  1. dude i wud change your signature to read "ミサイル" and not "ミッサイル." it looks kinda silly.
  2. i've lived in OC most of my life and currently live just across the county line on the LA side. i love it, but i grew up here so i'm a little biased. as others have said, it depends on your priorities in life whether you'd enjoy it or not. heavy traffic and a pathetic excuse for public transit are a deal killer for many people, along with the high cost of living. but if you can live with traffic and high living costs there are a lot of positives. you just can't beat the weather. right now it's summer and outside it's a mild 76 degrees with low humidity. it rarely gets above the high 80s, and rarely below the mid 50s in winter. it's a city so it's fast paced, but no where near as fast paced as manhattan or tokyo. you can always skip work and take a lazy day off and relax at your favorite beach. there's lots of nightlife if you're into that, you don't HAVE to go to the elitest clubs that the celebs go to. there are plenty of clubs ranging from mainstream party clubs to eclectic artsy music clubs. little tokyo has declined compared to it's peak but seems to be on the rebound, and there are plenty of other places to get Japanese food and anime stuff as well. LA's chinatown is kinda weak compared to other big cities (esp san fran) but there are plenty of other asian (k-town is massive) and non-asian ethnic enclaves with great food. there's lots of bomb mexican food, you can't beat the taco trucks. if you're into nature the mountains are not far away either, you can snowboard and surf on the same day if you wanted to! the ghetto areas are pretty bad so it's crucial to pick the right part of town to live in. someone mentioned venice, santa monica, and culver city on the westside, those are all nice. cerritos/lakewood/bellflower is more down to earth, but not ghetto. then there's the nice suburban areas like palos verdes(expensive!), rowland/hacienda heights, OC. i personally like cerritos because it's not that rich and glitzy but has kind of a suburban niceness and is close to 3 major freeways. even with traffic, i can get to OC, downtown, long beach, LAX, or hollywood pretty quick.
  3. eh, why do we still care about chunkys???
  4. omg wtf. this ep was a little over the top for me.
  5. i say go ahead and lock it. there's already a thread on the game, and it's pointless to discuss anything cuz there's too few details released anyway. this is a really pointless thread started by a person that has a habit of starting pointless threads.
  6. i'm glad everyone here is too mature to jump on this joker's bait and start a console debate. TF52 your posts have been seriously lacking in quality.
  7. i sure hope you are not the exception to the rule. i happen to be an old school fan as well and i am thoroughly enjoying frontier. and in this forum that is heavily populated by old school types almost every episode has had a 90%+ approval rating. i honestly think the continuity nazis are just the loud minority.
  8. wow great post. i hope this isn't the last we see of macross tho..
  9. actually in the flashback where ranka is lying on her mom's lap listening to aimo, you can clearly see brera holding a harmonica behind her mom's right shoulder. i hope this hasn't been mentioned yet, otherwise i feel stupid.
  10. mother of mary, what an episode. anyone else get a serious mospeada vibe from this episode? heroes trudging thru lush jungle, biological hive with queen, wrecked remains of ships, mysterious pilots of enemy craft with crushes on one of the good guys, etc etc. also, i'm starting to get the feeling the vajra are some kind of protectors of nature, like the giant bugs from nausicaa. when grace mentioned the death of the galactic fairy and the destruction of a planetary system causing hatred to boil over, i don't think she was referring to just one side (why would the humans care about the destruction of an insignificant planet like gallia 4?). in other words, i think she was saying the death of the galactic fairy would enrage the humans while the destruction of the star system would enrage the vajra. i hope i'm wrong, cuz if i'm right we could have an ending where the heroes discover humans must learn to live in harmony with nature and in harmony with the vajra. and i really don't want to see environmentalist undertones in frontier.
  11. i think the new fold booster suddenly appearing is not some kind of gimick, but a significant plot point. somehow the technology for the new fold booster is related to the vajra, which means it is probably related to all the shady behind the scenes dealing going on with leon, grace, bilrer and who knows what else. i think grace or whoever is behind the scenes pulling the strings specifically created this situation to lure LAI to bring out their new top secret fold booster. perhaps they even knew about the sleeping vajra on the planet and planned for ranka to go there and wake up the thing.
  12. interesting, i wonder if this screencap is from a cutback scene showing how the ship got to galia 4 or is showing the ship on galia 4 returning to space with the macross frontier fleet? we clearly see more contemporary ships like stealth frigates and maizuru class carriers in the background. however, because of the fold faults it would be difficult for the ship to get back to the frontier fleet. and it would be difficult for what looks like a thrashed ship to turn brand new and shiny looking again.
  13. you forgot the sound booster speaker pods mounted under the wings.
