Why doesn't some body just create one of those quizes on this subject?

Here's what I got:

I was watching this movie last night called Shubun 1950 (english title Scandal) by Kurosawa Akira and I notice a few familar themes in it that reminded me of Macross. Mifune Toshiro plays an artist named Aoye Ichiro. The film starts with him up in the mountains painting one. There are three old men watching him and commenting on his painting. One of the asks something like, "Why are you painting like that?" To which Aoye answers, "I paint how I feel". Another old man tells him, "Your using to much red. That mountain is not red." Aoye says back, "To me the mountain is red." In the same scene Aoye says the mountains are moving. This character artistic spirt reminded me of Basara. Plus he's painting infront of mountains talking them moving. Basara sang infront of mountain trying to make it move. Basara's feeling drove his singing and actions. It doesn't end there. You start hearing singing. Another character enters named Saijo Miyako and she's singing. Yes Aoye is painting a mountain, talking about it moving and some one shows up singing. Anyways the character of Saijo is popular singer in the movie. Aoye offers her a ride and a tabloids end up taking a picture of them and create a story suggesting that they are having an fair. It's just like DYRL? with the reporters taking pictures of Hikaru and Minmay then having it covered in the tabloid news. That's pretty much where the connections end but I thought there was enough to share.

I want to hear intelligent reasons as to why it is bad or why it's good. RULES - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING 1. You must give a well thought out reason why. Short answers like because it's got cool Valks, gay, lame, Mylene's hot, sucks or cause Basara is in it doesn't count. 2. Don't agrue over someone else's reason. This for you to post your own rational thoughts. 3. You're allowed one chance to post and that's to say whether you love or hate it and why. 4. Violations of the above can result in a Macross World Free Weekend for the Offender.

Just look at some old Macross books. Of course those pics are 20 some years old.

Find me two more people to agree and I'll reopen it.

Some people were having hard time following the rules.

Summary: Note this summary of opinions is not accurate and all that stuff. Basara Love him or hate him. There seems to be more reasons to hate him. A big one is that he's annoying and in your face. Yet his attitude of not giving up stuck a cord (excuse the pun) in many of his fans. In a way the viewer and Gamlin are the same person. Gamlin's first impressions of Basara are not good. The same can be said for the viewers. I believe making Basara not likable at first was done on purpose with the intent that his strengths in his beliefs would grow on the viewer as it does with Gamlin and the rest of city 7. This happens for some viewers but for others it doesn't. Prehaps they did too good of a job making first impresssion a bad one that it too hard to repair the damage afterwards. It deviates too far from Expections One's preconceived expections can effect one's opinion concerning Macross 7. Look at the mecha. The Valkyries used by the U.N.SPACY in Macross 7 bare a close enough resemblance to earlier designs that they are generally accepted. On the other hand the Sound Force's Valkyries are too far off earlier designs that even those who show signs of liking Macross 7 have problems accepting them. Look at the enemy. The Zentradi are giants. The Protodevlin are monsters. Even though you can consider a giant a monster the Zentradi are still more human/alien than monsters. The appearance of the Protodevlin clearly resembles monsters (+ fairies and elfs). Once again enemies are too far off from earlier ones to be accepted. Look at Singing and Spirita which bares a resembalance to magic. Whether ones hates singing in the series or not that should not be an issue. Singing has always been a part of Macross. The heroes and villians using "Magic"-like powers has not. Whether one had little to none or lot experience with Macross before viewing Macross 7 preconceived expections were already in placed. If you saw culture, love, the human spirit and civilians bringing about peace instead of military might as important theme in other Macross media than you have may see the same theme in Macross 7. It meet expectations yet there are a lot of things such those discussed above that violates expectations. Side Notes: Some other common things people didn't like include: Recycled animation used in battles, cookie cutter episodes that did not add much to the story, characters of sound force. Some other common things that people did like includes: Evolution of themes from Macross, character developement. Special Side Note: Posters were asked to post their reasons for loving or hating it in a rational manner. Some of those expressed a clear dislike (but not all) had problems of being strictly rational. They did express their reasons for not like it but they couldn't resist adding in the irrational comments as well. I stated that violations of rules could result in a Macross World Free Weekend for the Offender. Yet people couldn't resist. Does this mean those who express a clear dislike are in general not rational?

I'm a bit at a lost of how things got off track or why people seem to just barely follow the rules. I'd start kicking ass but I have a cold. Today is the last day to get your rational opinion "on Macross 7" in.

There were a couple of unaired episodes. I'm sure it just it didn't get aired cause of time constraints and that it was a detour episode.

I haven't been in my home town area since 2001. Might visit again for this.

Well I gotta admitt I was bored to tears until I used a don't die cheat. Then I just ran through the game.

But you personally care for the mulitple endings? I had a hard time getting into and following the story. When I'm playing a game I'm too busy shooting the crap out everything in sight to listen to what others are screaming in the back ground.

I plan on waiting on Invasion till it hits the budget racks since I am cheap and such. I suggest you rent it first. Am I the only one that enjoys a high quality cutscene?

