  1. Can't tell from this image if it's just shading or something, but is Gate supposed to have only one eye? Anyway this is a nice group image of all the Breakers team..
  2. I just opened mine, and messed with it briefly only in Fighter. The matte finishing looks really nice, but I'm struck by how solid everything feels in this mode. In hand, there isn't the usual flexing feel in a random area or two one might get with other Bandai DX. Taken together with the matte finishing, it feels very much like an Arcadia valk, which is always a good thing in my books. I really like how the wings are now tight, nicely flushed & properly aligned with the fuselage. When I compare in-hand feel with the old CF, the old version actually does have the same solid feeling when the parts come together to form the whole hull. It's just I never really noticed it before because the wings always had some slack on them in a way that was always distracting, plus more distraction of having to concentrate avoid touching or putting finger pressure on the damn triangles while handling.
  3. VF-171EX Revival. Cautiously optimistic that the issues of the old 171 have been fixed.
  4. I remember there is slight difference in tone between parts when new.. some are slightly cooler and other areas are warmer white. So your's look pretty much as good as new.
  5. Those tabs are par for the course on a VF-1 right? I'm seeing all modern iterations of VF-1 have them..
  6. Nice to see when a display comes together
  7. Pics from Gokin_z on X:
  8. Looking nice so far. Waiting for mine to be in stock at Hobby-Genki. One possible shortcoming is that there is no unmasked head for Gate; I wonder why they went with that decision. But perhaps it won't matter much since we won't really identify with this character anyway. The flying drone thingy looks like it has a character all on its own. The first thing that pops to mind is Opa-Opa from the very old shooter Fantasy Zone lol; or its incarnation in the Zillion anime series. Perhaps swap Houquet's head into this body and pretend it's another iteration of her reimagined armor haha.
  9. I feel most collectors go through roughly the same stages in their collecting journey. In no particular order - from tentatively dipping toes, going all in, starting small displays, migrate to whole display rooms, picking up multiples, filling in companion pieces, overcoming the mental pain of broken ones, to finally facing the dreaded running-out-of-space problems that forces one to finally confront the anguish of having to pare down collection lol. At each stage I finally identify with old posts that I previously read from collectors who have been in this game longer than me (this forum archives old threads well, it's nice to go through old conversations, something modern social media is really bad at). I'm at the culling collection stage now, very reluctantly at first, but it's pretty easy to sell off the duplicates but moving to sell the only copies I have of something is the next mental block.
  10. @the white drew carey very nice work!
  11. I remember Kara, watched it when it first came out and yeah it was pretty cool. Eventually played the game when it finally released many years later. Gameplay was average but it was among my first forays back into modern console gaming, so was sufficiently impressed by how much the visuals have moved forward by about 15 years when I first quit console gaming.
  12. Yeah the face on Max really needs adjustment. Cautiously optimistic that the costume material will be adjusted as well, seeing how they have also did that for Dana’s.
  13. Nice! Getting excited for Ride Armors all over again. As much as the other new Breaker designs look funny, I’ll likely collect them all. They seem to have stalled btw.. Hopefully them & Tread still in pipeline.
  14. Pics of 1/12 Max, now displayed in KC’s store.
  15. This is pretty cool. It reminds me of the 2020 movie Archive. Although looking back now it doesn't look anything like it, it just somehow gives off similar vibes..
  16. I was always interested in how they would have done removable armor for Dana; it would have been tough even for 1/6 scale whilst keeping the right proportions. Anyway for the Battle Pod pilot, KC has confirmed it will be articulated. I’m just wondering now if it will be as articulated as their other 1/12 figures, or just simple joints enough to fold it into the cockpit. But I’m optimistic on the former as it’s size appears large enough for more modern joint articulation.
  17. Just noticed that the release date for their 1/12 Max figure is now June 2024 lol. Still no sight of 1/12 Miriya, back when they offered it with the VF-1A Max & Miriya Metal Editions.
  18. Brawling..
  19. I remember when PO first went up, the wait time to release was unusually long.. but now suddenly it is almost here haha.
  20. I knew nothing about Dune before both parts of Villenueve's versions, except knowing that the old PC game was very successful & very highly regarded. Just for kicks, I watched the David Lynch 1984, Spicediver Edit version today. I now get why it was so much maligned when it came out, it's pretty much incoherent by itself and if not having watched Villenueve's, I would have been totally lost. More than that though, I'm pretty shocked by how B-grade the visuals appear to be... Yeah in the 80's there are worst looking productions out there, and perhaps I'm unfairly comparing with the most memorable productions of its era like SW, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, Aliens etc. But it struck me how much of a gulf in the looks department between 2024 Dune and 1984 Dune, when Blade Runner 2049 does not necessarily look much better than Blade Runner 1982. Whatever my complains on the visuals of Villenueve's Dune, I take it back now lol.
  21. I watched it today, and against better judgement went in without rewatching Part 1 hoping to recall enough details of it lol. Immediately realized it was a mistake, and it took quite a bit to try to remember everything that happened previously as stuff unfolded in this new movie. I remember thinking P1 was occasionally a bit of a drag then, but I knew it was mostly world building stuff & backstories that needed time & space to be established. All in, the pacing was generally faster this time around, if a bit uneven, and from 2nd half onwards things do move at much faster pace with important expositions being dropped in a few very quick scenes. The action sequences were done well, I would have preferred if they had dragged them out a bit longer to compensate for all the slower scenes. My main peeve, and this is a personal preference, is the color palette. Most of everything takes place in the deserts, and coupled with the desaturated hues, everything starts to look too monochromatic. The scenes outside of Arrakis, although similarly drained of colours, were a welcome change to the eyes. Perhaps a different approach to colors would have worked better, but if there is a Part 3, I won't expect this aspect to change since the whole look is already firmly established.
  22. 9cm would be the packaging length, in keeping with what looks to be Tomica’s usual practice when they publish dimensions. The actual item will obviously be shorter in length, hence I put the black base at upper limit of 8.5cm, & eyeballing the VF within the base likely puts it to be around 7cm. But it could well be smaller than that. For eg, when I look at some Tomica unboxing vids, the item inside is really much smaller in comparison to its packaging. Still, a couple of cm difference at this size won’t matter much I guess.
  23. Anything from 6.5 to 8.5cm then, do you reckon?
  24. Most probably will pick these up for novelty.. but waiting for the actual size to be confirmed, which is likely to be after release I guess.
