Could be that styrofoam is only an issue when heated, out gassing or the like.

It’s unlikely they would have bothered making new molds for vacuum formed plastic trays when they already had molds for styrofoam trays for the 31s.

Arcadia 1/60 VF-4A ‘Flashback 2012’ Premium Finish & Regular Release
Sanity is Optional replied to no3Ljm's topic in Toys
Not terribly high-resolution 3D print, unsmoothed. It is in color though, so there is that. Probably would have been cheaper to pay people in some 3rd world country to print resin castings, and would have looked better.- 1113 replies

The VTOL/STOL requirement really ought to have been stuck into a separate airframe from the general-purpose airforce and carrier fighter. The number of limitations it puts on the overall design, even with the lift-fans and VTOL system itself being optional to install, are significant. -

When I did topcoating on my transforming VF-27 model kit, I found the best way was to half-transform it. Just unhook everything and splay them out as much as possible. Then shift things and give the spots that were shadowed a touch-up. -
~4-5hours to build the Saturn V. Impressive kit, huge, sturdy, looks good.
-
About 1.5 hours in and 1/3rd done with the Saturn V. Time to take a break and go play with the cats though.
-
Finally got in the Saturn V I ordered a little while ago, plus the freebie carrot house kit. Guess I know what I'll be doing tonight.

Some white poster board for background, and a couple of swing-arm lamps with daylight led bulbs will do the trick, honestly.

How is the Hasegawa 1/48 YF-19? I have one in my backlog, plus the photo etched add-on kit. -
Yeah, DYRL is much more popular in Japan, and Roy is less popular in Japan. Plus COVID hit (and torpedoed international demand).

Bandai 1/72 Scale Transformable Macross Δ Kits

Already requested shipping. Looks like the wings are a bit different to allow a fixture for the Lil' Drakkens to peg into the wing root where the tip folds down. -
I'm guessing an extra zero got added, and they're ¥2,300-¥2,500 (about $22-$24).

More likely the guys behind the CG models decided to re-use the model on their end, just sticking it in a new location. -
I've been shipping my stuff out regularly, but I have definitely been taking advantage of going past 60days to fit in the odd item that doesn't release quite in time. For instance, both of the new Bandai 1/72 Delta kits and the Metal Build F91 still haven't released yet, but all 3 are slated for March...

Yeah, not up to LEGO's brick quality, but worlds above Megablox. On a 1-10 Megablox to Lego scale, I'd put them around a 7-8?
-
Well, it was missing a single 1x4 short brick. Easy enough to grab a spare from somewhere else and paint gray to match. As to the brick quality, you can tell it's not LEGO if you pay attention. There's occasionally some flash or nub marks where they came off the runner, some of the larger pieces like to go on more one direction than the other. They do have a lot of more custom pieces (lots of turrets), and lots of details printed on parts. They also use a lot of odd lengths (5, 7) The kit build is very sturdy, I actually dropped the E while I was holding it upsidown to attach the stand, it didn't care much. Only the thin end of the flight desk lost a couple bits, easily repaired. My friend is quite happy with his tanks (which prompted me to get the carrier), though he curses at the track assembly bits. No missing parts on his end. On the whole? If you want a military LEGOish kit, COBI seems to be a good way to go.
-
Cashed in my VIP points from the Star Destroyer and ordered one. In the meantime, one of the lego-compatible kits from COBI showed up, the USS Enterprise (CV-6) 6 hours later (and one missing part ) and I have a big cinderblock of a kit on my shelves.
-
I'll take what I can get.
-
Speak for yourself, I managed to snag one of the 1/72 kits (with Mikumo decal nightmare).

In my case, my pair of 262s don't really get transformed. Fighter mode, battroid, done. It doesn't break much if it's too much of a PITA to transform.
