  1. That's a great breakthrough, except that most Japanese sellers simply don't like to sell items overseas. There's nothing stopping Americans from creating a Yahoo Japan account, it's just that 99% of Yahoo Japan auctions explicitely state that the seller refuses to ship internationally.
  2. From my understanding, as the primary financial backer for Macross Frontier, Bandai is automatically given first dibs on the Frontier toy license. Whether they've decided to go for it or take a pass is still unknown. I'm not sure how involved (if at all) Bandai was with Zero's production. But from past experience its clear Bandai doesn't bother to make toys for Macross OVA's (II, Plus, Dynamite, Zero), just Macross tv shows (SDF, 7).
  3. Awesome, December is looking to be a good month with this update and the new halo maps. Do you know if these maps will be free? Hey David, instead of creating a Mass Effect thread, why not just rename this thread "The Mass Effect / 360 Thread Elite Edition." Sometime next year, when you guys are done talking about ME, you can change the name back.
  4. Delimiter mode? Oh great, more stuff that can fall off.
  5. No more rumors, divx/xvid support has been added to the 360. It should be out sometime this month. http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/archive/200...ayback-faq.aspx
  6. Actually it was dubbed. Though I use the term "dub" loosely. Though it will most likely never be dubbed again, see crasis' link for more info. 7. My mistake, you're right. I got BD and PS3 discs confused.
  8. 360 games aren't required to use region coding. But, game publishers have the option of enabling region coding at their discretion. If you're looking for compatibility on a specific game it's best to check with the publisher or forums dedicated to that game. PS3 games use region coding, but Japan and USA are considered to be in the same region so our PS3 games our interchangeable.
  9. Whoah! This has been happening a lot with Live accounts, but from everything I've heard it's from people who are sharing their account info with strangers who promise to get them all sorts of achievements and rankings. In your case, I have no idea how your account got hacked. It's standard Live procedure to close any account that's been compromised (most often due to user error), but maybe if you let them know that in no way did you share your account info with anyone else, they may refund your MS points. What I find most worrisome is that whoever hacked your account may now have access to your full name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and quite possibly your credit card info. Anyways, good luck getting this thing settled.
  10. That's a very good editorial, I especially like how it examines the issue from all sides instead of your typical one-sided editorial. While I can't speak for the masses, I have no problem paying for anime as long as I feel it's a quality title. I downloaded the Gunbuster fansub years ago, but when Bandai announced the R1 DVD's I didn't hesitate to buy it. Gunbuster had an excellent story and I'm proud to display it on my DVD case, but on the other hand I would never pay money for pile of crap like Macross Zero, that show is strictly a download. If the industry wants my money, then they should produce more quality titles instead of generic pop anime. As an older fan, I have a full time job with disposable income, so I wouldn't mind buying quality anime even if I could download it. But if the industry is going to cater to the much larger teenager demographic with pop anime, I don't know how they expect them to pay for it while working minimum wage. Another one of the problems is that DVD's don't offer anything that you can't already download, so there's little incentive to go out and buy it. But if the DVD's came with something that you couldn't download, like a small harbound artbook, that may stimulate sales. I've seen some companies try this idea, but they usually throw in worthless memorabilia like keychains, pencil sharpeners, t-shirts, etc. Why not tempt fans with something truly interesting? Say, every DVD of this series will come with a piece of a ship (or character) from said show and if you buy them all you can then assemble the figure. I also agree with eugimon in that Japan is most likely overcharging US distributors for anime licenses.
  11. QFT!
  12. Kanata and I were in the process of having several of these shipped over from China via a MW member there, unfortunately that deal fell through. Even though these are only $5 a piece, AFAIK they are very rare since they were never sold outside of China. There was another variant that also had the LED and clear canopy, but it came in Hikaru's 1A colors, unlike the one shown here which is mostly red. If anyone has any contacts in China and is willing to do a bulk order, I'd be very interested in ordering some
  13. I just picked up a 60gb unit (for $350 after taxes, I just couldn't say no) and when I began tinkering with the A/V settings on the first day it kept on resetting back to the defaults every time I unplugged the unit. But after that first day it seems to be saving them so that I don't have to keep switching the video to HDMI and audio to optical. My guess is that the ps3 uses some sort of rechargeable battery for its settings and if you keep it unplugged long enough the battery will die and you'll need to set your A/V settings again. I really have to wonder why Sony went this route after the PS2 didn't have any problems keeping its A/V settings indefinitely.
