  1. Anyone know what this cool looking fighter jet is?! It lools like the YF-21 from Macross Plus!
  2. I was wondering if there is a 2D Shoot Em Up (Horizontal or Vertical), where you start off with all weapons maxed up and as you progress, your primary weapons’ power / ammunition gradually decrease?! So in this fashion you’re forced to kill off everything fast and complete each level before your primary weapons are completely depleted?! The closest to this scenario I can think of are 2 Shooters: Macross 2 (Arcade / Mame). The levels have a timer pushing you to finish each level and boss fast before it runs out. Carrier Airwing / U.S. Navy (Arcade/ Mame) Where your energy bar / fuel tank is gradually decreasing (especially even more if you’re shot)! I would like to try something different more challenging and more adrenaline oriented than the classic 2D Shmup formula. It can be on any system, as it’ll do just fine
  3. Panorama mode in Radein Project specifically, is the best stretching mode I've encountered on a vertical shooter, as it does not deform the display like it would in other vertical shooters and it looks perfect. However I don’t see the point in the “turn the TV side way mode” as not many people would attempt the risk by turning their TV on its side just to play a shooter. Now with Raiden 3 PC it’s a different story, as a lot of TFT monitors give the ability to rotate them 90 degrees vertically from its pivot. So it’s a pity Panorama mode was not used in other vertical console shmups.
  4. Wait until you play Raiden Project, the arcade perfect compilation of Raiden I & II for the PS-1/2! Not only does it feature awesome arranged music tracks (Even a CD soundtrack was released last year!) it also has a cool panorama mode that stretches the display to fit on the whole screen (Regular TV) eliminating those annoying black vertical borders on the sides!
  5. Last year I bought Raiden 3 for the PS-2 but I wasn’t that impressed primarily due to the fact that the purple “snake” laser was missing, the graphics weren’t that impressive for PS-2 standards and the over all gameplay just didn’t feel like Raiden. However, yesterday I played Raiden 3 on the PC and I was greatly impressed! For some reason the gameplay and the over all speed was quite improved and the graphics looked a lot sharper. Especially in TATE when rotating the 19” TFT monitor vertically, it looked awesome and felt like a vertical arcade monitor. Now, if they had added the Purple snake laser it would have been perfect! Is it my imagination, or does Raiden 3 PC really take advantage of the better PC graphics hardware compared to the PS-2? I also noticed that the intro sequence was shortened on the PC version. I hope they haven't cut the ending sequence as well, as I haven’t completed it yet. By the way, anybody knows whether Raiden 4 will be released for the PC some time next year? The classic purple snake laser is present on the arcade version of Raiden 4; I would love to see it on my PC! 6. Awesome Lego Shoot Em Up & Robotech/Macross & Sci-Fi creations There’s is quite a few Shmup and Mecha LEGO concepts here: http://unicornbreak.com/Masokotanga/blog/rss.xml Very cool and impressive I found the Ulysses / Odysseus 3000 Star ship: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=215682 This sturdy looking battle cruiser: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=260090 This awesome air ship looks like something straight out of Steel Empire: http://www.brickfrenzy.com/model/Dewey_full/dscn2694.jpg And this 6 legged spider Mecha is similar to the 4th level Boss in 1945 Strikers II. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/178/4835641...d12a583.jpg?v=0 Only thing missing are the Planet Destroyers, the Akon Kaguya and the mighty Flagship Traverser from Gall Force Series: http://www.xs4all.nl/~tsunami/gallforce/data/traversr.html http://www.xs4all.nl/~tsunami/gallforce/data/pbc.html http://www.xs4all.nl/~tsunami/gallforce/data/akon.html Oh yeah and SDF-1 from Macross http://www.merzo.net/images/2mppSDF1D.gif http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLCAD For those without the bricks? (or to test before building it for real!!!) Then go here for lego battletech mechs http://www.brickcommander.com/ Awesome! I love those cool LEGO Mechs! This guy even made a Zendraedi Battle Mech from Macross/Robotech and even one from Mech Warriors 2! Oh and check out Starship Yamato from Star Blazers! If that’s not cool then what is?! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=58795 Come on! No one has made SDF-1 yet?!
  7. This colossal 'ball of fire' is by far the largest object of this kind ever identified! http://www.esa.int/esaCP/SEMWD1AATME_index_0.html http://discovermagazine.com/2006/sep/xraymap http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/06/12/great_balls_of_fire/ http://elainemeinelsupkis.typepad.com/spac...e_meinel_s.html What's not cleared out, is whether this fireball is bigger than our Galaxy or any other Galaxy for that matter?
