  1. That's probably what the reason behind it becoming part of the fanchise (can't recall off hand). Anyways.... It was an F-14....... Well as Chief Nakajima said, it''s love.
  2. Various spots. Can't remember where. I think Egan mentioned it once at a con, it was mentioned in a book, but I can't recall. The concept of M+ itself wasn't suppose to be part of the Macross franchise (this was in the planning stages of M+ ; pre-pre-pre-pre-production so it wasn't a last minute thing). The story concept, IIRC, was the same, 2 pilots, a girl, 2 prototype fighters, etc, etc, etc. Then Kawamori changed his mind (probably since it was the 10th anniversary of Macross) and made it part of the Macross franchise.
  3. Good point. However, given the scope of what Macross Plus was originally (Remember, it wasn't suppose to be part of Macross originally) I won't read into M+ that much. But then again, I don't see AFOS really testing humanity as much as I see it teaching humanity it's final lesson. In addition, Claudia doesn't really give us dates. We are working off visual cues in the scene. In the original SDFM, the ranks of UN were wearing those funny uniforms, yet when we go to M0, Roy, Shin, Edgar, and all those pilots were wearing flight suits from our time.
  4. Please see the entry for the VF-0. http://www.anime.net/macross/mecha/united_.../vf0/index.html There are 2-seat versions for the VF-0A, which is what the VF-0B from Hasagawa is (until otherwise noted). Read: http://www.anime.net/macross/mecha/united_.../vf0/index.html VF-17D is not a 2-seater.
  5. 2) The Varauta system is in the vicinity of the "center of the galaxy". It is also the area where Megaroad-01 is believed to have disappeared. But considering that the "center of the galaxy" is a huge area to cover and is vastly unexplored by humans, they could be anywhere or not even there.
  6. Well, now that a subbed version is out (and one I can 90% agree with), A1's comments pretty much nailed it. Protoculture left AFOS as the final lesson. Protoculture made its mistakes when it created the Zentradi/Meltrandi, and eventually the beings that would become the Protodevlin. The "lesson" from AFOS could be what was suppose to have been passed on the the Zentradi and later, the Protodevlin. But since Protoculture was being wiped out, they couldn't teach that lesson to their creations, so that responsiblity fell on humanity's shoulders. If you look at it this way, Zero does an excellent job of bridging SDFM/DYRL? and 7 together (Plus is the oddball, considering it doesn't add to the Macross story). It would be humanity's responsibility to "correct the mistakes" of Protoculture (i.e. the Zentradi and Protodevlin). There was no conflict. Roy met Aries in college. He ran off to fight. She stayed behind. Roy then met Claudia. When they were seperated, you could say Aries got her second chance. When she died, she gave Roy a lesson. When Roy was reunited with Claudia, Roy got his second chance, and this time he choose to stay.
  7. I know Graham or Nanashi have presented that design. It was from a magazine and it's not a fan-made pic. It was done by Kawamori as part of his VF-EX or one of his VF variation columns (think MSV, only for VFs).
  8. Yes, he can turn his neck. That's why the cowl is seperate from the rest of the suit (even the cape). They really wanted Bale to be able to turn his neck in that suit.
  9. I said it once, and I'll say it again. Meh.
  10. The Lt. would outrank the 2 Sgts (remember, the 2 Sgts are NCOs). Even if the Sgts have much more experienced, an officers' authority still outweighs a NCO. The majority of flight groups are made up of officers (I'm not sure about having a NCO fly one of those things, yet in times of need, yes, you should have NCOs flying, like in SDFM). Unless of course those 2 Sgts aren't under the authority of the Lt....
  11. No matter what angle they show that cowl at...I still have issues with it. Just the cowl and not the rest of the suit.
