  1. I sold bunches a while later Now I just have one of each... well, maybe a few of the blue one but those were already sold out when RT.com marked them down to $39.99.
  2. They were on sale at Robotech.com for a long while for $39.99... I bought bunches then and that's how I managed to get a few that are nice. Now that the Beta is out I doubt you'll see another price drop.
  3. I too prefer my mechs to look a bit beefy... and to lack faces and boobs. Beyond all that, meh. If you want more derivative attempts for your future mecha look at the (relatively) new mecha look of the MacII mech designs. Those were essentially just 90s-ified VF-1s and they turned out alright. Personally, I'm glad the canon stories involved fresher mechs (although there's certainly plenty of inbreeding from a design standpoint). I think a lot of what makes the VF-0 seem too modern for its era also comes from what the animators could do and think of now that we've got a bit of 1980s future behind us.
  4. I hear my two new DX toys and Alto's super parts are on their way! I can't wait to play with 'em and picture 'em up. Of the DX toys, which should I do first? 1) Michel, 2) Luca, 3) Alto Super Parts?
  5. Go to the upper right where it says options then click display mode.
  6. I don't know Ravenhawk, i don't speak Japanese but it looks like the ad shows it handles the gun better, connects better to the tread (notice the big red box showing a tighter connection), and has larger intakes and new gun accessories. The bomb clusters would be a big bonus as they're the only thing really stopping a full representation of the art they emulated. Also, they should have changed the cradle so the big metal hubs didn't prevent the Tread's legs from being positioned correctly. Adrian, between the girlfriend and work I'm more of a lurker these days in many ways but I'm very happy to have both. Now tell Takashi to start shipping those new DX toys so I have a reason to ignore the gf and work for a day or two .
  7. Didn't member Silverdragon make these?
  8. I don't see a reason to think we'll see "resculpts" for a movie. Repaints? Quite possibly. DYRL VF-1 toys aren't resculpted... just another way to make money on existing sculpts.
  9. You bought a version 1.0 1/60 VF-1J... it's heavy and has metal in it. Not the same as the new 1/60 you're seeing around here (commonly called the v2). You should visit the site in my sig and surf around for a bit.
  10. Speaking of the bomb clusters, I do hope CMs includes clip-on bomb clusters for their Tread's wings so we can go the whole distance and recreate that picture. Also, I'm hoping they include the radar dish and hip guns of that other infamous Tread art.
  11. I would add that the hip joints (that hold the ball) are often broken on 1/48s although many people don't even realize it so it's not a big deal. If that piece of plastic breaks the legs just tend to move a hole lot easier than they ought to but usually they'll still hold poses just fine.
  12. My take on the MH and CMs is this: I don't find either one very fun. The CMs is a superior display piece (plus the line is hugely extensive at this point) but the MH is more forgiving and more of a toy (although I think both kinda suck as a toy since neither one stands very well). The MH looks uglier to me every time I look at it while the CMs is a constant act of very tiny tweaks to get it just how I want it. The CMs looks like they got the Dark paint scheme down better (more blacks, less flat grays).
  13. I didn't mention them but I provided lots of pics. Honestly, I'm so let down with the MH Ride Armors now I was just kind of going through the paces.
  14. The only thing that looks really Q-rau like about that vehicle though is the girly lower half. The transformation appears to be very similar to the VF-1. While it may be written that this is an attempt at a transforming Q-rau the designers did a terrible job of incorporating that thought into the drawing. Obviously a discussion of which is more aesthetically appealing would be a matter of pure subjectivity but I have to say SK did a much better job of realizing the melding of Zent/Human tech in his YF-21.
  15. Nothing really exciting to report but I got a new post up on my site: Anyone considering purchasing this toy should definitely check it out.
  16. Um, that thing has child-bearing hips and women's legs... quasi-breasts (although no YF-19 uniboob) and no wings... what exactly is there to like about that design?
  17. A new gun and slightly larger intakes? Pass. That connection SUCKS in comparison with the Toynami... and the Toynami connection ain't perfect either.
  18. Yes, it's a Hyper hobby mag limited edition, see the hikaru 1/60 V2 thread for more details
  19. this was reported in the Hikaru 1/60 V2 thread.
  20. Wow... this just got more interesting. I won't be cancelling any preorders but I'm really not all that excited about getting the Michel and Luca any more (but I am still excited about the GBP + Ozma set).
  21. Wow, we've had this much DX talk and there's even an article stating the DX is the way it is to allow it to be more durable and to function well as a toy and people are still insisting the model should be used for comparisons. The people who make these things disagree... trust them. If you don't trust them SK disagrees, trust him. If you can't bring yourself to trust either then it's your own inner demons you're dealing with. There was no conspiracy to make the DX less like the anime just to giggle at the people who would buy it. I think Luca is due out this Sunday (?). I'm hoping both my Michel and Luca will ship then. I'm looking forward to them but have some definite concerns about the armor.
  22. VenomMacbeth, you should check out the link in my sig and surf around, you should be able to find out lots about the available Macross toys although some vintage stuff isn't there. Also, if something looks like Macross it was probably made by Takatoku first and then bootlegged afterward.
  23. So Michael's 1/100 is going to have the speakers and sniper rifle eh? That's a lot more interesting than Ozma's.
  24. So does that make Kawamori an inexperienced third party Chinese designer?
