The suit is dark charcol grey-ish color with the cape, cowl, boots and gloves a dark-blue/almost black color. The belt will have compartments for tools and will be a dark yellow color. (Pic courtesy of DC Comics) As for the continuity, I don't think it's going to be a problem. Batman Begins is really suppose to restart the movie franchise. And their going back to the early days of Batman's career. If Michael Caine is Alfred, that's a much younger looking Alfred than the Michael Gough version. And Gary Oldman as younger Lt. James Gordon. I'm more interested in the costume designs, the Batmobile (which is suppose to have a big chase scene in the movie) and such.

Fan-custom? Can't really call it a fan-custom since Kawamori drew it. If you have to hang it anywhere on your pic board, hang it with the VF-EX stuff. Although, considering that the VF-0 uses lots of fuel, the drop tanks aren't a bad add-on. edit: So Egan, can we consider this something similar to the Mobile Suit Variations (MSV) from the Gundam designers?

Privileges of rank....But there were instances of officers carrying Garands instead of a M1 carbine or a M1 Thompson. But that was to fill the ranks of the squad. Officers didn't need to be in the line-of-fire all the time so they didn't need to lug around the 4 kg Garand. Same with the heavy equipment troops. A Garand is way too much to carry so they would take a M1 Carbine. In some cases, your machine gun may be too much to move around (takes 2 guys to move it) so you may designate someone in the squad to carry a SMG and it doesn't have to be an officer. It could be a Sgt. or someone else. But keep in mind that a Garand and a M1 Thompson weigh about the same. And if you're going on a mission where walking is involved, it might be better to take a Garand where you're carrying 80-128 rounds over 200-300 rounds for the SMG.

Were they mechanical or program problems that caused the malfucntions? All they could figure out was, after the main guns fired, the ship turned into a engineering mess. We really don't know what that SA trojan program did because everything happened after the main guns fired. It's also coincidental that these systems are linked so again, what was the cause (main guns connect to the fold drive which connects to main power, without the fold drive, they couldn't fire the main guns, hence the need to transform to connect the guns to main power)? Once you get past the main guns firing, it can go lead to both mechanical or program failure. All the problems go back to the main guns.

But something had to have been there in order for the main guns to fire. My guess is that a program still existed in Macross that they overlooked. But that still goes back to me saying we don't know. Everything happened after the fact. As far as they knew, everything was peachy and ready to go for actual testing. Who would know that the main guns would fire automatically, then have your grav generators rip themselves out of the hull, then have your fold drive act funny and ditch you around Pluto all in a day? Something must have set off the chain of events.

But that's armor. What they want to know what it's actually made of...

It's an ambiguous phrase (computers didn't exactly have the amount of attention in 1980 as they do now...) since it could me circuit board or software. But in either case, a program had to have interpretted the sensor readings as hostile and such, overrided a manual overide. So there has to have been some software running.

Actually, Keith is correct, to a point. Inexperience did play a role as they had no idea what would happen. Claudia even expressed her doubts about folding so close to to the ground. Global opted to go for it anyways. In "Global's Report", Global states that the SA's old software caused ship-wide malfunctions. And since the fold drive went missing afterwards, the answer is unclear. As we saw later, the energy field generated by folding is practically skin tight. Now if Macross's fold drive is suppose to act like that, why did it create a huge field where as in M7, the fleet folds from Rax and doesn't bring the lake they were in or when folding to Varuata in episode 48, why did the fighters have to land on M7, then fold, then launch again? Or better yet, why do fighters/vessels have individual fold boosters/drives? Why do they not have 1 fold drive generate the field to encompass all vessels in the group? The unfortunate answer is, we don't have the original Macross fold drive to run another test on. Keith may not be right, but he's not entirely wrong. But this is something for another thread.

No. The VF-1X also has the same. So do the VF-1A Block 12 designs. However, for it's time, the VF-1S (circa 2009) was an improvement compared the the 1As and 1Js. However, that would not be so afterwards.

Just cuz you don't see them carry any doesn't mean they can't. But one must remember, the VEFR-1 and VE-1 are not gunships. Their role is recon and electronic warfare. If they are fired upon, they get the hell outta Dodge. Their purpose is not getting into a gun battle. In fact, they stay as far away as they can.

They were their own flight group. After Hikaru permanently became Skull Squadron's commander, Max and Millia were given their own group within Skull squadron. In fact, Max was given his own group before the end of SWI. It was just a formality to get his 1A upgraded to a 1J.

Concerning Super and Strike variants. Both refer to the FAST pack types. Super uses 2 HMMP-02 mini-missile launchers where as Strike uses 1 HMMP-02 missile launcher and 1 Mauler RO-X2A high-powered double-action beam cannon. No where does it say that Strike is a squadron leader option.
