get a pic of it next to the 1/48 for size comparison, i want to see if it'll fit on my desk.
-
is 83 feet about 10 stories? i'm wondering how good my estimate was :-D
-
you realize that even at 1.48 scale, the sdf would be several storys tall like, jusdging from the size of a VF-1 1/48 i'm estimating in the 10 story range.... PROBABLY more

Actually they did salvage the Tomcat later. I saw pictures of it. I have to find it. I read that it was an expensive operation as well. Funny they spent that much money to prevent it from falling into USSR hands only to have the only country that the f-14 was exported to go revolutionary and be friendly with comunist states. Yeah, about two months after the NR-1 found it, the British trawler Boston Halifax snagged it twice with her steel trawl but the net broke upon raising it. Finally two West German salvage boats got it up. First they spun out a steel cable between them and then ran it along the bottom until it snagged the F-14. Then one of the did circles around the site and lay cable out to wrap up the F-14, after which they dropped a 50 ton shackle down to tighten the knot and then lifted it to about 500 feet of the surface. After that they towed it 80 miles to shallower and calmer waters so that hard hat diver could get to it. Pretty hard work for one plane, eh? I'm not really suprised after what happend during the cold war with the B-29 Bomber. (same type as the enola gay) Some B-29's had to land in Russia or a Russian Territory for what ever reason, and the Russians took them a part peice by peice, and studied every single peice. They then copied the plane bit for bit. At some air show a couple years later (i think) some U.S. diplomats were visiting Russia for an air show and were shocked when a squadron of the United States most advanced bomber of the time flew over head painted with Russian insignias.

Jolly Rogers Super Hornets, pics!
KingNor replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
that paint scheme was made to fit a tomcat, it doesn't look good on the hornets. they should come up with a new scheme that actually looks right on the hornet (similar to how the paterns on the Blue Angles change ever time they get diffrent planes) you can't very well force the paint scheme of one vehicle onto another and expect it to look good. -
Yeah, but Sauron was a wuss. Melkor was where it was at. Sauron was pretty crafty too... I mean.. tricking his enemies into using the rings he made, then making the one ring to control them all? Yeah, but Ungoliant was the real badass. She devoured the tree of light and destroyed Melkor. IIRC my point is that Saurons Army accomplished nothing aside from sacking some rohan farms. thus, bad evil military :-)

from what i could tell, sauron and his legions of dark forces got PWNED everytime they tried to do anything. 5-6 ring wraiths defeated by one guy. same wraiths on horseback out run by hobbits on foot. SAME "unstopable" wraiths defeated by river. 20+ Uruk-Hai killed by Boromir. failed to get ring Remaining Uruk-Hai failed to keep Hobbits they DID get. Balrog, killed by Wizard. 10000 Orcs/Uruk-Hai defeated by Rohan. Sauromon defeated by Ents it goes on an on, sauron really had zero victorys as far as i could tell.. some dark lord.

how many of you buy doubles of your toys?
KingNor replied to GobotFool's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
i buy one, tear the box apart take my stuff out, apply stickers if included, transform once without instructions untill foiled, then use instructions. play with it for a week since new toys facinate me. then it goes on my bookshelf. the box is thrown away that day. (except my 1/48 kept the box for transporting it) -
i'm SO glad we dont' alow pictures in our sigs, look how obnoxious that site is. those signatures are like 20 times the size of their posts. bravo mw.

pretty much what i was thinking. the idea you'd need a bayonett release as accessable and often so as to make a trigger nessesary is pretty unlikely. oh, and a saftey on a gun is always a good idea, it makes sence to have a safty on the gun pob because it can be fired with out the mech, and ESPECIALLY if it can be fired by a Zentradi. saying the gunpod won't fire unless you tell it to is something like saying a pistol won't fire unless you pull the trigger. if the gun is a self contained firearm then it stands to reason that it could fire for any number of reasons. safetys are a good thing.

what are you gonna charge for these? i'll pay it!

they could hit, and blow up the man shaped cobra robots. but shooting the man shaped men NEXT to the robots wasn't possible. i'm thinking those battles were just a front for a g.i. joe coalition with cobra. something smells foul. i'd put both autobot and dicepticon militarys way high up on the "ineffective" scale. 3million years of war and still no clear winners.

Incredible Tug! this defys logic. i'm still lookin to be sure its real, if so, amazing.

"Stealth" aboard USS Abraham Lincoln
KingNor replied to Shake n Bake's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
hollywood has been pretty retarded for quite a while, i'm supprised you guys are so shocked they'd get the subtle nuances of a fictional airplane done right. there are so manythings wrong with this mockup just in the cockpit area. visibility, over all design, flight suit/helmet (i mean, they're ON AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER, JUST GRAB A REAL HELMIT!) and like someone was mentioning on the other boards. "all those seams and forward edges, what is stealthy about this thing?" i do however give MASSIVE props to the moviemakers for not going CG with it. very cool in that respect. -
i want one (if its possible can the starwars special go on there too? i've never seen it and can't find it )
-
get the american release, on the off chance and highly rare occasion something anime based worth buying comes out of the U.S. i think it should be supported! if this stuff sells well here, it'll help the entire industry. you know?
-
hey that looks pretty neat. i'm not a huge fan of what ever anime that came from, but i do remember seeing it in robotech a few times. thats gotta be the best one of those on the market huh?
-
cool thanks for the info
-
they get really weird on that space ship thingy don't they, i'm not even sure what it is.. that city thing they found. Misa starts doing dishes and crap.. and hikaru.. well.. he was alone.. no one was looking..
-
cool info page, what are the two triggers for?
-
omg i NEVER thought about it that way. well... i guess if you think of baseball or any sport as a TV show, yeah. the plot only has three outcomes, the heros win, the villans win or they break even. kinda seems hard to complain about tv serise plot lines now that i think about the popularity of professional sports! dang, way to ruin the fun!!!

i then showed her the following image, and she said thats not what he looked like... i'm kinda thinking shes just being homophobic and obtuse, but who knows.
