MEP’s Breetai is pretty low priced, that instead of an articulated figure with limited possibility, I think of it as a nice fixed pose figure with a bit of articulation bonus
  2. NY being the only retailer that have managed to list Arcadia web exclusives cheaper than MSRP is an anomaly. Even if factoring shipping price gouge, it hardly makes up for the discount. I can only think they could have a backdoor deal with Arcadia for bulk purchase discount, not unlike normal releases.

Sigh... after what seems like the greatest destroid & Zentraedi mecha line that is well on its way to completion, now it's turning into one of the longest blue-balls line.
  4. All Arcadia PF releases have been web exclusives so far, except for the PF VE-1. On flip side, the VE-1 did not have a normal version under Arcadia. Some of them feel like normal releases, because more retailers seem to carry these PF valks as compared to Bandai's web exclusives.
  5. Great stuff @Lolicon! The VF-11 is such a beauty! But I'm not holding out hope Arcadia will ever issue it. So far, they seem to have given up on any cannon-fodder stuff ever since taking over from Yamato..
  6. Perhaps try getting an HMR VF-4 first? It really is a mini-me Arcadia VF-4 not only sculpt, but in-hand feel as well, more so than any other Bandai-Arcadia valks. I know you don't collect smaller scale stuff, but this can be something that sits on your desk as a fiddler..
  7. Yup battroid mode is really not a looker.. but its balanced out by its amazingly sleek fighter mode that's much better in hand than what pics convey. One extreme to the other.. Battroid mode only works for me if it is in a floating or flying pose, and pretend that awkward kibble behind the shoulders and back is some sort of billowing cloak..
  8. From the pics, premium finish comes with pilot figure. Normal finish does not.
  9. I suppose, a pink Houquet is Sentinel’s way of making her stand out from the Zeta’s sea of red.. but there are so many more shades in between both colours that could sufficiently differentiate her from the Zeta.
  10. There’s none of those ‘no step’ markings & the panel lines they showed off previously as the supposed premium finish version. This is from Macross Flashback 2012. Hikaru is the actual pilot, so it’s cannon.
  11. Up for pre-order. Doesn’t say premium finish though.. http://www.anime-export.com/product/48600
  12. The Zeta's head-fin seem to drag on the ground in Fighter mode..
  13. This is the impression I get as well. He may be contracting out to a factory for his products (are limited, few hundred pieces considered mass production?) but legalities aside, he comes across to me as a consummate hobbyist, perfectionist in his models & a big fan of Macross.
  14. Die-cast metal base would be some improvement over their current Router-style stands that are modelled after the Flightpose ones. The Router-style stand seems to have quite a bit going for it, as compared to Flightpose. For one, it is quite a bit cheaper (at least, in my part of world), and the bundled extra varying length arms are a great bonus (You get 3 x 4” arms, 1 x 6” and 1 x 2”). However, the biggest flaw is the base itself. The footprint is too small, and being lightweight hollow plastic, the whole stand tips over easily if trying to balance a plane or valk on it at angles you might be used to with a Flightpose. Which is a shame, because the provided varying length arms appear to give more dynamic posing options, yet the base itself can’t handle it. Dynamic angles can only be reasonably handled if using 2 of the shortest length 2” arms, so there’s less leverage acting on the base to tip over, but this necessitates using 2 sets of stands for getting 2 x 2” arms. This new die-cast metal base would be an improvement, assuming it’s a solid die-cast, yet it still retains the small footprint. The F-14 is a much bigger plane than the VF-1, and I wonder if it can handle the same angles as the VF-1J shown.
  15. Always loving your video reviews @jenius I wish Sentinel didn't change their square base design for this Legioss. For the longest time, they have been using this other somewhat modular base for many of their figures. The smaller base with the transparent plastic layer on the surface was used for their smaller figures (like the Ride Armors), but for larger figures, it came with additional, matt black connector pieces to expand the base into a bigger size. Now, the base with this Legioss is similarly sized to the old expanded base, but simplified into a 1-piece design. However, the shiny and almost featureless surface reminds me of lids of boxes from dollar stores.
