A small update. The main hull is completed and all of the Official ship has been built. No renders of any type have been done because I'm still coming to grips with the new renderer and it's quirks. But I've not stopped working on the ship. Currently I'm working on the last bit of the Bow's trench detail. I just have to make an integration detail pass to make it look like the details aren't just stuck on. The small trench piece is what the detail should look like for the entire trench, and the small white arrow is showing where that piece of the trench is in the second image.

Ummm... that ideal was dead before you were born and was dying when the Beetles hit TV. The last 'good' album I heard was from the early 80's. As to the oddity of the advertising. Trent & CO. has already realized how poor the idea is or there wouldn't have been intentional leaks.

Ok after not actively ignoring M7, other stuff needed watching, I finally got around to watching the first disc's worth. Sweet animation work and nice OP(why is it that Macross has some of the best 3D still lol!), but damned are the characters out right annoying! However there are moments when the secondary character shine with mature writing. I swear that the drummer has more character then Basara, who really comes off as the typical male storyteller in a H-game. M&M fighting like any older couple would is somewhat refreshing because it not only adds some realism but also gives homage to the internal debates that Macross Saga had. I do have a question though.... Does it get any better or does it still stumble along?

Actually your probably correct because I got the info off of the old McCain's DRG And D.I.T.T.S site which is more of an RPG site due to the amount of extra material. Example: "The Nousjaedul-Rau mecha incorporates technologies from both the Nousjaedul Ger and the Queadluun-Rau Power Armors. The mecha was designed and built as a joint effort between Rogue Zentraedi Factions and the Anti-UN forces. This is the main combat mecha of the current day Zentraedi forces."

In the Macross Plus section you have Zentradi Battle Suit listed. I thought that was an Anti-UN suit?

LOL! You guys... Anyways I've been finalized the little things and came to the mecha launch port in front of the main turrets, and realized that it's not very clear(second image related). So should I go 4 bays as it's shown with it being asymmetrical, 6 bays being sysmetrical, or 4 bays sysmetrical? And I think I found a new render engine over the weekend! It was able to render the entire model(triangulated so it's around 3.8 million faces) in 2 minutes 23 seconds. Which is beyond superior to the 30 minute render time for only 2/3rd's of the model with the same settings. Now I just have to learn how to use it. lol!

@GA, I don't have a problem with them using the current political rheotic. I do have a problem when it's so stupidly blatantly preachy and agenda pushing though. At least they could've made it a point to actually disguise it better with great writing. I got the impression that Tony knew that it was going to be a "no-win" situation when SHIELD was involved, and since he had the most to lose, and since he's never been a follower anyways Tony went for the power. So I didn't view it as him being pro-'the people', but pro-'self'. I loathed how OOC the characters were which made it feel even more 'preachy' because it felt like it was coming from a single viewpoint all the time and the characters themselves were just minor 'emotions' that the viewpoint was using to drive it's agenda by. But, like Impreszive, I've been moving away from the super hero rags anyways.

Yeah Civil War finally unzipped it's costume to show that it was a turkey all along. It's worst fault was that, like the Ultimates, it was a barely disguised political commentary that is not only BADLY written, but out of date. I've got no problems with how it ended having the 'power mongers' getting the win though, however trite it was. Marvel really needs to fire Joe Q, and put someone in who knows how to do the job because he (and other writers) have turned Marvel into a political stage in which they can preach. The only hope for any believable realignment for the Marvel universe is the assignation(none of this fake stuff either) of the 'outed' team members family and friends. Which in turn cause some of the members to turn 'rogue'. Pepper Potts and several of Tony's friends need to be permanently off'ed and he needs to kill a few of the murders as they are arrested. Really re-enforce the point of not having your name known, because it clearly didn't mean a thing when May got shot.

Working on the Bow section not much basic detail here at all and during the original blocking out I ended up doing most of the work. LOL! But frankly I've been avoiding this section because it reminds me overly much of a penis... and well you know the jokes that go with that... I've still got abit of detail left to add, the area behind the dome piece gets some elevated surfaces, and some SERIOUS polygon reduction to do because of the use of subdivision concentrates alot of polys in this area(300k worth). After that the 95% of the 'offical' design is done! Leaving the dorsal amidships mecha launch hatchs and, the WORST part of the ship, the hangerbay door. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........

Welcome to the painful long suffering world of GI. Good for model WIP renders and open sky renders, but not so good for other scenes without a 3 light set-up. Also good photon bounce. The textures look pretty lifeless though nothing you really can do about it with GI. Not bad!

After killing off the mildly strong secondary characters and running rampage over existing material the only thing left is to actually give CK a backbone instead of staying the sex-driven emo-boy. But I find that unlikely because it's gotten badly corny with how badly wishie-washie the CK character has become. It was mildly interesting watching the DC characters show up though.

All pretty fair points, because not even in the books are GR or host 'deep' characters or have more then generic background secondary characters. The 300 will be along the same lines.

Looks solid for a PLE level project. Polygonal or NURBS? Are you planning to get the full version of MAYA or are your just testing out PLE?

Thanks! For those parts in the render it's 1.67 million out of a 3 million budget and the Bow isn't much more than 300k. That leaves plenty for the trench details and other issues. I maybe going over my budget because of the hanger thrusters though... @Mr. March, 50-100k hasn't been much for around a good 5 years and to make it even more silly most gaming scenes have around 500k-1 million faces. I just think that people don't want to put the effort into building a detailed CG model without nearly every single detail shown. I hope for the day that someone comes along and builds a far better ship that I have!!!

Ok after installing a gig of RAM I can render the thing correctly.

Well after 2 days of farce I've found that until I get access to a far better computer most imagery will be either screen captures or small portions rendered, but nothing full scale. For now a low res shot will have to do.

ROFL!!! Unless the Army War College suddenly got a Space Tactics department for the school, land and most wet naval tactics would be basically meaningless. ROFL!!! But LOGH definitely shows well the realism of war. Both in a politico and military way. Crest of the Stars & Banner of the Stars(all series) lack alot of the same Oomp! in realism which makes it a 'light' realism SF show.

Ever get the impression that M.B. wants to make the statement that Japan culture = evil bad guys? I mean basically all of the D-con's have various samurai helmet styled heads. Where as the Autobots have more american styled heads(Bumblebee's head looks like a football helmet) Either way it's clear that he wants to ride the current japanese = win train...
