Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening

To me, the most disturbing part of Saturn 3 is the "hold on, you've got something in your eye" scene.- 854 replies

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Kelsain replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
"... He learned almost too late that man is a feeling creature..." I friggin love that movie, both on its own & on mst3k. Of all the bad films I've enjoyed, Armageddon: the Final Challenge is the worst I've seen. I rented it @ Blockbuster b/c of the poorly photoshopped Y-wing & A-wing on the cover. My pal literally hid behind the sofa during the film. If I mention it to my brother, he still gets angry 15 years later. I love my wife so much that I have spared her that entire time. If you can find it, drink & "enjoy!"- 854 replies

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Kelsain replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I had that exact same conversation about 5 days ago. While Asylum can be fun (i.e. Debbie Gibson v. Tiffany), it just doesn't have the heart that makes a bad movie fun to watch. You know that the makers of The Final Sacrifice, Wild Wild Planet, and Armageddon: The Final Challenge (among others) thought they were making something epic.- 854 replies

Gundam Build Fighters/Build Fighters Try
Kelsain replied to VF-15 Banshee's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just guessing here, but the Amuro character and the Char character will settle their differences and unite at the end of the first season. Then, their Gundam and Red (Gundam or Zaku equivalent) will work together to achieve goals that they couldn't have on their own. Next year, the sequel series will be released, titled: (wait for it) Gundam BFF- 971 replies

Fair enough, at this point I'm just happy I wasn't missing the cockpit lock. Maybe he qc problems are intentional? After all, the 171 is a cannon fodder bird, and isn't supposed to be as we'll engineered as the hero valks... (null)

Finally had the chance to bust mine out & take it through qc. No pieces missing, no broken flaps or canopy. Had a hard time getting the hips back into fighter config, though. I love this bird!

I had planned on using super packs, then changed my mind, so the legs were already together. I built new thighs, put the lower legs on, then "bent the knee" until the glue on the attachment piece came loose and straightened the leg. After that I just dripped in some CA into the sides of the knee to lock it in place. Someday I'll put my bench back together and get back to work. Oh well, baby's room first...

I'm confused by the zentradi in those stickers... What is the regult doing? Is Millia taking a crap? Totally looks like the N-Ger has a boner. When the smaller pillows come out, I might have to get a Max for my daughter. * now that I see it on a bigger screen, I can see that Millia is squee-ing about Max...

Are there 3 ghosts or just one? I didn't order an RVF, but the super pack *might* be worth it for 3 ghosts...

Transformers: Age of Extinction - in theaters June 27, 2014
Kelsain replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's presuming that any semblance of Hound or Bulkhead's character makes it into the movie. More likely it'll be: I'm big and green! Pew pew! I'm driving last in the convoy. Slow motion jump & roll! + 1 line of dialog that ignores 30 years of character development.- 950 replies

I know, the movie is just a big flashy commercial selling toys: Plastic Hasbro ones to kids and big metal GM ones to adults. That being said, Bumblebee's new alt is pretty cool. Feel like the colors should be reversed though.- 950 replies

Star Trek Into Darkness, in theaters May 17, 2013
Kelsain replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Really, I liked the first half of ST3, but after that, it just got boring. My wife had always been more of a TNG fan and never really saw TOS or the movies (except 4). After years of nudging, her enjoyment of 09 Trek was enough to convince her to watch TWOK. Of course, she loved it - as all reasonable people do. She wanted to see more, so I gave her a quick summary of ST3. She thought it sounded awesome, b/c I forgot about the boring parts. She stopped watching halfway through. Perhaps I oversold the notion of Christopher Lloyd... I love the Excelsior, but ST3 didn't show it well. With the low budget, Excelsior was packed with cheap sets. Plus, it looked small & stubby. I wasn't until it showed up in TNG that I realized it was a long, sleek ship & big too. Jenius: I was thinking something similar last night about Kirk. THe Kirk on NuTrek has experience loss that the original never did. He never knew his father & had a crappy stepdad. It's not a far leap to think he might've been abused. Pike was the closest thing he had to a real father figure & losing him took its toll on Kirk. It was his motivation for the first half of the film.- 1020 replies

Star Trek Into Darkness, in theaters May 17, 2013
Kelsain replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
My opinion varies on Kirk's death. On the one hand, I'm glad they didn't take the same route with the mirroring of TWOK. Then we'd have another resurrection movie next to bring Kirk back, blah blah - we're already retreading old ground. On the other hand, TWOK was all about Kirk's lifelong obsession with cheating death and escaping the consequences of his actions. In STID, Adm. Pike actually berates him for this very attitude @ the beginning of the film. Yet, at the end, he literally cheats death by way of Khan's blood. Now, they did a good job of addressing the emotional transition from the 09 Trek to this installment. Perhaps this experience will alter Kirk's attitudes in further movies, make him more humble, as it did in the originals. Or it might just make him worse... I guess we'll see. While on the whole, I didn't mind the reworked TWOK ending, this is the sticking point for me. Quinto's "Khhaaan!" paled in comparison to Shatner's. Maybe it was just the lack of the echoing through space. Maybe it just felt too forced. Not enough palpable rage, though. OK, the other thing I'm having trouble with is that big "gallery" portion of the ship with the balconies & walkways. Where the hell was that? The center of the saucer? The neck?- 1020 replies
