So was SDFM moved to a more primetime slot once it got popular or was it only popular with adult geeks/insomniacs? Or were VCRs already so pervasive in Japan that everyone just taped it?

Blacks are usually most of the picture! you aren't going to get a better picture on an LCD. even the best LCDs (at least 2x as much as a cheap, fast TN-Film (limited viewing angle) that are popular) fall short of the full color range of a CRT, let alone "response" of a CRT. sure you can get good colors by exagerating contrast and saturation, but you'll get overblown images and colors that look the same between, say, 80% red and 100% red visible. When will people realise that NEW DOES NOT ALWAYS EQUAL BETTER.?!?!! SDF Macross is in SD btw...

Check out the blacks on a CRT and then on an LCD. No competetition. CRT wins. Not only does HD material look better but SD material also looks WAY better. The only advantage of LCD is you can get bigger screens.

its a very cool collection but the Aliens "express elevator to hell" doesnt blend. It should be displayed seperately, maybe with a Hot Toys power lifter and a Hicks and a Hudson or something.

I`m looking at picking up a 2nd Toshiba VHD deck for 1000 yen. I can get 10 movies for another 1000 yen. Good deal? It`s still the only format that does true 3D.

I recommend to any import gamers studying the Japanese katakana and hiragana scripts an hour every day for a week. Those will get you very far in a lot of Japanese game menus. It`s pretty much a simple memorisation exercise. Like learning the alphabet. Kanji on the other hand is a little more difficult..

Anybody who isn`t willing to even try to watch Macross subtitled or learn Japanese isn`t a true Macross fan.

I would guess it was the extremely detailed and well done episodes animated in Japan not Korea that were rushed.

More time doesn`t equal great anime. Some episodes of SDFM were rushed from the studio to the TV station the same day they were due to air.

Raiden III is the best game on PS2 for my money. I haven`t missed burning coins at the arcade like I used to on it.
