1. I remember that! p.s.- No one's avatar actually offends me. I was just citing probable scenarios where one would. p.p.s.- While Legend of Galactic Heroes is epic in scope I, for one, found it really hard to get into. It has been a while, maybe I should give it another chance?
2. OK... if you think the swastika has to go, I think all the half-naked tits need to go. Dr Vandermeer's bloody child needs to go because showing bloody children reminds me of all the bastards who harm kids. >EXO<'s avatar should go because I find it offensive every time I see Minmay giving me the finger. NERV's avatar has to go because many people don't think something like that is remotely funny. I'm offended by Phyrox's avatar because one of my friends was beaten up once by a bunch of a$$holes in a super-redneck mobile simply because he was out skateboarding. Asking someone to change their avatar simply because most of the western hemisphere will misinterpret it is plain dumb. And I love Patlabors complete storyline, yo.
3. Your VF-X-4 line art is incorrect. The canopy on the VF-X-4 does not have the "rollbar" like the VF-1 (although the production VF-4 in Macross does).
4. There are soooo many possibilities that stem from this week's episode. The assumption you've made is the probably the one the producers want everyone to think of first, before they think about it some more and realise all of the possibilities. I have no worries.
5. Smart idea. It teases, but doesn't fulfill.
6. OK... Something Awful has been around for a loooong time. I'm sure about everyone here knows it exists and, if they think it's funny, they visit there often. I know I do. But is there really a reason to start a random thread just posting images you've found there? I've rarely, if ever, called outright for a thread to be locked. But this one should be.
7. I'm an amature artist, and when I see work like this appearing it just discourages me from entering since I know I can't beat that. It means I have to sit out another month until these OMG! arts are out of the way, only to be defeated next month by another painting by Honneamise, which I wouldn't know existed until the finals and all the 'secret entries' are in. I dunno, I like the idea of art contests, but I feel out of place because I'm not as perfect as the Pro painters/CGers here. 387695 Well, it is a fine line, but I think having secret submissions will be more beneficial. Remember, while the prize is having a link to your artwork, the actual goal is to spur more fan art. Whether you feel your good or not, most of us around here won't tell you that your work sucks. But we are in no way above creative criticism. Lord knows it's helped myself improve, and I could name a bunch of fan artists here who'd say the same. In fact, if you don't enter this month, I will disown you*. *vague threat.
8. How about, from now on, >EXO< collects the entries via PM or something. I have a strong suspicion that the two entries up so far are going to dissuade others from entering their works, simply because a lot of us know we won't be able to compete. I, for one, can't enter this month. I've got patents to work on, as well as a Wheel of Time based drawing which I've been fussing over for the past week or so (hint: Pointillism is terribly time consuming). I do, however, have some ideas floating in my head for the coming months.
9. Late '01-Early '02... I think. Before I found MW I used to post over at Starship Modeler's forums, but kind of jumped ship and came over here when I founf MW because I didn't scale model as much anymore (moving into a cramped apartment with a girl can seriously cramp that style, man). I know it was the the old forums, well before Mac0, but after alt.fan.macross.
10. You might want to blur up the ground crew. His sharpness contrasts too much with the VF.
11. One word, Gundam Sentinel OVA I wanted to see the S-Gundam in action 386112 What I can't believe is that it took so long for someone to finally mention this. Sentinel is replete with some of the best mechanical designs ever found in the Gundam universe. My main concern, though, is that they will try to update certain elements. I can see them changing the character designs into something more akin to Wing or Seed which, IMHO, blow. If they keep the story intact, keep the designs for characters, keep the mechanical design and, above all, stick to traditional animation... it will rock.
12. That's a silly thing people say sometimes to justify MacII's existence. Simply, MacII is a sequel made by BigWest without the full creative input of Studio Nue (IIRC- Only Mikimoto was involved, and that was as a character designer).
13. IIRC- Those other designs are simply lumped into the alternate universe because they aren't in the official timeline. I don't think there has actually been any indication, or attempt to state, that they are part of the MacII universe.
14. I agree with you white drew carey about this point where the variation of technology in SK's official Macross world is more believable realistic and consistent than M2 but thats in terms of 2 completely differnt things in the case of the VF designs in Macross and the avionics and weapon system technology where you have the designs of the VF-19 having variable geometry swept forward wings and having the pin-pont barrier system as an example opposed to the VF-2SS retaining much of the key components of the VF-0, and VF-1 in terms of their battroid component layout like the head below the fighter behind the cockpit and the arms tucked between the engine nacelles of the fighter and not having a pin point barrier system despite the fatc that it takes place farther in to the future and you would expect some radical form of technology in the weapons sysytems and avionics of the M2 valks. So the point is, the technological advancement and variation in both worlds are consistent according to their time periods in terms of these things that I discussed. 386004 Huh? I'm not trying to offend or start an argument, and maybe it that huuuuuge sentence ( ), but I really don't get what you're saying there.
15. OK, wait... To anyone who is foolish enough to say that the rate of development in the Macross Universe is unrealistic because of how much it varies, remember this: Overtechnology. Let me say it again: OVERTECHNOLOGY. Mankind was thrown a bone with the ASS-1. Where, beforehand, mankind had to develop technology, he now has a treasure trove dumped on his lap. That type of sudden advancement allows for different parties to veer away from the "tried and true" and use their newfound tech to venture in different directions. Meanwhile, in the MacII Universe, it's 80 years after SWI, and yet UN Spacy is only on their SECOND GENERATION VF!?!? OK, that's just really, really bad storytelling (which is actually what makes MacII bad, not the mecha). It is human nature to try to make bigger and better weapons, as fast as you can, and especially when you have a constant threat. By the time any country wheels out their next-generation fighter, you'd better bet that they're already working on the one to replace it! Personally, I find the rapid and varied technological advancement in Macross to be much more believable than the stagnation seen in MacII.
16. The problem is that all of the gaming companies are trying to make their new systems into the "Multiport" of the future, which does everything. The PSP was even worse. For the love of God, people, just give me a video games system which plays video games!
17. Of course, this is all assuming they will put the videos up on MW which, I think, they probably won't- for the same reason they don't post downloads of Macross episodes and the like.
18. Wait a sec... this is coming from the guy who devotes time to designing his own spaceships, complete with backstories, and rendering them with 3d software? No offense, Knight, because I like you (and your designs) a lot. But your attitude here is pretty condescending, when one can really say the same thing about what you do. Back to the question... Fan-fiction simply doesn't fly well because the talent to write compelling stories is fairly rare. Trying to find a Macross fan who writes well and has a thorough enough knowledge of the series to convincingly base a story within the Macross universe is a difficult prospect, at best. Simply put, good fan-fiction, just like doujinshi, is few and far between. Single page Artwork is much easier to be creative with, since the viewer only has to glance at it to decide whether or not they like it enough to take a longer look. Whereas you can put a lot of effort into fan-fiction where you have to catch a reader's interest and hold it. If it's bad, people will stop reading after the first page and the rest of the writer's work will be in vain. Plus, people are 100 times less harsh if a person's artwork isn't the best, as opposed to a bad fan-fiction, which has a tendency to be horribly ripped apart.
19. Awesome! A login page!

21. 91 Honda Civic LX 5-speed 4-door sedan. Blue. about 90,000 miles. Lotsa stickers on the back (mostly bands) and the sides are a little dinged. Ummm... what happened to the other thread? How did it "die?"
22. www.modchip.com If you have the new, slim, PS2, your best bet is to get one of the sets that just block certain holes inside the lid. You don't screw your warranty that way.
23. The Macross Compendium is your friend. Specifically, this link is exactly what you need.
