  1. The big toys A7 brought up were not from the Arch Enemy line; they were almost a foot tall. The Arch Enemy line toys were approximately 7 inches tall, but I'm not if they were US exclusive.
  2. IIRC, "transforming" was the buzz word Bandai used on the packaging for that thing.
  3. I still have those around here somewhere. Sturdy bastards, huge too. The Sazabi is my fave though; you can totally man handle it unlike the MG. I miss the days when Gundam can be found at the local TRU.
  4. Many thanks for the heads up, dwc, but I ended up ordering a Sager NP8275 last night. I'm happy with the specs, and I'm pretty sure it'll handle anything I throw at it. Can't wait to mess with it!
  5. Yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous considering the average valk is only 10 inches long. Back on topic: hells yes I'm down for a delta winged valk, assuming it IS a VF-0D. Everybody wants the D!
  6. Thanks for the tip. I did some quick number crunching, but even with the full 35% discount, a Sager or a MSI laptop still came out ahead in terms of price and in some cases, performance.
  7. Yep, I'm seeing that now. Unfortunately, I can't take a risk by waiting for a killer deal like what you got, but with my budget, I'm liking my choices. A couple of colleagues have shared their horror stories with Dell so I'm kinda dubious about dealing with Dell. So far I've narrowed down some choices with MSI and Sager.
  8. Nah, no Macs for me. I've always felt I could find a far cheaper machine compared to any equally spec'ed Mac these days. Though I still have fond memories of my Mac Classic and its bigass dot matrix printer that would shake the walls of my dorm room everytime I printed something. Thanks again, and I'll be sure to check out that site, Smiley.
  9. So you were looking for PILOTED mecha as main characters, got it. There was also Namco's Finest Hour, quite a rare find at the arcades. That beat-em-up is still the best Alien based game, IMO.
  10. Many thanks for your input gents! It never even crossed my mind to check what Toshiba has to offer myk, and I was real close to pulling the trigger on that ASUS before your complaint, DWC. Good run? Most definitely! This thing has been through a lot and has saved me several times on the road. As far as what I'm looking for, I want a big screen multimedia machine that would cope well with new gaming requirements, and I don't mind how heavy it gets. Features like 3D and a touch screen are not important, and I reckon a good gaming laptop can handle any office tasks I throw at it. Reading a few review articles led me to the ASUS, but thanks to you guys, I have more options to consider. I'm expecting a new laptop to last at least 5 years, and I'm willing to spend less than $1500.
  11. My guess would be the arcade version of this: Gotta love 2600 box art!
  12. After 7 years, my olde Presario laptop is dying a slow death. First the sound card died, then the wi-fi, just yesterday the dvd drive went kaput, a USB port went dead, and the battery can no longer hold a decent charge. I'm using USB adapters to accommodate these functions, but I'm down to two USB ports, and I'm starting to miss my mouse. This crusty companion is on life support and it's long overdue for an upgrade. After weighing my needs and doing some research, I'm leaning towards a new one like this: ASUS G750JW-DB71 17.3-Inch LaptopCould anyone share their opinion on my choice or perhaps recommend an alternative?
  13. I've seen FM5 for cheap on Ebay too, but do make sure that it's the regular release and not the "Ultimate Hits" edition. Apparently the patch doesn't work with that one. Of course there are other unscrupulous methods obtaining an ISO file.
  14. Complie's MUSHA & Robo Aleste Vasteel has some shooting action too, but it was primarily a strategy game. Ooh, and Baldr Bullet Rohga Armor Force/Wolf Fang Cybattler Spriggan Powered Bangaioh Strania Bari-Arm / Android Assault Devastator Transbot Formation Z/Aerobot (I had to reach down deep in the memory banks for the last two)
  15. The longest part is tracking down the program to apply the patch, and IIRC, the file for the patch contains locations on where to find it. Just run it, apply the patch to the FM iso file, then play via modded PS2 or even a PS2 emulator. Despite the translation team's wishes, there are patched iso files already out there though. Feel free to PM me, I got that program around here somewhere. FM4 was all kinds of awesome. While the characters didn't have the youthful goofiness of FM3's, the gameplay had more depth. Besides, who DOESN'T want to see Wolverine pilot a giant robot? I don't mind talking about Leynos or Valken here, although those games never reached the fame FM got. Aside form the other FM games, track down Ring of Red. But be prepared for loooong battles.
  16. Welcome to the MW thread for the under-appreciated SQUARE franchise of Front Mission. Personally, my first exposure to FM was FM 3 for the PS1. I was totally hooked on that game; the appeal of piloting a squad of fully customizable mechs in a world where such vehicles had actually succeeded in being an integral part of a modern battlefield added to an ungodly amount of hours to be spent on one videogame. After FM3, I went to play FM1, FM Gun Hazard, FM4 for the PS2, FM5, and just recently FM2. I would be remiss to not mention the small group of super-fans whose work allowed me to actually play these games in English. A thorough tour of their website will reveal exactly why FM did not get the attention it should have, not to mention the full reach of multimedia that the West did not get to enjoy. Regardless, I made this thread to gather fellow wanzer-heads, and to celebrate the acquisition of this bad boy, a hardly seen 1/35 scale resin kit of the venerable Zenith wanzer as depicted in FM2: This looks to be quite a build, so if anyone else has built this thing, I welcome your insight. In addition to FM2, I have also been enjoying the FM Dog Life & Dog Style manga. It seems to be a collection of vignettes that take place during the events of FM1. Its a great read, but it certainly deals with a lot more mature themes that none of the games have touched.
  17. Yeah, I reckon Sunstreaker would be a prime candidate for a 3rd party figure. I still have some hope that Takara would make their own toy of Mirage though. Does your Revoltech Megatron need company? Check out these Revoltech style 'cons.
  18. I can only hope that a MP Jazz would look just as good as this Wheeljack. I'm real curious about that weird seam on his chest though.
  19. Progress with the toy line is painfully slow, but the Armarauders FB page hints at a collaboration with Sentinel, and maybe even some news during the Winter Wonder Festival in Japan.
  20. This little beauty came in today. I was worried about the paint quality for Smokescreen, but that fear was put to rest after a quick inspection; the colors are vibrant and applied neatly with little abberations. His joints are rather tight though, much tighter than Prowl's. Of note is that Smokescreen doesn't have the hollow shoulder cannon mounts like those found on Prowl. He instead has small, extendable blue nubs for his unique shoulder blasters. So far TakaTomy is 3 for 3 with the latest MPs!
  21. Nee ha! Bloodia finally arrived from HLJ. SAL is cheap but it sure does take its sweet time. This thing is better than I expected. Included with the figure are the cannon shield, two hands with articulated fingers, the beam "bit", a square base, and an articulated stand. Good heft, neat paint applications, and great joint engineering make for one awesome toy to fiddle around with. My only complaint is that sometimes the right arm comes off the shoulder joint too easily, and that the seams are very blatant on the legs and shoulders. Blodia's very easy to pose and the joints are tight enough to hold some precarious positions. Bottom line, this figure is a real joy to behold especially for one who likes industrial, stocky mecha.
