  1. Hopefully there would be a way to maintain it. If its just a matter of tightening the screws, that would be easiest. I already concerned abt my valk doing the splits and the supers aren't even out yet!
  2. This is a nice effort, and simple to implement. Whether it be light or medium or heavy lining, is all a matter of individual preference. Like a work of art! Any panel lining will make the toy looks less than a toy and more of a model. Being a lazy bones when it comes to customizing, most likely mine will stay stock. However, i will really see if i can panel line one too.. ^second that! Yeah i agree with lolicon, panel lining is to bring out the tiny details for a more model-ish display value. Weathering is a separate matter to bring in realism to the toy/model. I suppose those are mutually exclusive, although some may say, you shouldn't weather without also having panel lining. But its ok to panel line and not weathered. My 2 cents. No offense given, nor taken.
  3. Would any folks foresee a 'serious' loosening of joints over time, if too wide of an A-stance is displayed? Cant imagine what the weight of the fuselage would do to; 1. rotation knee joint (at 1/48 scale, meaning top heavy). 2. ankle joint (i tend to shift the weight of the entire valk onto the back heels, since it looks more dynamic with the toes forward) I just love the A-stance on this thing, combined with the heft in the feet. Tend to leave it standing on its own...
  4. wow this thread is moving so fast... Love all the panel lined results! I had always tot the gunpod had upside down UNspacy from even back in the day when macross came out. Never knew it was in contention... As for the arms tendency to pop out of the tabs sometimes, i posted that i found adjusting the arms along the slider rails, helps to keep the arms locked into the tabs. So far its still aligned after i adjusted it. yeah i noticed he mentions it most of the times, when someone asks him abt the beginnings of macross and how he designed the valks. Still nice to hear
  5. Am quite ok with the bare metal gears actually. I like the industrial look of it.. but who knows I might consider it if more folks paint their gear and put it up for show...just a matter of taste... oh yeah but what color would one be painting the gears on the DX? Since it is TV grey, white landing gears might seem out of place?
  6. Not for the first valk at least! Who knows after the vf-1, there might have been some influence from birds in flight! For example I always tot that the high speed fighter mode of the yf-19 resembles a dive bombing kingfisher or osprey... Only four?
  7. Skiing is the normal gerwalk with arms deployed, yes. My speed skating reference was to armless gerwalk mode..hahah... but one things for sure, certainly reflects Kawamori-san’s thinking at the time he developed the inverted knee joint that he was thinking abt skiers bending the knees .. Next Valkyrie prototype! Valks with vector nozzles that can also grab things! Wow that would be interesting!! Imagine dive-bombing from top to fighter beneath you and shredding your enemy with your valk claws!! Do it Kawamori-San!!!! wait, sounds like something the sv-51 valk could have done??
  8. Well i checked back in the Sv51 thread, first announced in Feb '17! Updated with pics July 18!... We are already near the 2-year mark since the SV-51 was announced... so arcadia "should" have a pretty well mocked up SV by wonderfest...
  9. perhaps true...after all he needs the arms of battroid but the speed of a fighter! too mind boggling! So that's what you get when you pull all BGF levers.... p.s. There are also 5 other variants i.e. I have tuesdays till saturdays. The sunday version will be an online exclusive.
  10. I moved the DX into the main room just to see what it would look like. And wow, its certainly fits the bill as a centerpiece, with it being on the exclusive stand, really eye catching!
  11. Ah thats very clever...unfolding backpack or not eh....i had always tot with the arms tucked in the backpack would also unfold... 3 modes with gerwalk it is! we been doing it wrong getting just 3 copies! LOLs on the part of the way lever comment! Hmm good thing i ordered 2 then, cos 2 fits in just nicely in the ami box!
  12. Hopefully arcadia will commit to a release date and pricing on the sv-51, in time for next month's winter wonderfest! Any mid-year release would make it abt a year and a half since news abt it passed? Sounds ripe for an announcement at the festival...
  13. echoing spacemanoeuvres!..those rear landing gears are meant to be pushed outwards to the side... other than that epic ride for spidey...
  14. Plus gerwalk has a 2 modes in one! Normal gerwalk or armless gerwalk mode which reminds me of speed skating!! bwahaha.. makes sense since you want to go aerodynamic, from hovering state to speed, whilst maintaining the flexibility of stopping on a whim.... i wonder which lever in the controls retracts the arms tho...hmmm...
  15. Ditto...the world has more than enough politics to sustain itself...not getting political in here...
  16. Hahaha just saw this...so accurate..thats not how the falcon lands! psssh pssh...does your wife also like toys... Also, thats a nice display cabinet! ....Awesome!
  17. Hehe i just posted a pic in the DX thread with the gears down! Those yammie clear stands look cool. Bandai's stand were a throwback to NASA's/USAF(?) flight displays with the arching arm.... And as always yeti's stand are the standard for macross valks!
  18. Take off!
  19. Are you trying to make boxes look sexy now? Mission accomplished! Wish had a nice big lighted hanger like that... its ok ... sometimes better not to draw to much attention to my toys in the household to avoid unnecessary questions...if you know what i mean...
  20. And on the arm tabs front i went from this... to this.... to finally this.. Initially i thought it was the way the arms leaned inwards or outwards that could be the cause of the fit to the tabs hanging downwards from the fuselage. That worked somewhat, but also gave gaps in between the arms. Had tot that the gunpod would counteract this somehow, but it didn't. I then worked the arms from the front. And due to the sliding mechanism, the arms were pushed backwards. (All this while i had already secured my gunpod) So it occurred to me perhaps the tabs weren't biting, not because of the arm rotation but because of the exact positioning of the tab holes on the arms with reference to the tabs hanging down. so i tried to get the arms tabbed as before, but as a final act, adjusted the position of the arms on the slider, and lo and behold, it held like the final picture with no gaps or sagging! Am not sure if this solves the annoyance, and also i don't know how long it will hold. Although leaving it alone now, after swooshing it mildy ..it seems ok! Long term though, perhaps coating the tabs will help it stay tighter...cant imagine what time will affect it since its basically a vertical tab fighting gravity....
  21. Probably be down to the toothpaste trick again to get rid of seam lines in clear canopies....but gee whiz...i dont have the time to do any of that...
  22. haha couldnt resist this ...just for today... keep on posting noel!
  23. that made me chuckle... yes! but am learning to tune it out!
