Toys You Always Wanted
the white drew carey replied to Roy Focker's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Malibu Barbie!!! err... I mean TRANSFORMERS!!! and, and... G.I. JOE!!! Umm... seriously. As a whole we all learned after my depressing 1980 Christmas here Santa brought me NOTHING on my list that it was typically wiser that I'd get a couple Lego sets and then money from Santa and my family and then buy the toys I wanted afterwards. So, when I look back on it. I have no regrets about what I did or didn't get. -
Legendary Vf-5...myth Or Fact?
the white drew carey replied to Valk009's topic in Movies and TV Series
Agreed. -
Well, I found technical mech RPG's, being used in the anime genre, to be long, drawn out, and boring. Having a limited amount of spaces or actions you can perform per turn being rigidly controlled just sapped the fun out of it. This would suck in a game trying to portray the fast flying action of Macross or Gundam. It worked well for Battletech since the mecha in that were meant to be more of lumbering, hulking machines instead of the agile VF's we know and love.

Remastered Patlabor Movie I Is Freakin' Sweet
the white drew carey replied to Penguin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Speaking of which, I once found a website which specifies the best viewing order for the Patlabor universe, which makes the best of the chronology, but can't seem to find it anymore. Does anyone know of this site, or know what the best viewing order is? (I want my wife to watch it in order) -
Ingram... droool.

For Those Of Us Who Can Draw, Do You Think That
the white drew carey replied to Phalanx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm not too sure. While I'd like to think that I can draw mechanically very well, I've never put a concerted effort at doing original designs (or original variants, for that matter). I guess I could try. I've never really put a lot of effort into it. -
SPOILERS!!! 1) OK, where the fart does this leave Michael? I was hoping, beyond all hope, that he was brainwashed and not in control of his facilities. But the previews for next week make it seem like he was just desperate and doing anything to get Walt back (but why then, does he say that he thinks Walt isn't even alive anymore?)... 2) So does this mean the numbers mean nothing, or do they mean something more? Maybe The Pearl is simply another experiment? 3) I called that clear plastic piping as a pnuematic tube system the moment I saw it on screen. Thanks UW Hospitals and Clinics circa '97-'99!!! 4) I wasn't expecting Libby to be booted off. I was expecting her to live a bit longer. Oh well... At least she went out on heroin dreams. 5) And what the living hell were our castaways seeing in the preview? Rescue? Who knows? To sum it up, I haven't been hooked on a show like this in years. Hooray for entertainment.

M:i:iii/mission Impossible 3.
the white drew carey replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, a tiny little thing like what I mention in my sig is enough to turn me off of this movie. Then again, each MI movie has Tom Cruise being thrown around in some physically impossible manner, simply because they think it looks "cool". It looks stupid. Very, very stupid. -
Well, which exact set are you looking for. Just saying Magic Swap doesn't narrow it down. Try www.modchip.com.

Score one more for the Lucas Marketing Strategy Division. -
OK, what the hell just happened? SPOILERS BELOW!!!! Is Michael: 1) Working with the Others, 2) Brainwashed/programmed by the Others (ie- that's why you could hear the gun shaking in his hand, because he couldn't stop what he was doing), or 3) Freeing Henry because he was told by the Others that he could have Walt back if Henry was freed? BTW, do you think they killed off both Libby and Ana Lucia? I'm guessing Ana Lucia because this was the classic "The character's story is done" episode, in the sense that, in the flashback scenes, she finally stopped running from her demons and decided to go home. Wow. How many episodes are left in the season?

Drawing For A Life Time. 2d, 3d, Etc...
the white drew carey replied to vlenhoff's topic in Fan Works
Max ain't so bad, but the Milia s waaay off. Vlenhoff- While I appluad your work, I think you should move on and discontinue doing recolors of this piece. My main concern is that your pencil-work is great, yet the "nose" of the VF just seems very tilted from the body and, t me, it looks goofy. Let's see more. Damnit. 395165 The idea of this piece is that I wanted to have every color gathered in a Photoshop file. The only thing I have to do is click on the various layers and get my favorite combination valk. On the line art, I do see the effect of the nose of the valk, and i believe this effect increases since the intake is almost totally dark. Also, as i mentioned earlier this was done by memory at my friends house, so I know the nose might be a little off. At least it looks like that to me too. Since it was a memory drawing I decided to just let it be. That was my mental interpretation of a valk and that gives it some personal value. On the colors, maybe, I should add more magenta to Max so it's darker. I think I'm poisoned by Yamato's colors, or maybe my monitor needs some caibration. I'll show some results on the colors soon. Thanks for the commentaries, I'll keep on posting changes and new material. I appreciate the input. 395183 Well, for one thin, I'm glad you took my constructive criticism for what it is. There are too many people who take offense at it. keep up the good work. -

Bok Grilled On Gatv!
the white drew carey replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I feel comfortable in the fact that I recognize HG's actions for what they are. It all sums up to the fact that I know Robotech is shite and Macross is much, much better. Let HG play their little game all they want. There are still people who believe that Pearl Harbor was a complete surprise, or that Saddam did have WMD's, and there will always be HG employees who truly believe their product is better than the originals it is adapted from. I say "let them stew in their own folly." We all know the truth. -
Clerks Ii: The Passion Of The Clerks
the white drew carey replied to Rocket Punch's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Weeellll... I don't think of Kevin Smith as the greatest thing since the "reverse cowboy", but neither do I find him to be one of the talentless hacks that seem to get funded for big movies nowadays. Are his movies still fun? For me they are. I go to a Kevin Smith movie for the same reason I go to a Jim Carrey comedy: To Laugh. And it works, so that's good enough for me. -
Inspired by an old thread of images from the airplane graveyard at Davis-Monthan AFB, and pplaying around with Google Earth, I thought it would be cool if we had a thread for posting neato views that we've found. I'll start off with some Typhoons found on the Kola Peninsula. Not very good resolution by any means, but if you know what you're looking for, you can recognize them.

Great Naval Commanders And Notable Engagements
the white drew carey replied to kalvasflam's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
OK, given he wasn't a Great Naval Commander at the time, but what about Nimitz's commited engangement to Catherine Freeman, culminating in their uproarious marriage in 1913? -
Star Wars: Legacy

Wait a 'sec... Doesn't his ship, the "Mynock" (seriously, folks) look a lot from the top like a rusty Klingon Bird of Prey without the neck and head? -

A lot of that CGI is creepy looking.... in a bad way. I clicked on the link and that Twi-lek chick looked wrong, you know? Not to mention the fact that they used the (haha) ever popular Lens Flare Filter. Geez, even I learned not to use that damned thing anymore!!! -

No way. 389441 I allready posted earlier in this thread that an Ingram was in the pipeline. I'm down for Getter 1, 2, Eva 01, Ingram and maybe Dougram for now. I look forward to seeing what else they do, the selection is delightfully random. 389657 Oh, I do remember that, have no fear. It's just exciting to see a page online that looks vaguely official!!!