  14. That's actually a pretty good idea. Taking it a step further, Yamato should included a postage-paid feedback card in English with every Macross toy they sell, that way US customers can tell Yamato how they heard about their products. All they would need to do is setup a PO Box somewhere in the US.
  15. That won't work either. Let's say I donate a good chunk of change to MW, then a few weeks later I post an informative thread that gets stickied, you know some catty member is going to start accusing the mods of playing favorites by sticking my thread. Or, if I get a custom member title (however derogatory as it may be), some little girl is going to say the mods are playing favorites just because I donated. Sometimes I think we're too immature to handle donations
  16. 1/1 Minmay doll!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. You're right, Sony is selling the PS3 for a huge loss right now, but I do believe that another PS3 price cut is going to come in another 8 - 10 months. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 hits $300 by X-mas '08. My reasoning being that, unlike their competitors, Sony is fighting a two-headed battle with the PS3. On the videogame side, I believe Sony will come in 3rd or 4th place (behind the Wii, 360, and DS) for the 2nd X-mas season in a row. If this prediction is true, then Sony is going to come under tremendous pressure to right the PS3 ship, hence another pricedrop. On the Blu-Ray side, HD-DVD is quickly making a comeback with their $100 players. From what I'm reading, $100 HD-DVD players are selling out like Nintendo's Wii. If HD-DVD manages to beat Blu-Ray this Christmas, things are going to look even worse. Sony could probably afford to lose either the videogame war or the Blu-Ray war, but not both. And since the PS3 is playing a huge part in pushing Blu-Ray, I believe Sony's going to drop the price to help win one or both battles. As for Nintendo, they're laughing all the way to the bank. At $250, I'm certain they're selling the Wii for a very nice profit, after all the Wii is simply an overclocked Gamecube with 500mb of flash memory. They could easily afford to drop the Wii pricetag, but right now they have absolutely no reason to. And when push comes to shove, Nintendo will be in a position where they can drop the Wii pricetag while still selling it for a profit.
  18. Hey Ryuji, check out Mr. March's excellent website. The bottom right corner of this page pretty much has all the cockpit lineart from DYRL. http://www.un-spacy-qmtdb.com/Macross%20DY...1a-fastpack.htm Here's a sample.
  19. I wouldn't worry too much, it looks like Yamato has a lot of experience making female figures. http://www.yamato-toys.com/items/goods_lis...004&cid=116
  20. So basically you get paid a very small amount every time someone clicks on the link, right? Well I've just done so, hopefully enough people will too in order to make it worth your while I take it they log each click per IP address so that a single person can't send tons of cash your way?
  21. If Yamato is sponsoring MW, how does this bode for the 1/48 recasting scene? Would Yamato put the kibosh on the recast 1S heads, TV hands and side-covers, after all I'm sure they'd prefer us to buy the complete toy instead of recasting individual parts. Also, if Bandai begins producing Macross Frontier toys next year, is Yamato going to try to gently steer the forums towards their own products over Bandai's? On the other hand, we're now one step closer to a MW exclusive toy! Who am I kidding?
  22. I suggest you check out MW's list of Macross console games. There a multiple games that use the DYRL name even though they're not always the same game. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/games/...t_homevideo.htm
  23. So is Yamato an official MW sponsor now, or is this just some friendly advertising?
  24. I wouldn't get too upset, allegedly this new DS won't even have GBA support and Nintendo isn't considering releasing it until DS Lite sales taper off. The DS Lites are still selling well and I don't see them dropping off until another year.
  25. Yes. No. Japanese PS1 games, that's it.
