I noticed the tray to "mold the parts" was vac-formed. But the overall experience was like half-way between making Kool-Aid, and playing with Play-Doh. Turned out pretty well though, closer to how it looked on the box than I expected.

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII

Pretty sure I saw him fly an F-86 at an air show. Would have loved to see him fly a Tomcat demo. This is a good video showing off some serious dis-similar formation skills: -
Already? I didn't recall seeing a date on the trailer I just saw. Been looking forward to it since "the before times" I think.

Snake-Eyes - G.I. Joe Origins
David Hingtgen replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I enjoyed it. Basically----I honestly don't really care that it doesn't match Snake Eye's canon story. I'm a Cobra/Storm Shadow fan. This is by far the most fleshed-out live action Storm Shadow. And we had ninja fights. And The Baroness and Scarlett (disappointingly briefly for both though). I was seeking entertainment loosely based on stuff I already liked, and that was met. I wasn't looking for (nor expecting) 300 issues of the comics translated to the screen. It would have indeed been better as Storm Shadow: Cobra Origins. If you're a big "silent brooding honorable SE" fan, you might hate it. If you simply like GI Joe and/or ninjas (and your fave character is anyone other than SE), go for it. -

It's a reissue of a reissue. Probably half of them ever made are still MISB in collector's hands. It's not gonna get very rare/valuable when there's a zillion others in exactly the same condition. So of course it should be opened and enjoyed!- 17269 replies

Is there any reason the wings are so small? They really have no constraints AFAIK, they don't really have to fit inside anything. Gimme ones like this:

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII

Just unveil it already... -
I'm surprised we don't have a UCS T-70 X-Wing yet. Disney sure seems to like merchandising the orange-accented ones especially. (though I much prefer blue). Also it's been WAY too long since we got a UCS TIE of any kind.

A Discovery-version Enterprise would be very welcome.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch - Disney+

I think they assume everyone watched and paid careful attention to EVERYTHING before-hand. You miss one ep of Rebels, and a lot of this ep's story bits are lost.- 208 replies

Star Wars: The Bad Batch - Disney+
David Hingtgen replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The accent thing is very intentional with adult Hera. "Back home" (or when highly stressed with family etc) she slips back to her "native Rylothian" accent (which just so happens to sound a lot like French). But "with everyone else" she uses her "practiced/acquired neutral standard Basic accent".- 208 replies

They should have just made this "a new quest" for the Jumanji series...

I'm still annoyed there's no TV-colors MG Tallgeese. Considering the popularity of the TV-colors RG version, you'd think they'd have done it by now.

Re: MP-52's belly in fighter mode, alt-mode realism vs robot mode, etc----IMHO, it comes down to a point I made earlier: They will always side with a minor improvement in toon-accuracy, over a massive increase in alt-mode realism. What if MP-52 used the actual canopy in robot mode? (or, like some 3P versions do, use most of the canopy and a few other bits)------the jet mode would look SO much better without that whole assembly hanging beneath it, and the robot mode would only be a smidge less accurate. (and IMHO, look better for it, since it wouldn't have the bulging beer-belly curve any more). It's a MASSIVE change to the alt-mode and transformation, for the sake of a minor difference that is arguably denigrating to the character. "Gotta make sure the otherwise-trim guy has his beer-gut!"- 17269 replies

The computer and electronics super geek thread
David Hingtgen replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Amazingly, my burned HDD still works! (I didn't try it until now until I had an external adapter, to isolate it a bit from the new mobo etc in case it had developed an internal short or something) Transferred all my "important but somehow not on latest backup" files to my backup, and am now transferring simply everything onto a new SSD I picked up from BestBuy today. So it seems the 3.3v ground pins on a SATA HDD truly are pointless, as mine are all physically melted away but it spun right up the first try. Now I'm kinda wondering if I could have saved my DVD-writer. It was burned even worse so I just tossed it, but I assume it's less finicky than an HDD. -

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
David Hingtgen replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm apparently WAY behind but----Zaalbarr? WTF? I assume because tooling costs are almost nil and he's literally a repaint? Because pretty much every other party member is WAY more important and fleshed-out and deserves a 6in figure 10x more. (Now, if it was a two-pack with Mission, then it'd be good) -

Repaired (I won't call it new, or really even upgraded, even if core parts are better than they were) PC is working. Actually booted into Windows with less drama than I expected. Sadly, I either dreamed my last backup or something, as my main backup is both months older than I recall, and less complete than I recall. Original boot SSD seems fine, I was worried based on the HDD and DVD. So now my question is---that SSD is 6 years old now. Should I replace it soon, just in case? It's a Samsung Evo 850.