  14. this is completely ignoring the fact that sdf-1 was NOT global's ship for several decades between sw1 and macross f. in mac plus, we clearly see that sdf-1 is captained by someone else, and i'm damn sure that global was not the captain of sdf-1 when it got hijacked in vfx-2. because kawamori likes to retconn, i think both explanations are likely. it could be the sdf-1 or it could be a similar ship that was built that we simply didn't know about. global could have gone on to captain an sdf-3 or 4 after sw1, we simply don't know. the japanese in the ep13 preview is just too ambiguous to definitively say one way or the other. i'm starting to think that it is THE sdf-1 was well, but we just won't know for sure until episode 13 comes out.
  15. actually, that's "i love you" in sign language. as far as the neo fold booster goes i have a feeling that that is the reason whoever was pulling the strings arranged the visit by sheryl. it was already planned out that sheryl would be kidnapped upon arrival at a location that was extremely close to frontier but almost completely blocked by fold dislocations. as wilder said, sounds kinda fishy. i get the feeling that they lured SMS and LAI to bring their new fold booster out to galia 4 on purpose. remember, the technology behind the new fold boosters is somehow tied to the purple crystals and the vajra.
  16. wow 12,000 yen is a bargain compared to yamato!!!! these better be nice bandai!!!!
  17. Misa: *slaps MisaForever* "That's what you get for ditching me for Klan!!!"
  18. i'm gonna join in on the speculation party with my own wild and crazy theory: what if they designed a whole class of 1st gen macross class ships based off of the original sdf-1. and what if one of the 1st gen macross class ships accompanied the megaroad 1 fleet. and what if a retired global decided to join the megaroad fleet. maybe it's possible the megaroad 1 fleet approached gallia 4, got attacked by the vajra queen, and lost contact with earth. in the attack, admiral misa lost her life, resulting in a valiant global coming out of retirement to lead the macross class ship on one last death charge against the vajra queen. so perhaps in the next episode we are gonna finally find out what happened to hikaru, misa, minmay and the megaroad 1???
  19. kresphy that is some funny ish. couple things i wanted to clarify: as described by klan, the 33rd marine division is made up of pro-culture and anti-culture zentradi that are always at conflict with each other. the anti-culture faction makes the following demand to the leadership "if this culture thing is so good bring us a singer and we'll see if she can change our minds." this was just so they could get a VIP hostage and continue the fight. of course, ranka ends up flying in to save the day and winning over everyone but tenjin, or whatever his name was. wilder can also be translated to say "this is almost going too good (for the enemies, bad for us)...." or "everything strangely fits too well.." thus, this dialogue can be translated like this: Wilder: "But everything strangely fits too well. It's almost as if...." (looks at Cathy) Cathy: "As if?" Wilder: "Nevermind." my speculation: Wilder is saying it's almost as if someone planned it out to be this way. however, he looks at cathy and being suspicious of NUNS' current actions, decides to keep it to himself. finally, not to rain on the speculation party going on here about the sdf-1, but the preview for 13 can be translated as "1st generation macross." because of the ambiguous nature of the japanese language, this could mean "the 1st macross," or "a 1st generation macross class ship." who knows, maybe it's been retconned into the timeline that more than one macross was built. so maybe it isn't the original sdf-1 at all. however, that wouldn't explain the title "memory of global."
  20. omg!!!!! this series just gets better and better!!!!!!! as far as the love triangle goes, this is sheryl's first big setback. it'll be interesting to see how she bounces back from this.
  21. WOW!!!!! NICE MOD!!!!!
  22. plane on top looks like a vf-5000...
  23. DAMMIT WHY CAN'T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT SOME PEOPLE GET OFFENDED AND MOVE ON AND JUST LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!!!???? JUST LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!!!!!!!! DAMMIT IS THAT SO HARD TO ASK!!!!??????? PM sent. I am getting sick and tired of the BS that goes on here.
  24. booooo where's my vf-0d???
  25. hah.. well if things are to remain civil i wish HE would not keep STARTING FIRES (yes i pmed him about it). and i know i'm not the only one he's pissed off in the forums because of his lack of courtesy. but back on topic: seems like there's been a lot of unsatisfied peeps over the episode but i enjoyed it a lot. people say the story hasn't advanced a lot but as far as the love triangle goes this was a pretty big advancement in my view. sheryl def scored a touchdown against ranka, although it seems like she's taken a hint from the patriots and is using some spygate tactics. and yeah there are still many secrets that are yet to be revealed but they have revealed some significant things. 1. grace is in fact brera's handler 2. leon and grace appear to not be on the same side, but on different sides that are at the moment allied together (not only did she share data of the vajra and vf-27, she gave a sample of the vf-27 to leon, which leon delivered to LAI, they also seem to be using sheryl as a pawn for their bidding) 3. there are in fact active rogue members within the UN, and leon and grace seem interested in confronting them. of course, we still have no idea how the vajra fit in to all this but i have confidence that the plot will keep progressing nicely.
