The CG stuff in Mac 0 looks good, although it is a completely different approach when compared to Mac Plus or DYRL. Just shows how Kawamori is willing to try new things, whatever the fanboys may think.

I'll make sure to pay attention when I watch episode 3, but so far I was pretty impressed with the fight scenes in 1 and 2. I really liked how they incorporated Shin's flashback when he jumps into the VF-0 for the first time, it reminded me of Hikaru killing the Zentraedi. The only thing that bothered me was the style of the animation. Even though it might be a shallow point to make but it bothered me how Roy didn't look like Roy.

Last night, my co-worker's boyfriend brought me the first two episodes of Macross Zero (thanks Trey! ) and I watched them when I got home from work. I have to say, Macross Zero is very impressive. I think that it almost has the same feel as Macross Plus and DYRL in that it takes a serious look at the consequences of war and with the storyline including the testing and training of new valkyries. The fight scenes were great, especially the battle between Roy and Ivanov. One thing that I noticed were the sound effects, especially concerning the valks when they moved around. They sounded almost like something you would hear in Robocop, with the clicking and the whirring noises. Another thing I noticed was how the valks moved differently, especially when compared to the other series'. For example, in DYRL, we mostly see the valks flying around in space; floating, crashing through bridges, blasting around asteroids. In 7, I don't think we really got to see how the valks handle, other than Max in his VF-22S at the end, we saw instead more Basara and Sound Force having stand-off situations and blasting their music at the enemy. In Mac 0, we see intense aerial battles but what surprised me was how the valks performed on or near the ground. They moved in a more natural fashion, walking, running and maneuvering more like birds than mecha. I thought this was keeping in theme with the Bird-man idea and it fit well in the series. Also, with Shin and Sara, I definitely see some parallels between them and Basara and Sivil. Am I the only one on this? Overall, I thought it was great, and I can't wait to see episode 3.

Starship Troopers, for sure. Saw it on FX too and sometimes just had to laugh at it. But yet, was entertained the whole time. Does Clash of the Bionoids count? J/K lol

I'm 21 and got addicted to Valks when I was a kid and saw them at a toy store when I was a kid (they were just beginning to become extinct by then). The first one I ever saw, and am still looking for, was a 1/100 Takatoku VF-1S Roy. I'd have to say MOH has the worst and most abrupt endings ever. Allied Assault was a great game, long and pretty well drawn out, but Spearhead took me one day and although it had some great scenes in it, it was pretty bland. I like the MOH series and I'm thinking about getting Rising Sun...

The only reason I could stomach Phantom Menace was the final fight b/w Qui-gon, Obi, and Darth Maul. Sorry to all the Kubrick fans, but I just wanted to shoot myself during 2001: A Space Odyssey

I'm with NERV, the mech design is horrible. The whole Zion scene in Reloaded kinda turned me off....

Micronian Devil, I'm almost in the same area as you. I'm in Riverside, about 10 minutes away from the Waterman fire. Fires started last Tuesday and haven't stopped, its insane. Stepping outside, all you see is ash falling like snowflakes and the sunlight filtering through the smoke makes it look like a scene from Apocalypse Now...So crazy. Almost defeats the purpose of going outside to have a cigarette, I swear....

Saw it last night! I remember I started a thread about this movie after I first saw the trailer. Just have to say that it was very good, the action was great, the gore was great and sometimes downright hilarious. Just a cool, cool movie.

Ben-man, while I hate to defend this movie after just seeing the trailer, I think you should give Tarantino some more respect He's not one to just make a "serious Charlie's Angels".

Went to go see that crapfest called Cabin Fever last night and caught the trailer for Tarantino's new film (actually two new films) "Kill Bill" with Uma Thurman. God, it looks so awesome. I was never a Lucy Liu fan, but this one might make me one. And the action looks so great. I love the scenes they show of Uma Thurman having an all out knife fight with Vivica A. Fox. Can't wait till this one comes out. Can't remember the last time I was so excited about a movie coming out!!!

Spend half of a full day watching LOTR????? I think I would end up hating the movies after that....

Yep, Anime Friend's job on Macross is one reason why I cringe when I watch the show. Especially the Virgin Road episode. Milia (sp) is supposed to be hot, dammit! Can you imagine if they had drawn Misato or Asuka all f*cked up in Eva! Gah!

FB 2012 is worth it, for those of you who don't own it yet. It's my fav. style of animation in the Mac series...

Christian Bale sounds alright. He was awesome in Equilibrium. But I think almost everybody has a bad aftertaste in their mouths after the last couple of Batman movies.

What's so great about this boxset that it's sold out everywhere? And why the heck does it cost so much? Does Asuka come to life if you buy it? No but seriously, what's up with it?
