  1. Also, the R2 DVD's feature the initial two episodes in the form of the original 1-hour Macross pilot. The Animeigo just has the first two episodes as individual eps. You're only missing slightly modified intros, eyecatches, and endings.
  2. I still maintain it was the other way around. The DVD had already come into it's own by the time the PS2 launched. The players had reached the <100$ range. Every store around carried the disks. I think DVD helped the PS2 more than the PS2 helped DVD. I think it depends on what part of the world you're talking about. In Japan, the laserdisc market was strong and right on track up until the PS2 was released. There was a definite positve correlation between PS2 and DVD sales in Japan. In the US, well the LD format never really caught on, so DVD's had an instant appeal when compared to our crappy VHS tapes.
  3. Aside from the detachable legs, I think Billy Wong's 1/60 VF-1 has the best proportions out of all the VF-1's ever made. No small feat, even the mighty 1/48 suffers from gangly arms and shrunken hands. I admit his Macross Plus toys were mediocre, but they were Yamato's first venture into Macross toys, their designs are near impossible to implement in a perfect-transformation toy, and he was working with a relatively small scale (1/72).
  4. Hey man, feel free to mix and match the images Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be able so snag one of these box sets, so customize it however you like! I would make some more variations, but I'm hardly ever home, hell I'm not even home as I type this.
  5. Yup, they're all from the dvd box sets. Except for the Myung pic, that's actually a full size poster I've got. If you want to use it, I'm gonna need someone's digicam. Bobe, you and everyone else help yourself to editing or whatever to the pic. I only wish I had mad PS skills like you guys
  6. figure I might as well and don't worry, I do have the original image that's on the top. That's just a low-res scan I picked up off the net. Also, if I were better with PS, I would've added a nice unifying border and the logo somewhere. Come to think of it, the original image with Myung, Isamu, and Guld has a small Mac+ logo in the corner.
  7. figure I might as well give it a shot
  8. True dat, just messing with you Max, that's all. I used to post on MW daily, till I got a job where they blocked the WWW. Now, the overzealous fanboys don't seem so bad anymore.
  9. You're right, the earlier proto looks much better than the Dengeki pic. It's possible, but unlikely, that a later version would actually be inferior. Hopefully Yamato will release some publicity photos of their own to set the recrod straight.
  10. Jesus Christ, Max will never be happy with SW fans.
  11. Which Walmart? I'm kinda familiar with the DC area.
  12. Eh, what the?! I'm still here! I never got any PM's about higher res scans or anything, so I figured no one cared If one of you is serious about making wallpaper or something, shoot me an PM and I'll upload some tifs to the Internet. I would do it here, but the mods would probably ban me
  13. It's refreshing to see Yamato release a Macross toy that isn't a VF-1. But, that doesn't give them luxury of releasing something so ugly that I'd confuse it for a Toynami product. The latest pic of the Konig Monster, at best, only bears a passing resemblance to the lineart. Please note: The rat claws that are supposed to be hands The positioning of the legs. They're supposed to end at the "crotch." Instead, they go up as far the Battroid's chest, not to mention they're spread so far apart that it looks like they attach to the shoulders. The head looks like it's sunken into some sort of backpack. The missing gun from the chest. The slumping shoulders. Hate to draw so much attention to crotch ,but just compare the two. The colors are way off, but this is just a prototype. Hopefully the final product will bear the colors from VFX-2. The toy is not without its merits. Shuttle mode looks fantastic! But the Battroid is complete mess. Had this been one of Yamato's early ventures, like the YF-19, I would be more forgiving. But it's now 2004, and we've seen what Yamato is capable of doing. Unless Yamato is going to market this as an "economy" toy, ala the VF-0, I cannot understand why they've done such a poor job with Battroid mode.
  14. from what i've read, its $40+, you have to glue it together, and paint it yourself. it can hold all the valks(1/60, 1/55, 1/48) as well as other mecha? other than that, theres not too much info on these. Two more things to note about Yamato's launch claws/stands, from all the pictures we've seen so far, they won't be able to accomodate the 1/48's gundpod in fighter mode. OTOH, haterists stands can handle the whole she-bang. Also, let's not forget that Yamato's launch claw holds the Valkyries incorrectly. They should be grasping Valkyries from above by their boosters, not from their undersides. Overall, haterists stands offer flexibility. Not only do Macross toys look great on them, but practically any other toy or model. Somehow, I don't see an A-Wing fighter looking too good on Yamato's launch claw.