If you believe I'm going to be unbiased thank you. Now stop living in dream world. The Review: Okay I don't think that much of Robotech. I'm sure some of you know that already but what you don't know is that back in 1986 my friends in the 5th grade and I road our bikes around pretending they were cyclones. How lame was that! Back in the 80's that was my favorite saga of Robotech. Even though I consider myself a pure Macross fan I still have a little soft spot in my cold blacken heart for cyclones blasting Invids. I first saw this game a couple of months ago but I had other games that I want to play first. When I saw this game I laughed. Flash forward to Xmas. I have the holiday off and I decided to rent a game. You didn't think I would buy this game now did you? Since I played all the other games I wanted I decided to finally rent this one. Battle Cry sucked but that was a first attempt. This one would have to be better. Note the games I played before renting this one were Samurai Warriors Extreme Legends, MSG Snake Eater and Ace Combat 5. Yes those games were better but that doesn't mean Invasion was bad. Using a cyclone to blast invid it's a great idea and fun at time yet the game seemed like a half effort. You know when a new system comes out the first games for it are sorta so so and as years go by the games get better and better that make the earlier games weak in comparsion? Invasion is like one of those earlier games. If I played it a few years ago I would have like it more. Now the problems. First you can't drive a cyclone in motorcyle indoors. Go take ahead the fun away. Second you can't kill allies, sometimes I just want to shoot friends. The music is something else. Artero(?) pilots a girl's cyclone does that mean he goes both ways? I can't drive a cyclone through a tent. Every one seem to have the same face to me. How come Locke has to fights the latin woman? I think an orgy with them would have been better. Who agree with me? Sad no one got any "action." The voices. Can we talk about the voices? Yep a lot of Robotech VO are in the game. Fine with me. It's a nice odd but that Sam character. That voice was just errrgghhhhhh. My biggest complaint has to be the way the story was presented. Where's the CGI mini animated intro movies and cut scenes that we've come to expect from current games? This one had some but animation quality was the same as the game play. Don't these tend to be of better quality? Then there's those flash blacks (with great dialog btw ) those would have been perfect spots to throw in a movie but I'd you get blury vision and hear some bad screaming. A lot of the story was told through others screaming dialog during battle. If it wasn't for my earlier knowledge of Robotech I wouldn't understand what the hell was going on. I swear half the time I time didn't and still don't. Overall: This game was better than Battle Cry but was just an okay experience. Had the story been presented better I would have thought much better about this game.

I haven't been around much the last several days. Actually believe it or not I slipped in the rain and landed the back of my head on a side walk over a week ago. No kidding. I'm still alive. I didn't think I caused any brain damage with that fall but reading this thread and links connected with it makes me think that I'm suffering some kind of brain damaged induced nightmare. From what I remember Bank of Kev seemed to have a blind devotion too HG and Robotech. He either wanted to be the biggest suck up in the world or just enjoyed getting others at Macross World up in arms against him. Maybe it was little from colum A and a little from colum B. Now he's working for them? One of there biggest defenders now works for them! That's a laugh. I'm ashamed of you at this site. Why haven't you guys got a job with BW? I mean some of you could be accused of defending BW in the same degree that was seen from Bok. We had banned BoK because his name was on a list of the most disruptive members . That list included supporters from both sides of the usual conflicts as well other disruptive members. It should come to no surprize why he was on that list. To his credit I did appreciate actions that he took to clear up a comment that he made and included my appreciation in his ban notice. When we moved to these new forums. We did a little review on the members that we banned on the earlier boards. Here is a brief copy of my review of Bank. bankofkev: "I can't play nice with skullone, I only come here to debate Robotech. I like to say stupid things to make sane people mad at me" Note that quote didn't come him but was me doing a bad imitiation. I did one for just about everyone in my review but that was summary meant for humor wasn't too far off from the truth. I don't know if he honestly believes half the stuff he was spitting out. A lot of it posted here, there and elsewhere seemed to be designed just to get under the nerves of some people. As far as I know we never re-banned him here. He hasn't posted much here or has gotten into any more conflicts with members of this board on this very board (elsewhere excluded). Why has he done so? I don't know maybe it's not entertaining as it use to be. Seems he'd rather do it on that blog. Fine with me that's a good idea. People in this thread should do the same. Ask BOK to create a feed back section on his blog or what ever and you all can join him. Honestly do we really need to keep talking about him here? A kidding aside good for him. I'm sure it's a dream for him I wish him the best. Now for one criticism before I close this topic. Bok I think you now have your dream job. You're no longer a fanboy. Put all those crazy Macross Worlders behind you. Is there really a need for that blog? The war for you is over. Don't keep trying to rustle any feathers. Does the rest the employees of HG maintain a blog that pays attention to people that hate them? I haven't visited Robotech.com forums in a long time but do your new peers do the same? I doubt it. Not all those on Macross World are like Volcanos. I haven't read everyword of your blog but is there need to make generelations about Macross World as a whole now is there? Not every poster on Macross World is an insane supporter of BW that wants HG to die. Some posters on Macross World, Robotech.com are or may one day become a customer of your new employer. Do you want them to see your blog? It could very well turn potential customers of your employer away. Isn't there some rule in business about not saying or doing things that will drive customers away? It's been a long while since I cracked a Robotech joke and that includes in private. I can't remember when I last bashed it. When you take a some what public position you start to watch what you say in public. Your's is now much bigger with influence. Time for you to get in the habit.