  12. Most ramblings I've heard were that we probably would not see Buster or Duel. Since the Zakus are much more capable than those 2, they really aren't much of a match. Duel was a pretty standard MS (just a concept). The only things going for it was PS-armor and beam weapons. PS-armor is too costly and too much of a drain on the battery to place in mass-production models (read, impractical for any mass-produced MS). And beam weapons are standard on the Zaku (standard beam rifle and beam axe). Buster was designed for long-range combat. Well, the "Gunner" attachment to the Zaku fills that role of long-range combat. Plus it has the beam rifle and beam axe. For the Zaku Phantom, the "Slash" and "Blaze" attachments fulfill any need for additional weapons. The Zaku Warrior/Phantom covers most of the duties that Duel and Buster were designed except for the PS-armor, so the question is, is there really any need for Duel or Buster to show up since the Zakus fill the roles they had thanks to the various weapons packs avaliable for it? I doubt we'll see a huge improvement to Archangel. She was a fairly advanced ship for her time.
  13. Nope. I don't even know Japan's reaction to Innocence or Steamboy. Let's face it, we're all subculture Otakus here, no-one has even heard of Macross... Actually, I'm gonna look into subculture and cult stuff in the next few months in detail, so I'll let you know then. I will say that I was lucky to rent the DVD when I did because it is constantly on rental now, along with Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop (even six years after release!!). So this is an interesting phenomenon nonetheless. According to Oricon's daily rankings, Episode 5 was #4 on the initial release date (remember, it's based on sales/rentals/money/etc) for animation releases. Gundam Seed and Ghost in the Shell TV 2nd season were ahead. It has since fallen to 7th behind Alladin and the previously mentioned GitS TV 2nd season and Gundam Seed.
  14. Anybody wanna bet the Zeta boxsets where on the floor of the warehouse when the place flooded?
  15. We know. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=11517 http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...afp/japan_quake If you want to watch all 11m:37s of what did air, be my guest.
  16. You should go out and get the Macross Design Works book. It will explain a majority of your questions. 1) They're there. Look harder (i.e. see attachment) 2) My guess? Venier thrusters. Who knows? Who cares. 3) This is answered in the Macross Design Works book. The YF-21 does not need the FAST packs to hold the gun pods. The underside does have mounts for holding the gunpods without the use of the FAST packs. However, during most of M+, you see the YF-21 with the mounts closed and without the gunpods. As Shawn says here: "You WANT this book-really!" http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/...esign_works.htm
  17. Nanashi... You misspelled AFOS (You used Aphos). http://www.anime.net/macross/story/encyclo...afos/index.html
  18. The only gripe I have with it right now is that it felt rushed. When you think about it, the timespan of the series felt short. The last 3 episodes took place across 2-3 days, max. That just didn't feel right. But I'll look it over again once a sub comes out (sorry, I really want to know what Hasford and AFOS were saying to Sara).
  19. Not quite. The system works by recharging the battery via network. They still have a battery as a primary system. The idea is that the MS no longer needs to return to port to recharge it's battery reactor. So if you turn off the power network, it doesn't kill the power like Nadesico. It just means that the MS has to return to port to recharge the battery. edit: Think of an MS as fighter. A fighter runs on limited fuel. However, it can receive a refuel mid-flight via a refuelling plane. That's what the recharging system is on the Minerva. It just recharges (refuels) the MS in mid-flight.
  20. Hasagawa made it as a custom (kinda like the Low-Viz Yamato VF-1). The VF-0B is suppose to be the VF-0A 2-seater (Hasagawa just called it the VF-0B to distinguish it from the A, S, and D models). Hasagawa has indeed made the VF-0B You can find it here: http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?HSG65770
  21. It was not a Protodevlin. It was more of a device (weapon/guardian/failsafe device/etc). Sara was the "pilot" of AFOS. It reacted to her feelings.
  22. Yes, Mu's helmet was removed (I've seen screenshots) and we get to see Creuset's face (Looks like Rey, only older). http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=22554
  23. Aries dies from blood lost and probably internal bleeding. She received those injuries when she protected Dr. Hassford from falling debris. As for a synopsis, I'll wait for a sub to come. There is some dialogue which I can't really make out, but it's all to make Sara use AFOS.
  24. I second that opinion. Somebody explain how this happens. I'm guessing it's the working of the Birdhuman or Sara or Mao. Actually it's a little from A, a little from B and a little of C. (Yes I have watched it, no drugs or alcohol were taken)
  25. Kawamori is not one for making his characters develop overnight. Usually, the epiphany comes at the very end of the series. But hey, M0 is short. 5 30-minute episodes can't cover much ground. Not like a 13/26/50+ episode series.
