glue or not, but if it's a CA glue instead; that should freeze trapped water molecules in the glue, weakening the bond. Again I'm not entirely sure what kind of glue they use, but it's worth a shot
  3. I'd suggest picking up some reproduction parts off ebay for a display with the armor, sometimes original pieces still have flex, but I wouldn't risk it.
  4. To be fair, it's the only film that isn't A: slightly rushed to compile all the main plot points of a series, or B: a sequel that requires homework to make sense.
  5. Yeah like Jenius just said, the idea that it's not well liked is a purely western conception. Back in Japan, the main market for these shows and toys of course, this is maybe the most influential show in the franchise outside of SDF for starting it. It took Frontier to dethrone it for a lot of fans, and that show was lightning in a bottle. It's the grittier series that tend to fly under the radar, which is pretty much the inverse of how a lot of us perceive the franchise.
  6. Yeah that is the caveat of waiting for a more desired deco, if nobody buys the first deco no more will get produced. Although I will say given how popular Macross 7 is I would say it's probably not as niche as the game deco would be
  7. Oh man, that thing would be over a foot tall at least considering that a 1/60 Nu Gundam is around 14 inches and the Saubergeran is about the same height give or take about half a meter
  8. See I'd far prefer a CF version, but I can't shake the feeling that if I miss this release it'll be back into the secondary market/gulag for me
  9. Yeah I agree. I certainly wouldn't mind a re-release of the old Yf-21 and Vf-22 molds, but I'd rather see them move on to new valks instead of spending a lot of time and money developing a 2.0 mold for the -21. Although to be fair, aside from the Varauta mecha there really isn't a lot left to cover aside from variants and paint schemes. Unless Arcadia decides to dip their toes into the Frontier Era and onward, but that seems incredibly unlikely, what with Bandai's undisputed hold on the license so far.
  10. Yeah, I ended up checking the cockpit lineart and came to that realization. That was about the same time that the top half of the elbow joint I used shattered, so I'll have to dig out the housing and scratchbuild a replacement piece. I'm currently at the stage where the scratch building is piling up, we'll see if I end up resculpting anything major aside from the hip joints, although this post is beginning to seem like an ominous prophecy lol.
  11. I'd make the distinction that Gundam recognizes it's not the people who are bad, but the systems they belong to are rotten to the core. Especially when it comes to the UC which goes out of its way to show that while there's a-holes on both sides there's just as much good, with frequent examples of Zeon characters just being general stand up guys when they're not trying to kill our protagonists. Again though, I'll concede that Macross approaches that on a fundamentally different level. With the exception of Grace/the Galaxy gang Macross doesn't really have villains in the same vein as the super-fascists that Gundam usually falls back on. That the most evil Macross villain is a cyborg Verizon saleswoman come abusive manager, while the most evil Gundam villain is space napolehitler says something. I think the biggest difference is Macross believes in a better future for humanity as a whole, while Gundam believes that people will always be good, even if we don't always understand each other. Thanks for the discussion, all this talk about Gundam and Macross makes me wanna rewatch 0079 and SDF. It also makes me super excited for the future of the franchise. Can't wait for the discussions everyone's gonna have when the new show comes out.
  12. While I do think that Macross is a much more overtly optimistic story and probably is in large part a response to the kind of storytelling the spawned from Gundam, I feel like reducing Gundam to pessimistic misery pounds is a bit reductive. For all that Tomino is known by his kill-em-all nickname, he's never ever lost sight of the hope and need for a better future. Hell even Ideon, the story that ends with literally the entire universe dying, ends on a hopeful note of future rebuilding. It's why I think Gundam and Macross compliment each other so well. Macross is the fulfillment of every Gundam show's hope for a better future. Instead of the dream constantly fighting against being smothered by the machine of war and society, Macross exists in a world where we get to see that dream fulfilled. Sorry if this is a little tangential, I just think both series complement each other really well.
  13. Yeah I initially thought the same, but on closer inspection, I discovered the bicep is literally shorter than the Pilot model you receive along with the kit. I thought I'd make it a little more believable as essentially a giant metal sleeve.
  14. Recently I picked up both the 1/144 Nousjadeul-Ger and Queadluun-Rau kits, so of course I immediately set off on building the N-Ger. Unfortunately for me things have spiraled out of control and I'm currently in the process of adding articulation. I'm hardly a master modeler, so many of my solutions are sort of hackneyed, but I think he's coming along alright. Currently I have the right thigh and a bicep clamped up after cementing. The biceps on this kit are ludicrously small so I decided to lengthen them by about 3mm. Time will tell if this sets off a chain reaction that ends with me cutting this whole kit up. I'm hoping to have it done by the start of September, but at this pace I'd be lucky to have it done by the end of 2023. Fingers crossed anyhow
  15. Finally a Feios that doesn't require a blood sacrifice to get ahold of! This looks awesome dude, your workflow is insane and I'm super excited to see your projects progress.
  16. Man I know the crazy proportions are turning people off, but I love that Vf-1J and Vf-1S. There are already excellent offerings for a more line-art accurate Vf-1, I'm all for a new take on this design. I just hope it can pose well enough to take advantage of its looks
  17. These parts actually fit surprisingly well with the looks of the toy, this is awesome!
  18. I feel like waiting for the moderoid orguss would definitely make for less painful kitbashing. You probably could use the HMRs but your Vf-1 would be a quadriplegic and it wouldn't even transform.
  19. Honestly, it's pretty interesting to see a figure prioritize battroid to this extent. The last one I can think of was the Revoltech Transforming Valkyrie, and that was uhhh, slightly compromised.
  20. I would assume they're trying to emulate the, frankly massive, forearms that the Vf-1 had in art like this.
  21. Personally I'd like to see them push the valks even further into super robot territory, but juxtaposed against a more serious setting. I think Sunrise are kind of masters of managing to fit fantastical elements into a more grounded setting. I mean Gundam is THE poster child for the real robot genre, despite the fact that almost every series has some sort of space magic. I think it would be a cool way to explore Macross' optimistic worldview juxtaposed against a bleaker overall tone
  22. These bad boys. Also, I know ludicrously large piles of kits aren't exactly new atp, but these images always get me giddy
  23. I wonder if they still have any of the Zentraedi suits hanging around, haven't seen them on their ebay shop for a while.
  24. So, is it known what kind of fleet composition the supervision army remnants have? ASS-1 was a gunboat, and if we follow Naval tradition it would stand to reason there's quite a lot more destructive ships they're capable of fielding. For that matter, is there any info on how many remnants there are of the supervision army if any at all by the 2060s?
  25. It'd be pretty cool if bandai released 1/60 fast pack parts to simulate episode 11. It's a pretty niche reference, but I think it could be a quirky display option. It definitely wouldn't fly as retail release tho, maybe as a Tamashii Web Exclusive?
