This hit the nail on the head for me. At the time of the original Macross gritty space operas inspired by Gundam were the trend. Not only is this much more appealing to me but it was also in my time, when I was young. This just isn`t my time and I failed to feel any connection to Macross Frontier. I guess its impossible to recreate the feeling of the original Macross in current times if you want it to make money and have mass appeal with today`s generation.

that landmate looks way too...shiny..is that really what they look like in the newer anime? I`m a huge fan of the first 2 comic book volumes but that kit doesn`t feel like a landmate to me.

Just got the MGS PS3 pack and started to get into MGO. MGO really is the thinking mans COD4. Looking forward to figuring out all the menus and controls properly. COD4 is still great for that instant gratification tho.

Amazing as usual. If I have to nitpick I personally would have Misa speaking Japanese saying "Daedalus Attacku Hasshin!" or whatever she says in Japanese if you want a truely authentic Macross experience. Also I like the above suggestion of taking "Engrish"off the original Japanese soundtrack if you prefer it to be English.

This is a good/interesting question. I`ve just started my Yamato collection and I`ve limited myself to 1/60 DYRL? for the time being. I think the key is dividing your collection into smaller completion goals. Then I can be satisfied sooner when I have all in that mini set. And then I can move onto the next set. I haven`t decided what that would be yet but probably 1/60 TV.

if I can pick up the v1 cheap I don`t mind because I`ll just be leaving it in plane mode. But yes hopefully when the v2 comes out the v1 price will go through the floor.

the perfect v2 1/60s FINALLY got me to start my collection for real. This is the core I`ve built this month. I think I`ve got the DYRL basics down? VE-1 isn`t really key but I love the design. I think the next most essential DYRL machine is the Super Ostrich?

Ah! I hate that kind of stuff. Its completely unecessary and alters history. ie the way we watched and enjoyed the show when it aired.

The movie looks horrible for fans that grew up over the `80s and `90s. Resolute looks redeeming. Whoever said that this looks like a good popcorn movie and aren`t worried if its not intelligent > thats not really the point. The movie can be schlock but it should be in the style of what fans remember, not in the style of recent CGI superhero movies.

So I`m collecting movie props instead of SWI combat artefacts?

haha, yeah thats a funny thing in Japan. Japanese are always like "Japanese love rules and are so polite" but in fact they`re way more selfish and ruder than anybody in my home country Australia or in the US when I visited.

So where exactly does the VE-1 appear in DYRL? I`m asking because I`m finally expanding my Yamato collection from my lone VE-1. I`m impressed with all the new TV schemes (Max especially) but want my new aircraft to fit in with the VE-1`s canon.

Did the VE-1 ever make an appearance in SDF TV?

I want these two in my collection next. What would be the simplist way to make these happen?What exact toys would I need and what modifications would I need to make? Thanks in advance.

It`s a dangerous slippery slope. Just look at what happened when Lucas went back to "make a few changes"... It`s also contrary to my memories as I was watching the series as it aired. It ruins the nostalgia later on. I`ll be like "I don`t remember it that way..that wasn`t there before...um wtf is happening??"

It`s completely unneccessary and what`s more it`s wrong. The way it aired on TV is canon to me, you can`t change history.