  16. Although the line art thread is old, it is gold for newerbie like me. Such a treasure trove! And thanks for posting up the PDF links Carl.
  17. Bandai has done something like the Optimus ultimetal before.. with the DX Soul of Chogokin Mazingers. https://www.gunjap.net/site/?p=112801 Yeah having one done for the VF-1 would be a real great display piece..
  18. Other than the triangle gap filler on the back of knees in fighter mode carried over from the VF-0A & 0S, I just only noticed another difference between the normal VF-0D & all subsequent VF-0 releases: The gun in fighter mode is mounted further forward, and looks to be to allow the arrestor hook to fully swing down without being blocked by the gun.
  19. I'm really hesitant to start a new collecting line.. this is suppose to be a once-off, but some of the other ships are so tempting! Do Eaglemoss do re-issues on any kind of frequency? I do not want to regret not picking these up now and only see them at eye-popping prices years down the road. Some of random older stuff from other franchises I've seen recently but now out of print are just going for stupid prices.
  20. It's been an exciting couple of days. Many items from various far away places, vastly different shipping times & shipping methods so happen to all arrive at the same time. Just opened up the Legioss, and so far have only been fiddling at it in Fighter mode. Really loving handling it so far on the accessible gimmicks in this mode: the various missile bays, the landing gears, it all feels really great quality. Swooshing it around fulfilled the fantasies from back in the day when the Legioss 'toy' to me was just a simple paper origami.. But in hand, there's some unexpected minor gripes in this mode. In all the prior pics & videos, the gaps between the shoulders and the wings, and also the hole at the back of cockpit can be unsightly, just like the see-through gap area in Yamato's SV-51 fighter mode (rectified in Arcadia's update). The big surprise which I didn't catch earlier is the huge gap between the legs when viewed from top. Another nitpick would be the cockpit glass itself. The clear plastic has some slight opacity to it, and minute swirl / wavy marks throughout, which recalls the old Yamato 1/48 valks as compared to other modern valks we have today. Also mildly disappointed the landing gears are plastic instead of metal. Not an issue now, but as the rear landing gears can be quite stiff to deploy, the concern would be tendency of breakage in later years when the plastic ages and take on brittle qualities. Given all the various gimmicks and subtle stuff Sentinel employed throughout the whole toy, I have wondered why there isn't an opening behind the cockpit for a folded-up ride armor gimmick haha.. I wonder if this is really feasible in any toy form since that space appear to be taken up by the shoulder sensor array for Soldier mode.
  21. This is a great pic! Much respect to collectors who are willing to not only bring their higher end stuff out in the open outdoors, but also won't bat so much an eyelid setting them down on the ground and dirt to give everyone else great pics.
  22. Didn't get a PO in for Roy's VF-1S at retail as well, despite brute force vigorous F5-ing and camping at all the usual sites. It has worked for me every time over the past few years, and now finally failed at it. It is these times I just gotta take my mind back to the days when we were schooled on how to lose graciously lol.. Can't really speak for others, but after calming down, I am not so affected anymore having failed to PO this and a large part is likely due to already having in hand the prior VF-1s in this line to satiate expectations. So will just wait and see nearer to release to pick up a copy on secondary market at reasonable resale price. In hindsight, it is good that Bandai didn't start this line with Roy's. The level of PO panic buying from scalpers may likely be much more than what it is now, and push the price up even further to astronomical levels..
  23. It's a good thing Calibre Wings announced their Macross Zero F-14. Although it is on different scale, it will look great displayed with this VF-0D & VF-0A, as sort of to show off the evolution of Shin's ride from F-14 to the VF-0A, also representing the evolution from real fighters to the valkyries. The VF-0A will stick out a bit though, as the plane-jane mech in this group in terms of paint job..
  24. Yes, if every of their upcoming premium items is like this VF-0D, I would gladly double dip on both normal AND premium versions..
