    Macross figures

And thanks to borgified's gracious heads-up (and Mandarake's prompt service), they're here already! The secret* figure of the set is an Ishtar in civilian garb. *Not much of a secret, I know.
  2. I fell in love with the original Transformers cartoon as a kid, but always hated the toys for how poorly they represented the onscreen characters. Scale, proportion, articulation, likeness -- they failed every criteria I had for action figures and character merchandise alike. With historical perspective, I realize this was entirely Sunbow's fault (talk about false advertising!), but I still don't see the appeal of G1 reissues. Masterpiece, on the other hand...
  3. Nice, but I'm sure it wasn't as "supercheap" as it claims to be... I finally found the perfect skateboard for Revoltech Mikey!
  4. A lot of mine have to be displayed with landing gear deployed; it's a simple matter of real estate. They take up more shelf space in fighter mode, but the ones in front have to be in fighter for the battroids at the back to be visible. I wouldn't know how else to make it work.

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

I get multiple shipments from Amazon.jp every week, and they're always shrink-wrapped to a cardboard spacer glued to the bottom of the box. That wasn't a fellow fan, that's just how they ship everything. That bar code sticker on the YF-19 box is a dead giveaway.
  6. That would make it about... 1:350 scale? Even among Southern Cross fans, I can't see this selling enough to justify your time... but if it's something you enjoy doing, that's the most important thing.
  7. You must not have seen any of the "daimakura" pillows:
  8. Oh, I ran out of room long ago. Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a properly-scaled Sky-Lynx if they made one, though! Yeah, the Reformatted line has always been aimed at CHUG collectors, since they don't suit the style or the scale of Masterpiece figures. Fair enough. Much of the season 3 cast doesn't appear on any existing scale charts, so conjecture based on individual episodes is all we have... and at least The Return of Optimus Prime wasn't animated by AKOM.
  9. MMC's Sky-Lynx looks promising, but it's most definitely not Masterpiece-scaled. Okay, I admit I've been steadily losing interest in Transformers over the past couple years, but I was deeply into the third-party scene back when "Hoodlum" was announced... like, three years ago. Are you seriously telling me it's STILL not out? Nor is XTB's "Virtus," or MMC's "Saltus" (both announced back in 2016)? Sheesh. Somebody wake me when Zeta finally finishes their Bruticus.
  10. Yes, they do. The issue is explored in Star Wars: Bloodline, which (despite the title) is mostly a political allegory about Leia trying to hold the New Republic together. According to the novel, a significant number of member worlds would've actively supported a military dictatorship like the First Order... and several do, in secret (particularly politicians who had benefitted from Palpatine's reign). It's the most deathly boring thing to ever carry the Star Wars name, but it's a lot more plausible than anything that happens in the new trilogy.
  11. Well, I'm not entirely sold on "Koot" -- like you, I'm wary of FansToys products these days -- but "Jabber" looks a whole lot better than "Buzzing" does. Thankfully, we already have a definitive Masterpiece Wreck-Gar with KFC's "Crash Hog." The design, the engineering, the die-cast heft, the quality of the paint... I couldn't believe what KFC was capable of! Honestly, TakaraTomy couldn't possibly do any better.
  12. It's a current trend in action figure marketing. Mego's "Classic 8 Inch Figure" line and Super7's "ReAction" figures are freakin' horrible BY DESIGN. It's supposed to appeal to older collectors who fondly remember the aesthetics of late '70s toy production... and presumably, it's a lot cheaper and easier than getting decent sculpts, accurate proportions, or likeness rights. Have you seen ReAction's Robotech line?
  13. The rest of the names are correct. I'd use "Kujou" rather than "Kujyou," but it's not wrong. [ . . . ] Man, what a compendium of godawful anime names. It's as bad as Gundam!
  14. I suppose "Aimee," "Eimee," or even "Eimii" is also possible... but "Amie" is definitely wrong. It doesn't correspond to Japanese or English spelling conventions. Looks like an easy fix, though. Just print a new sticker. But what spelling would be most appropriate? Traditional Western European (Amy Locke)? Fashionably North American (Aimee Rock)? Nihon-shiki Romanji (Eimii Rokku)?
  15. Upcoming action figures displayed at NYCC. They're only 5POA, but at least they come with removable helmets...

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

  17. Hmm... I would've thought most of us got the 1/55 Valks first, then got the 1/60, then got the 1/48, then got the 1/60 v.2, then got the HMRs later on. But maybe most of us aren't as old as I am...
  18. Damn, CM's got so close... ...but the lack of Jim "Lunk" Cooper and Ariel/"Marlene"/Aisha still hurts.

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

Your experience has led others to unscrew those tight hip joints before attempting transformation, so I think you've probably saved several figures from similar damage. We're all a lot wiser, thanks to you. Didn't know Bandai had a "repair center."

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

I agree. The YF-29 is superior to any Valkyrie designed since. Of course, it can't hold a candle to the YF-19.
