  1. The 1/48 does have a good fightermode, with the long nosecone and features such as flaps and airbrakes. But the arms and gunpod does sit alittle too low and some of the missiles are too loose when attached atleast on mine. The 1/60 has a shorter nosecone and no other features then the opening canopy and landing gear but the arms and gunpod sit higher up and the tri-cluster missiles are painted as opposed to just plain white and they attach better. The 1/48 Battroid mode has better looking shoulders and the head is attached in a better position but the chest and nosecone are too long. And the chicken hands are fugly. Though it does have a strap for the gunpod which is accurate. The 1/60 has a much better looking chest and hands but the shoulders are much smaller and look alittle strange and it doesn't come with the gunpod strap either. No one is perfect, both have positives and negatives. If you own other 1/60 Yamato VF's i say go for the new 1/60's. They are also redesigned to support 2-seat version like the VF-1D and VT-1, something the 1/48 never was.
  2. The VF-2SS is a buy but the Metal Siren for me atleast is an ugly piece of spiky mess that looks like it fits better in a gundam show then in macross. Its just a horrible design IMO.
  3. Looks way to fat with the armor on in my opinion. Thats the problem with making it too chunky in the first place.
  4. The 21 is so badass that your eyeballs explode when you push it to the max. And its the only VF that can still fly without its limbs.
  5. Either get the VF-11 or the Yf-21, both are epic win in my book.
  6. No need to do anything to his poor butt, just tuck in his arms and wiggle him down enough and the canopy should go down fine...atleast on mine it does. The problem on mine was that his arms go over the side and prevent him from sitting as low as he could, you need to press them together while pressing him down at the same time.
  7. Yeah its more then the standard VF-1's but less then a VT-1 and VE-1. The VF-1 and YF/VF-19 has the most variants i think.
  8. They are talking about the bellyplates, which technically are part of the legs. Because those are the only differences, head, canopy and bellyplates.
  9. If they do go back to Hikaru and company they should ONLY be supporting characters and no more love triangle or something like that. Their story is finished but to have a show set onboard the Megaroad 01 featuring a new set of characters with Hikaru and company in the background would be okay in my opinion. Hikaru, Misa and Minmey were completely developed as characters when the show ended and it finished well with no loose ends. Max and Miriya didn't get that much attention as a couple but it got further explored in Macross 7. Even Roy Focker got more attention in Macross Zero so all the main characters got what they deserved. I feel that exploring them any further then that may end up hurting them in the end.
  10. Full series should always move forward, but OVA's could be set in between other shows or as sidestories.
  11. Agree completely, i was just judging the box alone.
  12. Im a big fan of Yamato and i love the toys. But the Yamato boxes are one of the ugliest toyboxes out there in my opinion. It just looks like a really bad photoshop job. Since you can open the cover and look at the toy anyway i'd rather want to have some high quality lineart or similar on a tasty background.
  13. OMG that looks awesome, you should contact Yamato and get them to make that for their 1/60 VF-1 line. Though for some reason i read it as VF-1S EMO custom
  14. I can think of one way to actually make the legs thinner and sleeker in fightermode while also making them bigger and bulkier in battroid. However the plastic would probably end up alittle thinner and more on the fragile side because the mid section needs to be pushed into the leg so that the front and back halves can be pushed together. This would probably give less room for the landing gear but if it rotates like the 21 or 11 it doesn't really need a whole lot of room.
  15. There isn't that much clearance under the belly of the 21 with Fastpacks and gunpods on and if the legs were bigger the belly would drop even lower making it touch the ground or impossible to have the landing gear down with FP's and gunpods and thats too much of a compromise IMO. The primary complaints i heard about the 1/72 21 was that it didn't look sleek enough in F mode. Other then the thin legs the rest of the 21 have good proportions in battroid mode. This is my personal opinion so don't attack me for it but i feel that the compromises to fightermode for a good looking Battroidmode would be alot worse then the other way around. This is mostly because of the unique way the 21 is designed because the legs don't make up the engines. You can barely fit the legs inside the bay as it is, if they were bigger not only would the belly hang much lower but the entire body would be much wider in order to make it fit. Best thing Yamato could do is include two sets of legs. The thin legs we got that can transform and make a sleek fighter and a set og bigger, bulkier legs that you can't transform with but it would make the Battroid mode look bigger. And besides there is the GNU YF-21 and Revoltech action figures if you want a plain battroid.
  16. I think that Yamato wants to come out with mostly new VF-1 designs and types before the true and tested ones just to do something new and fresh. I mean, TV Max and Kakizaki, TV CF and so on. These new 1/60's were engineered to support two-seaters so why not show off them first with the new features and then go back to the standard ones. I've been waiting for ever for a VT and VE and all the VF's that weren't made for the 1/48 line.
  17. Exactly, there will always be M&M VF-1J's but only so many VT-1 and VE-1's.
  18. Armor for the new 1/60 VF-1's isn't an if but a when. I really hope they come out with a VF-11C and it should come with both standard and atmospheric fastpacks. ...and Protect Armor And a VF-11D Jamming Bird And yes VF-17's with fastpacks (Cause they look so badass with them on in battroid mode) And if they do 17's they damn well better figure out a way to store the gunpod inside the leg along with the beam adapter.
  19. Yamato's TV Fastpacks aren't 100% accurate in my opinion as the color of them should be more grey. But they are the only way to go if you want to recreate that scene from the series. The DYRL packs have different arm designs and are more blue and dark.
  20. Awesome, you can have it completely without the Radome attachments as a regular two-seater too. High price makes sense since its a one of a kind unique mold that most likely can't be used for anything else. Thank god its september, I just purchased a Max VF-1S, pre-ordered a VF-22S and are saving up for the VT-1.....and it would be nice to have some spare change left for a vacation too.
  21. The size and detail of the 1/48's are impressive. And they are going for very attractive prices now basically the same as a 1/60, so you get more VF for your money. Though personally i have now sold off my 1/48's and are only going for 1/60's mainly because they will be in the same scale as the rest Yamato is doing. It looks kinda off with a 1/48 VF-1 next to a 1/60 Destroid.
  22. They could do a show set onboard the Megaroad-01 featuring new main characters with Hikaru and company as supporting characters, abit like how M&M was in Macross 7 (Though i think they had a bigger part then that), but something similar anyway. Though i feel their story is finished, they have been developed as far as they can get as characters and there really isn't much more to do with them. Doing more might ruin it. That being said i still would like to see a show set onboard a Megaroad ship with VF-4's. There is a rather large gap between Flashback 2012 and Macross Plus set in 2040 that i would want explored abit more. And i still want to get a wrap on the protoculture story though. It was featured in Macross 7 very well but still not concluded. I'd love to have someone actually meet a survivor or something.
  23. When i buy a new VF toy, i tend to watch a few eps where that VF was featured while i wait for it to arrive. Other then that i guess i watch SDFM once a year or perhaps every other year. M Plus i watch often and the same for Zero. Probably becuase they are OVA's and easier to get into with less investment in time then a full series.
  24. And if they do a new YF-19, they should include a Heavy weapons Cluster.
