Hey, I loved The Cat from Outer Space! When I was 6... Imagine what they could do with modern CG! It would make Cats vs. Dogs look like, well, The Cat from Outer Space!
-
I thought they pretty good overall. My wife loves them and couldn't wait for the first movie. I'm sure we'll be there for the second.

Maybe they were planning on putting battleship turrets and missile launchers on it, just hand't gotten that far yet? I wonder if we'll get a glimpse of the political decision process if we get a sequel. Perhaps this could be a subplot.

Stoopid scene (among many, well the whole movie) of '98: The helicopters losing track of godzilla. Just fly up a little bit, or better yet: track the damn thing by satellite! Same goes for Pacific Rim. At least they mentioned helicopter spotters, but they weren't much good.

I've always preferred the Fulbxaxzzza Berirntnzztzz from the TV series. Sure it just looks like a rock in space, but it seems both more menacing and functional. Just checked the M3 - I wasn't that far off on the spelling!

If the kaiju fetus had been truly ready to fight, I could see it as a booby trap or something. From the drift scene, we see that the kaiju are manufactured, then stored on big "conveyor belts" while the aliens romp about. At least that's what I thought I saw. It just seems like there was no reason or opportunity for it to become pregnant - except for a quick joke sequence. Maybe it's that my son is due to be born within a week, but umbilical strangulation just isn't funny to me. That may have just soured a scene that others found hilarious.

Shouldn't Raleigh have known about the sword? Since there's no secrets in the drift & all. And dang, that kaiju flies fast! In rare agreement with Agent One, I also thought the pregnant kaiju was BS, only there as a pointless gag. I had to laugh when they bisected the kaiju in the last scene. I leaned over to my friend & said "that's so Voltron!" Totally getting this on DVD, might pick up the soundtrack by the weekend.

It would've been fun if the battle commands were voice activated, so they would've had to shout the attacks. That definitely would amp up the cheese factor, but we'd be more likely to have the "gar" moment. And I wanted to see more Cherno Alpha.

Yeah, and it also should've been a finishing move.

Yay, what fun! I can't figure out spoiler tags on my iPhone, so I won't address anything specific. The actors were good enough for me. I liked that Mako was not over-sexualized, which is surprising in a film like this. I agree with some of the above plot hole issues, but they were less obtrusive than I've come to expect from modern summer movies, so, win? Loved the production design all over, great job on the con pods, WM Cheng! We've all seen the trailers, so I think it's ok to mention the scene with the little girl. My daighter's just a little younger, and goddamn if my heart didn't just shatter. Above all the effects, GDT brought heart to the giant robot film. Was it cheesy & a little ham-fisted? Sure. Did it work? Yup. I'd consider this a B+ film.

Hmmm, seriously, a Sharon Apple figure would be a good crossover in their product lines... Old Repops: VF-1A Max TV, DYRL CF & VF-19F New Stuff: Ghost X-9,TV SDF-1, bad guys Oh, and winning the lotto so I can pay for them.

While browsing in anticipation, I just discovered that Wayne Barlowe was part of the kaiju design team. I freaking love his work, and am continually disappointed that Expedition is out of print. Even more excited for tomorrow night.

All in all, battroid doesn't look TOO bad. In all the pics ive seen, it just seems like the chest should slide down just a little more. -
To be fair as well: Tonto has rarely been portrayed as anything but an offensive caricature, so I guess they're true to form on that. While it would've been nice, nobody REALLY expected a big-budget summer blockbuster to take the opportunity to break its mold and present a more serious & fair representation of a native american protagonist, did they? That being said, I have no interest in seeing this film. Pirates 1 was a lot of fun; but since then, I've had no use for Verbinski.

So, who's gonna do theirs in the Five Star Stories livery?
-
And maybe not in bright, pristine white...
-
Fair enough, I don't like the fans either. Why can't they just leave them black, but set in a little so that they look more like an intake? The gray covers on the 11, 1 & 25 look fine. It's the bright yellow & white ones that look awful.
-
I agree that the top edge looks a little too blocky, but it would be easy for them to add a little slope to that & Have it blend better. The white/yellow intake covers on the blue 19's just look wrong in fighter mode.
-
Psst, hey Arcadia: how about a vf-19 v2 w/ removeable intake covers?
-
I also see a 2-piece canopy, better Gerwalk stance & fast packs.
-
Sigh... and Parasaurolophus used it's crest as a snorkel. There's been a hundred years of science since then. Let it go, people! BOT: Yay, robots! Can't wait to watch this movie!
