The computer and electronics super geek superthread...
Uxi replied to EXO's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Frys is still doing the E6750 (2.6Ghz dual core with 1333 FSB) and and an EliteGroup G33T-M2 mobo for $213. (normally the CPU is $209 alone). I got one and half the build half done (right now just have SuSE installed and am running on onboard video and 4GB of 1066DDR2. Most likely getting an 8800 GTS with 640MB of VRAM) and will then install Vista Ultimate. -
I've only used my headset once. I'll probably synch up and use my regular cell phone headset as I hate the earpiece on the Jabra that came with Warhawk.
-
Was there ever anything to the rumors of using a PSP as an (expensive) PS3 controller?
-
Yeah I love the design. I hope the stealth / low-viz / whatever matches the shade of the Fast Packs (or gets a matching set of FP). Would be even better as a uniform colored VF-19A FP. I don't need another foldildo, though
-
Hopefully they'll do both options. A relatively bare VF-11B with Fast Packs for relatively cheap ($100 would be sweeeet) wand then an ultimate version with Chase Plane Boosters, Ghost, Foldildo, etc. Then repaint time for a vanilla VF-11C Fast Pack, Protect Armor Accessory, and they can do a full 1/60 M7 / VFX2 license and redo the 1/60 YF-21 as a VF-22S.
-
Hopefully we will see a retooled 1/60 with all the 1/48 improvements. Make a metal hip bar and a metal ring BP11 (or whatever part that is for the backpack piece) and everything should be good.

The new subject title is pretty funny. I pretend there are no other RPG's than WEG's old D6 SWRPG. Well that and Traveller: The New Era with GDW's d20 system, maybe.

Where did those VF-22S come from? Milia, Max, and Gamlin / Diamond Force schemes... look great! Transformable?
-
Yeah, I was initially fearing the same thing but so far it's tip top. My beef with the gunpod is more of a design thing and that Yamato chose to put the arms towards the top of the legs rather than towards the middle as the Kawamori Design Works shows.
-
Just thinking about how much better I like the lines on the YF-19 with the legs and how similar it looks in fighter form to the VF-19F/S. So it appears these FAST packs were incorporated into the standard fuselage, after a fashion with the later FAST packs being true booster type deals. Anyways, hoping we get a gray "low-viz" that either matches the current FP set or has color matched VF-19A FP. Leave the Foldildo off and price it at $199 please.

1/18 scale would be my choice, so we could have some reasonably sized Valkyries (at least VF1) without them being absolutely massive. 1/36 or 1/48 would probably be best, but I wouldn't be opposed to a 1/60 style scale that could remind me of Exo Squad.

I don't think all that hassle is worth 50 bucks to me. YMMV. Definitely recommend Warhawk, though. Good easy fun. Not quite as good with infantry as BF2, but still damned fun.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion
Uxi replied to HoveringCheesecake's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Heh, I remember I used to spend Sunday evenings watching Rome and then Battlestar and while I miss Rome, it was definitel a love/hate thing with Battlestar. Still wish they had done a continuation rather than a remake. Hopefully they put some aliens in the last episode to piss off Olmos. -
I'm all for v3 Snake EYes coming out, too. Almost as iconic as v2 (and I always liked v3 more than v1, but that was probably due to how much better the sculpting was by that point). Give him some removable knifes for his chest and the same little packpack with sword sheath, please.
-
Got Warhawk today and after getting killed a whole bunch of times learning how to control myself, started to have alot of fun. Kinda wish there was the option for infantry only... guess I keep BF2 and RFoM around for that...
-
Yeah, whole shebang came off, so there's a flat pad there.
-
Argh, my Commando / Anniversary Pack Commando Snake Eyes holster broke off (only changed the pistol in about 5 or 6 times total). Looks like I just need a little spot of glue, but still a bit irritating. Just thought I'd vent.
-
They're usually red, at least for the Marines. Always use blanks and BFA's with MILES/TWGSS laser tag, too.
-
Someone's been watching too much LaBlue Girl.
-
Yeah, the backpack thrust is up and folded. Out of the 5 or 6 full transformations I've done so far, that thing got stuck once, and I had to resort to a mixutre of finger nail and paperclip to get it out... but that's neither here nor there. It looks like it does clear, but only by a little bit. Mostly a nit pick, but the codpiece just kinda sticks out (though obviously not as bad as on the 1/72).
-
Do we have a ball park MSRP? Should be roughly what the YF-19 is, right?
-
Nice discussion that merits some resurrection. I've long thought Yamato should revisit the 1/60 VF-1 line since most of the features we have in the 1/48, from radar nose cone to the flaps, the transformation design (hip bar deal might need to be metal, but easy enough), removable intake covers, engine / intake detail, opening canopy, airbrake, etc are easily implemented in 1/60. VF-11 could be the perfect opportunity to begin to incorporate all the stuff they've learned and begin doing stuff at a unified scale, instead of popping all over the place.
-
I saw that in Graham's review, but couldn't get it. I tried with a paper clip, too, but still couldn't. I don't think it's big enough to really affect much anyway. A separate flap by one of our modder/caster guys would make me very happy.
-
That was fixed for the FP version of the 1/72. I probably have a couple hundred transformations on mine and not a sign of stress. From Graham's review/url]: "The shoulder sliders, which were constructed of ABS plastic on the original YF-21 and were very prone to stress cracking have now been changed to PVC. So far after multiple transformations and some fairy rough handling by me, they have shown no signs of cracking or stress."

TIVO would be the natural choice for North America...