    CMs Limited Ver

That would be more palatable. But then, who's under the helmet? Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of a CF pilot, but it would be really chessy if it was just a sculpt-swap with Hikaru.
  16. Huh? PLEASE! Show me a pic of Millia with pointed ears!

    CMs Limited Ver

I agree, these two limited figures are just a bunch of donkey doo-doo. Why in the world would I want to pay over a hundred dollars for a Hikaru figure whose colors are completely off and an awkwardly posed Minmay. My guess is that the Hikaru's are just factory defects and CMs is brilliantly marketing them as limited editions. I guess a factory defect would be rare.
  18. Funny but those ain´t sound boosters , itwas never mentioned in Scrambled valk that it was a sound booster , I would say it´s more of a energy abosrbtion pod or something else. Dude, I was joking. Hence the " " Besides, who would want to hear Hikaru sing?
  19. Awesome! A VF-1 with a Sound Booster! I never knew lineart of this Valkyrie existed, much less that it was designed by Kawamori himself. I always assumed it was by Ohta or another of the ELS designers. If you don't mind my asking, which book was this scanned from?
  20. Re-releasing the low-vis will only hurt the sales of the original low-vis, which Yamato doesn't care about since that run is long over. Someone perfectly described "completists" as buyers will bulls-eyes on their backs The "completist" is precisely the type of person that Yamato counts on to buy their reissues and variants. Conversely, while the average Macross fan would know better than to buy the exact same toy twice, mom & pop shops and TRU don't, so Yamato still makes money off them. It might not be this year, or even next year, but I firmly believe Yamato will re-issue the low-vis (or some variant such as a 1J). Just look at the ridiculous prices this cash cow is commanding on E-bay, there's most definitely a demand for it.
  21. I realize I'm late to the party, but here's my Mac7 experience. I used to be the biggest Macross 7 hater. I never wasted a moment to bash the series, but then Valkyrie and LanceW forced me to watch it. The first twelve episodes were excruciatingly bad, they were just so repetitive. But after ep 13, the plot got moving and I became interested. By episode 26, I was hooked. The series isn't without it's flaws, but it was an overall worthwhile experience. Most people watch the first two to four episodes and write off the series. The series is light on the mecha and heavy on the fun, but you have to remember that that's what Macross Plus was for. Both series were released at about the same time for a reason: Macross Plus for the serious mecha heads, and Macross 7 for the fun loving j-pop fans.
  22. Hey, nobody told me the Robotech and HG license debates thread was moved to this forum. My bad, this is a whole new thread. It's just the same crap, different forum. Renato, I've scanned the entire Saturn booklet in the hopes of putting to rest this urban legend. While my Japanese is on par with my ability to pilot a Valkyrie, I'm going to go out on a limb when I say there's nothing of interest in this booklet. It's all here in a 1.2 meg .zip hosted on another site. I've used up enough of Shawn's bandwidth http://tiger.towson.edu/~kmudd2/macross/DY...urn_Booklet.zip
  23. Hey man, I offered to scan them a few months ago, but you never replied, so I never bothered to go ahead with it. Anyways, here are a couple of pages. I could scan the rest of the booklet later, but it's just characters bios and mecha listings, at least as far as I can tell. If you need higher res scans for clarity, just say so.
  24. The difference this time is that they've already gone ahead and released DYRL toys. Toynami has had plenty of oppurtunities over the past 4 years to exploit DYRL designs, yet they've avoided it as if they honestly believed they did not have that right. But now, Toynami has released DYRL toys. HG must have shown Toynami some very convincing evidence, because no company makes this sort of financial commitment on a bluff.
  25. And I always wondered why the MPC Super Armor had removable booster tips. Can we say Masterpiece Strike Valkyries?
