Cool, I always enjoy your reviews. Your more recent photos on gray look really good.

Interesting that some of the articulation improvements were introduced to some degree on the Hi Metal R VF-1 (ankles, head, elbow).

Also: didn’t someone say earlier that it was just a matter of time before someone posted a middle finger shot with this new DX?

Is there any way to request Bandai to release the Phalanx and Tomahawk as exclusives? It does really look like they won't get released. :(

I think Bandai is just intentionally holding out, knowing that those destroids are in demand, to keep interest in the line. As popular as the Tomahawk is, I don’t see any way they’d refuse to make it.

Edit: All this talk of the Monster is making me want to track one down now...

They just haven’t sold them all yet. They have huge boxes, are huge themselves, and they’re north of $200. I bought one a while ago on sale, but it’s hard to justify when it costs so much.

I have toyed with the idea of getting one, but I really don't have space to display it, and it's pricey to ship. There was a point where Ami Ami had box damaged Monsters for ¥13000 or so before shipping, and I nearly pulled the trigger.

  4. Even though I preordered fairly late (October) my payment was just processed by HLJ and now available in PW. I think it will stay there a bit until we get clear of Christmas and whatnot. I’ll probably use FedEx since that’s been a good option for me from HLJ in the past.

Odd there’s no payment request from HLJ yet.

Don’t they just process payment automatically using your agreed-upon method? My order is with them as well, and it’s going straight to PW for now.

I tend to wait later / shortly before deadline to order twe items, now after the vf-31a debacle, this time I put my order much earlier

Yeah, this is also why I decided to be earlier than later on my PO. I’d rather be towards the front of the line.

I found it strange that they didn't package the toy in Fighter mode like Bandai and Yamarcadia do. Macross / Robotech valkyries are primarily Fighter planes, and the other 2 modes are their secret weapons. Especially since it's easier to learn to transform from Fighter > Guardian > Batteloid and not the other way around. Then again the Hi Metal R series are all packaged in Battroid right (sorry I'm going off memory, and I also don't own any HMR)?

Yes, Bandai packages all HMR VF-1s in battroid mode. It might be more space-efficient, or a reflection of the art on the box, which is usually in battroid. But I agree that VFs should be packed in fighter. The 1/100 Hi Metal (non-R) were done that way.

Toynami also packages their 1/100 VF-1S in battroid/battloid.

BTW, does anyone know how long the missile sets PO lasts until? I dont see it listed in p-bandai's page...

Am thinking if i can delay my purchase and get upfront payment listed in my next bill instead of my christmas bill

In my experience wth Hi Metal R, I’ve seen the TWEs stay open for PO at NY for at least a month. Not sure if that applies to DX or not.

gonna get 1 of this....Just in case Super & Strike Parts come with out it.

I really doubt the super parts will include the missiles.

I hope they release super/strike parts soon. My ultimate goal is a Hikaru-piloted TV VF-1S super valkyrie in with reaction missiles, even though I will probably have to piece it all together.

Am I the only one that is bugged by how out of scale and tiny the pilot looks?

It really bugs me a LOT, I already have prepared a pilot replacement for that! But considering Hikaru is like 1m60 in the serie, it makes sense in a way. I just hope that if Bandai release Roy's VF-1S that he will be in the correct size "Hikaru-overhead"

I was also thinking that maybe they were accounting for Hikaru not being the biggest pilot on the SDF-1, and that a future Roy or Kakizaki might fill out the cockpit more.

    Probably wishful thinking, though.

From the pics it seems like the attachment points on the missile sets are shaped almost identical to the Yamato design.  But, knowing Bandai, I am sure the tolerances will just be off *a tiny little bit* so that the Yamato ones (which we probably have many spare sets of) will not work.

I’d think the scale would also be off, with the 1/60 missiles looking too small on the 1/48.

I’m probably in for a set, even though it works out to around $3 per missile piece. Being TWE, I expect that initial prices at NY shouldnt be any higher than MSRP, right?

Finally picked up another regult; now I can actually open one lol (I like to keep one unopened).

Kicking myself for not buying more than one of the missile type sets. Those poor figs will never see the light of day :(

Yeah the Regult missile set has really skyrocketed. Really glad I bought one at release, but I’m also hesitant to open them now.

    Up to 6,354 now.

    Thank you

¥6354 ends up being ¥5883 if you're not in Japan, since the 8% tax is excluded.