  8. I’m thinking about buying this TFT/LCD EIZO S1911SH: http://www.eizo.com/products/lcd/s1911_01/spec.asp Brightness / Contrast 300 cd/m2 / 700:1 On/Off Response Time: 6 ms (typical) Midtone Response Time: 2 ms (typical) It will be used for for watching Anime, Macross series/movies (DVD/DivX/Xvid) and 2D/3D games (emulators, Doom3) The specs & quality look good, but I’m rather skeptical about the low contrast: 700:1. It seems a bit low, as I’ve seen other monitors with higher contrast, 1000:1 – 2000:1. (LG) Will Doom3 look too dark on this monitor? Or should I go for this EIZO S1931 instead: http://www.eizo.com/products/lcd/s1931_21/spec.asp It has a higher contrast 1000:1, but lower brightness 280 cd/m2 and worse response times: On/Off Response Time: 16 ms, Midtone Response Time: 8 ms Any opinions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  9. Are you implying this thread by any chance: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...1&hl=star+ships
  10. Speaking of large star ships (Macross/Robotech Type) dimensions... http://www.merzo.net/ This site is intended to allow science fiction fans to get an impression of the true scale of their favourite science fiction spacecraft by being able to compare ships across genres, as well as being able to compare them with contemporary objects with which they are probably familiar. Apparently, it turns out that the Macross SDF-1 Fortress isn’t as massive as it looks in the series, especially compared to some of the other Starwars ships or Zendraedi flagships. Even the Trade Federation carrier droid battleship is larger! I wonder how they managed to fit a city of 60000 people inside the SDF-1 it?! Surprisingly, the Bodolza/ Zentraedi Mobile Command Base, is much larger than the Star Wars Death Star II! But what I find shocking is Unicron’s size! In the grid he looks larger than Bodolza’s Command Base, the Death Stars & the ID4 mother-ship put together! Also, I never new that the ID4 Mothership was Mushroom shaped! By far, it's the best site of its kind! It would have been perfect if it had the Starwars Trade federation (Invisible Hand), Techno Union & Banking Class star ships. These images are not the right scale by the way, they should be viewed in the gridded home site. And here are some impressive Star Trek Ships schematics: http://www.shipschematics.net/startrek/new_02_22_2002.html Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts (“Super Star Destroyersâ€) http://www.theforce.net/swtc/ssd.html
  11. I got the fan-sub “Macross Do You Remember Love†from emule. The total running time of this specific fan-sub version, is 1:50:13 and at the beginning it says: #SM-ANIME@DALNET Presents: A STINKY_GLOOM@YAHOO.COM ENCODE The film starts off with the two Zendraedi leaders inspecting objects of Micron size, recovered from the wreckage from previous battles against the SDF-1 UN forces. The space fortress Macross is on its way back to Earth. Soon after follows the battle against the SDF-1 in Titan’s orbit and during the skirmish with the Zentraedi forces, Hikaru rescues Minmay and they get stranded somewhere within the ship. Later Minmay gets captured; Roy Focker dies and Hikaru & Misa end up back on Earth - only to view the aftermath of the destruction of their civilization. The film ends with the SDF-1 defeating the Bodolza/ Zentraedi Mobile Command Base and Minmay singing her final song. What I want to know is whether this is the 2nd part of the movie, as I’ve watched the FMV cutscenes of the Macorss DYRL Shoot Em Up game on the SONY PSX and it clearly shows some of the battles that take place on the earth, right before the SDF-1 completes the fold-space jump to Pluto’s orbit. The most characteristic scene is when a U.N aircraft carrier gets cut in half by a huge laser beam, fired by a Zendraedi ship. These scenes are not from the Robotech Macross Saga by Harmony Gold, so it must be another film. Does the Macross DYRL “Perfect Edition†DVD by FX, feature both parts of the film? Here it says that the Running time is: 115 minutes. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encycloped...nime.php?id=366 Which only makes it more confusing. Any info to clear this matter will be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

  13. Concerning Macross Zero, Apparently there are at least 4 different Bootleg versions out there: 1. MACROSS ZERO - Perfect Collection Episodes (1-5) (2-DISC EDITION) http://i10.ebayimg.com/02/i/05/10/09/6d_1_sbl.JPG 2. Macross Zero Completed Episodes (1-5) (1-Disc Edition) http://i22.ebayimg.com/01/i/07/1d/b2/34_1_b.JPG 2. Macross Zero Completed Episodes (1-5) (1-Disc Edition) - Different cover http://i24.ebayimg.com/01/i/03/68/d4/39_1_b.JPG 4. Macross Zero (5-Disc Edition) http://www.shopanimedvd.com/images/MacrossZeroVol1_AC.jpg http://www.shopanimedvd.com/images/MacrossZeroVol2_AC.jpg http://www.shopanimedvd.com/images/AC3021-04.jpg Now I’m very confused! Which one should I get? As for Macross DYRL "Perfect Edition", I was told at Macross World forums that there are two versions, the "Perfect Edition by FX" which is supposed to have excellent video/audio quality & perfectly translated English subtitles and the standard Edition not marked by "FX", which is supposed to be of poorer video/audio quality and subs titles. I download the fan-sub version of Macross DYRL & Zero from torrent and they have excellent Video/Audio & sub quality, but the sub fonts are rather small and not viewable when projected on my 21†TV via TV-Out. I was after the Perfect Edition by FX, but now I really don’t know which one I should get? I was also looking for RahXephon CD soundtrack 1 & 2. Are these two Japanese import CDs or domestic US made CDs? The reason I ask is because here, they’re labelled as US CDs: http://www.animecastle.com/pc-87457-18766-...ndtrack-01.aspx http://www.animecastle.com/pc-87465-18766-...ndtrack-02.aspx Where as here, they're mentioned as import Japanese: http://www.shopanimedvd.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=3433 The price is also quite low ($8.50) So, how reliable is this place? http://www.shopanimedvd.com/ I ordered Macross II soundtrack from here for 15$, as well as Ninja Scroll OST CD for 15$ http://store.imageanime.com/maciiorsount.html http://store.imageanime.com/ninjascroll1.html But I really don't know if they're bootlegs or not? Really, how could you distinguish if a soundtrack CD is bootleg, I only know of some basic rules / tips of spotting a bootleg DVD, but I was not aware of bootleg CDs! Macross II CD, Ninja Scroll CD & RahXephon CD 1-2 are all sold under 30$ at http://www.rightstuf.com for 15$ so they could also pass for bootlegs based on the “low price†criteria. This entire bootleg thing is getting rather tiresome! Thanks in advance.
