  1. I'm fairly confident this means an HM-R VF-4 (and possibly a series of 19s like VF-19 and YF-19) is on the way, which would be sweet. Then again, maybe it will just be teased at the show. And we know how Bandai has been with teasing products in HM-R, and then waiting a while to release them...

That's cool if it is a VF-4, but DAMMIT Bandai!! Finish the Destroids and give us a TV QRau!

As far as the destroids, my thoughts exactly. It's my opinion that Bandai is holding out on these to keep people's attention on the line, knowing that they are the ones people still want.

Awesome! The only thing that keeps this photo from being perfect is the fact that Bandai hasn’t released a Tomahawk or Phalanx for @Saburo to include with the other destroids.

  3. @grymg, that Devastator looks great. Those G1 reissues really bring back memories. I had the separate Constructicons, but I remember getting the gift set for the Aerialbots.

Is it a WalMart exclusive? And is there something on the packaging that clarifies it’s a reissue? I’ve seen those reissues for a while but never was sure what made them different from the originals.

Hope we see the TV VF-1S and TV fast packs at the Tamashii event later this month!

That would be fantastic! Having skipped the 1J, I'd definitely PO a 1S. I just hope they'd include both a Roy and Hikaru pilot for a TV version.

Now I'm thinking if I should buy an extra Super Parts just in case I decided to color it for my VF-1D.

Because seriously, who doesn't like an orange Super Parts on their VF-1D's?

Just be sure you make them a slightly different shade of orange from the valk, like Bandai did on the HMR VT-1.

From these pics, besides the pose ability I dont really say any major upgrades over the 1/48 Yamato VF1's.

Are you counting waist swivel under posability? That seems pretty major in my opinion.

I don’t own any Yamato 1/48, but it appears to me that lots of small upgrades (better sculpt, larger hands, articulated head lasers, etc) can add up to make this a “major” upgrade overall.

  7. It seems to me like the VF-1 itself and the super/strike parts are not bundled together. Meaning it would be over $200 for the combination. As @Slave IV said, not such a great deal for a KO.

More likely that these are parts that didn't pass QC initially, or excess part inventory from the Chinese factories.

This sounds to me like what may be going on here.

The last Thor film was my favorite out of the series, but I like captain America the best as a character in the films.

If you mean that Ragnarok was the best of the Thor movies, I’d have to agree. It was pretty solid, better than Black Panther in my opinion.

I’ll also be sad to see Captain America leave, as he’s probably my favorite character as well. I think his first movie and the first Iron Man might be my favorite MCU films, partly because I really enjoy origin stories.

Because 'officially' the VF-1J didn't had the Super Pack in the series.

I'm hoping they make a super VF-1S, especially if it comes with Hikaru.

Super or not, surely they'll eventually do a VF-1S, and hopefully a TV version to go with the VF-1J.

I fear all those shots of classic Transformers designs could be flashbacks from Bumblebee telling his story to the girl (can't remember her name) and won't be an active part of the story

This was exactly my thoughts as well, along with the idea that the flashback might only be a couple of minutes out of the entire film. If it were truly a reboot (as others have commented) then it’d be a lot more encouraging. But if they’re planning this as a prequel, and using these teasers to lure in the G1 die hards (like me) then I think many of us will be disappointed.

Still, though, it’s the first TF movie since 2007 that I’m actually interested in seeing.

  11. So, I’ve been giving some thought to getting a PVM (not necessarily Sony) for my retro systems. For those that have done this already, what have you done as far as audio?

Knowing that PVM internal speakers are usually pretty bad, I’m thinking I’d want to get something external. I have a component switch that I run everything through, so I could theoretically take the stereo audio channels from that via RCA out.

  12. I just realized that these display bases are apparently made of the same components as what comes with the 1/100 armor. So if you had several of the 1/100 armor sets, you could put something like that together, minus the graphics.

Looks like you’d basically need to buy two of the sci-fi system sets they sell in order to have enough parts to assemble in the Detolf the way that @Saburo did.

And @sh9000, that armor painted like the GBP does look cool.

I don't think anyone has put one up on shapeways.  The recent HMR VT-1 release has a display adapter that works well with non-super part fighter mode valks.

I believe before that, the Mass Production VF-1A was the last HMR to come with the "correct" non-super part fighter adapter.  I could be wrong on that, though.

As far as getting one stand-alone, yeah, you'd be looking at buying it off of someone willing to part with it.

I’m pretty sure that before the VT-1, the only HMR that came with the true non-super fighter stand adapter was the original VF-1J armored. The brown VF-1A included one for super parts. All the original Hi Metal VFs (except the strike Roy) from several years ago also included the correct fighter adapter.

Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night coming to PS4 next month.

Cool! I own both of the original versions and don’t have a PS4, so this isn’t for me, but always nice to see great titles like these given respect and exposure.

I wonder what they will look like emulated. And I’m assuming this is the original Rondo and not the remade version from the PSP?

  15. I can understand BW requiring a licensee to make anniversary schemes, but I can’t figure why they want them to be so overly colorful and decorated. In this example, I think if they toned it down some by removing maybe 40% of the striping and most of the lettering, it could look really good.

I wasn’t really into the anniversary Messer scheme in HMR, but I thought it was much more tastefully done in terms of the amount of deco.

Then again, at least they aren’t doing one of these:

Only time will tell with this DX VF-1, I guess.  Can only hope it'll be as sturdy and quite a tank like the old 1/55s.

Hard to believe that anything could be as tank-like as the 1/55s, with their metal content and ratcheting joints. But I’d guess the larger DX scale would give them better durability.

I’m starting to wish I’d put in a PO for one of these. Maybe when the inevitable VF-1S is announced.
