Of course they do! They have to show the whole character evolution BS, so they will have more then a single suit. KingNor, they should have some concepts in the beginning of this thread still. But they've hinted at very busy slapdash designs being the 'main' hero suit.

Good to know. Thanks!

Since this is a mecha thread I figured I'd ask this here. The attached image... is this an 'official' design, just an illustrated design from an art book, or is it from a RPG system? I'd like to know because it has several details that I can use for my 3D Regult attempt.

How does Haruhiko Mikimoto rate as a Character Designer?
chrono replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Back on topic. Haruhiko Mikimoto's designs started out as sloppy 70's style, but quickly developing into the then 'normal' 80's style. Which in my mind does not set him apart from others of the era (Orange Road anyone). The best thing about his work is that he did attempt to stay true to the theme of 'realistic' anime characters. Sadly the realistic anime style was thrown to the way-side when the Sharp & Big Eyed style became trendy. *damn you Masamune Shirow!* Mikimoto's in the top 5 of all time. But I've gonna say that Satoshi Urushihara just does it for me, and frankly he's the father of the high detailed 'pretty girl' eyes. -
Which is excellent! However if they attempt to pull a Halo suit for the newer suit it gets instant-fail.

Well she's finished. She comes in at 3.8 million faces 800k over budget, but I'm happy with it. Sadly no possible renders can be done on my current hardware & software(it's either too large to render or has too many objects to import correctly). Believe I tried to get it rendered today but after spending 3 days fighting it I give up!

The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
chrono replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Nothing stopping you from buying Imports, but please don't make others suffer because of your weeboo hatred. Remember that 50% of the buying audience and 99% of the anime networks will ONLY buy/show a dub. Manga company's may have gone non-flipped because 47% of the audience would still read it, but it's industrial suicide to go 'sub-only' and the anime market would shrink back down to late 80's-early 90's levels. Besides anime looks like crap on an HD screen because it's just not designed for it. -
The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
chrono replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah Bandai is off their rocker if they think that people in R1 will buy at that price WITHOUT a dub. And it doesn't seem to be the only show that is planned to recieve this type of treatment. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-...l-about-pricing -
Yeah Gainax is in a rut doing little more then FLCL parody/comedies. And after the recent 2-4 years of anime that's been shown it's understandable why Anno has a beef with the current anime trends.
-
Yeah the anime is made of 4chan QUALITY. But after watching ep1 again I'm warming to it's characters, especially the Yoko character who has some neat little body movements(not 'the bounce') and attitude(her VA's voice doesn't hurt either). That and you've got mecha making heroic Getter Robo style faces!!!
-
Maybe if they only had stayed underground and never meet any of the mecha that they are using. Mecha/Monsters = Modok the intro = a certain pirate Kamina = 70's-80's delinquent This is a Getter FLCL parody. Thus I dub it GETTER COOLY!
-
Yeah I remember Hard Time. I enjoyed it because of it's Hulkish-ness.

Gainax doing original!?!

Trailer for Rodriguez and Tarantino's Grindhouse
chrono replied to chowyunskinny's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Zombie Flick + Tarantino = Stylized Autopsies But maybe he'll find his true calling and only start putting out gore movies instead of the other stuff that he pushs as movies. *begins to wonder what he could do with a Toxic Avenger remake....* -
*sigh* Another Gainax copy/paste anime, but one with a main female character that's happy to get her melons rubbed. Nice healthy pillow!
-
Most of the show was painful, not just the intro. It started out fairly ok-ish with the 'dark hero' bit, but it quickly spiraled into WTF!?!? land.
-
Yeah I think I'll be skipping this one also. It's gonna be a short series anyways because of the sheer amount of 3D that they've been using just in the first 2 episodes is gonna put a big hole in their budget. I did find it kinda neat how they are using pacific 'the ring of Fire' and hinted at the legend of the Mu via the dagger. However I found it horribly stereotypical with the 'base' similar in shape to several others. The pacing is nearly as bad because you never get a breath the entire show. I seriously hope that Kawamori only did the designs and had nothing to do with the rest of the show.

