  1. Anyone else notice one of the shows sponsors is Tokyo Marui, the airgun company?
  2. still the coolest thread on the internet.
  3. Maybe I`m wrong but wasn`t there a Macross TV Special that showcased the first episode of Macross F last year (the Deculture Edition?) ? I heard somewhere it included live talk segments and retrospectives on previous series. Am I dreaming this and if not where can I torrent it please?
  4. Could someone summarise what we know so far on the first page of this thread. It might be nice for the less regular visitors to MW like me.
  5. Got my LE box delivered 2 days ago here in Tokyo. Great set, perfect presentation as always with Japanese releases. The lineart and conte books are amazing and the extras are funny (replica 1984 Skylark (Like a Japanese Denny`s) Macross giveaway puzzle! and replica ticket stub) It was nice they included the original DYRL? cut that actually screened in 1984 (without the extended ending) and the extras on the disc 3 are nice and all directly DYRL related. I`ve seen some of them on the LD and on the 20th anniversary disc before but some new stuff there.
  6. I finally got around to listening to my copy of the CD and with my limited Japanese have enjoyed it quite a lot. I have two questions for those more familiar with it: 1) I`m presuming the Millard character a younger version of the base commander in Macross Plus? 2) Is there a synopsis of the story available in English online? I can`t find one. Thanks in advance.
  7. I hope to be in your position in a few months, OP. Looking forward to finally starting my collection too.
  8. Still can`t login from home but I look forward to going to work now so I can check up. Exciting times.
  9. Won`t the next generation of real world fighters be remote control?
  10. I`ve been having exactly the same problem for weeks. I`ll try to.
  11. Yeah I think as others have said already that Max was top in terms of pure skill but as an overall combat pilot Roy was the best. Who would you rather fly with? Roy for me.
  12. Who kept Hikaru alive at the beginning? It took a team player like Roy to do that. Max just seemed to do his own thing. Max also let the Cat`s Eye get captured while he was chasing more kills and engaged in a pitched battle INSIDE the SDF1 city complex, endangering and probably killing many civilians. Wouldn`t a great pilot show better judgement?
  13. A great pilot is a good leader. Do you think Max could have won SWI by himself? Humanity barely won with hundreds of pilots and a singer using psychological warfare. Most of the other pilots probably didnt like Max much but Roy made sure more of those CF pilots came home alive so they could coordinate to defeat the enemy in the final battle. On top of that Roy was a combat ace with more experience and likely more career kills than Max.
  14. I voted for Roy just because like others have said he was a leader and a veteran who inspired people under his command.
  15. Laserdisc inherently has none of these problems as its uncompressed and analogue.
  16. Hmm thanks for your reply. I guess if the electronics companies made it easy for us to choose optimal equipment that will last our lifetime they`d go out of business..
  17. JsARCLIGHT - What`s your opinion on LD played back on a decent player with a comb filter? Since its an analog uncompressed source some say its more "film like" to watch than DVD and even BR/HD-DVD. Do you agree?
  18. The Japanese LDs are in Stereo too.
  19. Replace the main gun with MGs?? Nuh uh.. I`m sure a 120mm comes in plenty handy to take out buildings and bunkers being used as fighting positions.
  20. I`m thinking of picking up that perfect collection LD set next time I`m at that job. It has some nice insert booklets and is in good condition for 9000 yen. Not bad considering the original retail would have probably been 5 times that.
  21. Just got home from work where I was able to check the Orguss TV "Perfect Edition" LD Boxset at the nearby "Hard Off" (dubious name I know) used place on my dinner break. The box states its in Stereo with Digital Audio.
  22. If he can have GI Joe then I`m having The Hogan Family.
  23. Theres a used joint near where I work on Tuesdays with the LD boxset. I`ll check the audio then if no one does it before me.