Those legs look pretty damned solid right now. I can't tell due to the gray on gray, but did you put a slight curve on the legs front? Gonna do ALL 3-4 versions of the Regult? *but crap now MY Regult will have to go into stand by mode because I'm not gonna work on one while someone else is! Ah well I've got those orthos of Tenchi ships...* On the VF low poly. It depends. Do you need the full model as scale reference? If not then I'd just copy the attachment faces of where the FP rests and save the copied geometry and FP work to a file and simply NOT save the scene that you did it in to avoid changes to the VF.

*shrugs* Don't know yet. (damn 56k dial-up) But I think that it got torpedoed by the 2 other mecha shows that came out as well. One by Gonzo and 1 by Xebec.

Roger Harkavy's unpublished Imai material Artbook
chrono replied to wwwmwww's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Artbook is really wishful thinking at best unless the Magazine they are shown in either has a 'best of' Annual book or they spend thousands backtracking the mess of copyright, nation laws, international laws, and pending court cases that maybe connected to it... it's more then likely not gonna happen Besides the guy/magazine is somewhat clueless when it comes to that, after reading the blogpage. They try'ed to copyright a photography of an image. lol -
What Current Anime Series Are You Watching?
chrono replied to s_i_t_h_l_o_r_d's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
bsu legato, we still haven't. It only feels different because their are more subbers out there. Hell manga's gotten the exact same way, but at least you can tell who the real scanlators are and who are the real thieves. Well several new shows are coming out and I just got done watching one called Heroic Age. Not to bad, but not to good either. Kinda flat animation, but with slightly better then average 3D. It's a SF mecha show that seems to be shonen styled, but it's too early to tell right now. But the main design very much reminds you of a shark. For myself it reminds me of a Terrasque/Genocyber/Orgun crossbreed of Nono power levels. Hopefully it'll have a solid story, because overall the quality is about C+ level(slightly below standard). -
*PST!* the raws are out...
-
All right now that it's 4-3 how many hows do I have to wait for the raw? I was doing a little referencing and found that Kawamori was a very busy person the last year and will be this year. Apparently he is also going to direct an original work called Space-Time Wars with Studio 4oC sometime in July 7-7!

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching?
chrono replied to s_i_t_h_l_o_r_d's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just watched the first episode today and yeow! I'm in heaven! It's like they've animated some of Ben Bova's material!!! I'm in SF heaven with this series and REALLY hope that the manga comes over, because it looks like this is gonna be some great stuff! I also finished watching Aquarian Age, Dai-Guard, Gravion & Zwei, and Divergence Eve. Aquarian Age - don't even go NEAR this one! This baby isn't even rental material. It's just flat out horrible stuff, even if you give it a shoujo label. It's 12 episodes that with some thought could've been turned into a 38 episode worthwhile title, but they barely wrote enough to fill up 7 episodes let alone the 12 that it got. If you feel a WTF! at the end of NGE then you'll go WTF!?!?!?! at the end of this one. The plot/story is too full of holes to be coherent. Dai-Guard - another stinker that's a rental at most. Virtually no plot or meaningful story beyond the standard "Community is all." material Divergence Eve - brain meltingly good stuff! A great show, even with the ridiculous fan service, that puts time & history to great use without sounding badly cliched. It probably has one of the best secondary character death scenes since Alien!!! It's one of those very few SF show that uses science possibilities to it's benefit without using it as a massive crutch. If you liked 2001 then you'll probably like this one. Gravion & Gravion Zwei - are pretty combiner mecha shows that are 'ok' and ones that you have to be a real mecha head to really enjoy, because it's so damned full of usual cliches, stereotypes, fetishs, and fan service that it will almost make a normal person gag. It's very nice visually with often characters being in focus with blurried background objects, which is something becoming increasingly rare at normal animation levels. It has the standard enemy's leveling up, but overall it's got a nice casual viewer watchability to it. A solid rental. Now to finish My-Hime, Ten-Ten, AMG!, and work on my Noein. -
UN Spacy, Looks more like a horrible kit-bash rather then a thoughtful design. Trekkies have pretty much exhausted the semi-descent possibilities and I see several of fan influences immediately. But I'm not expecting anything from the movie, especially with Jennifer Garner being hinted at being in the film.
