  1. ... Gonna need one of those too... any data on when either of these will be coming out? or are we all just going to have to salivate until more news?
  2. Whelp... gonna need 10 of those... hope they're not TOO pricey
  3. Perhaps it's a purpose-built VE training bird? The Ostrich is the same air-frame [which is markedly different from the VF-1's] as the VE, same fastpacks/leg armour... they may only have had 1 or 2 Ostriches aboard just so crews could train-up/Qualify on the VE without potentially pranging a very valuable/expensive ELINTSEEKER in a training accident... Or maybe they just built a block of VE/VT Airframes all to the same spec, and because they happened to be two-seaters, UNSpacy decided to use it since it was already there. Regardless, you're correct; it is a pretty design, and the trainer designation is... unbecoming of it's lines. I really like this low-er-vis scheme[not my work]
  4. Pilots with poses? THUMBS UP and SALUTES?! I'm in!! I'd like both DYRL and SDFM if that's the plan, but I'll probably pick up a couple sets of whatever gets made. good 1/72 pilots/ground-crew MADE for Macross?
  5. the only way you can be hidden in space combat is to be at 100% EM emissions control... I always wondered about the wisdom of sending an AWACS anywhere near a space battle when it couldn't defend itself... now that I've read your post the ELINTSEEKER nomenclature makes A LOT of sense... it passively monitors it's assigned area, intercepting comms/radar and other EM emissions from EVERYONE ELSE to build an image from a more front-line position than the SDF-1 wants to get... Kind of analogous to a passive SONAR picket, only listening for EM instead of sound... neat idea... Sub-Surface warfare tactics applied to space...
  6. Very nice! I'm loving that Reloader and ammo-belt as well. did it come from a kit? or did you scratch it? USAF Thunderbirds #5 is lead solo, and in this pic you can see his #5 [it's on the intake] is right-side up during the "Calypso Pass"
  7. me too, but I managed to grab one of the last from Starship Modeler
  8. Clear styrene is simply more brittle as a rule; the above is good advice, particularly if you're trying to keep it clear. all the other issues with it kinda fall away if you're painting it. I'm looking at the clear NCC-1701D on my shelf with a certain level of dread...
  9. right, I forgot they were separate squads...
  10. don't forget Amazon. I'm in Canada and Amazon is consistently cheaper [for me] when it comes to the limited-run kits.
  11. well, Zaku's put the Pilot off-center at least... some Zeon/Neo-Zeon suits place the Pilot in the head or neck... but then there's not a lot to be done against weaponry of the magnitude they carry. Beam sabers laugh at "armour" One would think the Thermonuclear reactor/Minnovski Generator you're sitting on/beside/in front of would be the most heavily armoured part... and MS's go Fissile like nobody's business... in an MS V MS fight, a suit is just as killable as a human in a fistfight. and as covered in Thunderbolt: space cares not how much armour you have, space debris will kill you as sure as a missile... might as well SEE it coming... being a smaller/more mobile target is your only defense in such a combat environment. That how Char survives so well... his suits are all 3X as fast as his wingmen! lol and putting the Pilot in the chest is doubly not smart, because there is a 0.00% chance to see ANYTHING if your cameras are damaged, and in the suits I'm familiar with, most of the [suit-mounted] cameras/sensors are in the head. ... what is it about the VF-17 and VF-171 that they always come off as makeshift... even in Macross7 when Gamlin's squad transferred up to the VF-19F/S nobody took over flying their VF-17s, they just got stuffed in a hangar or recycled to build more VF-11C's lol but we're Digressing from the Original topic. I think we can all agree that when you mix Lasers/Missiles/Cannons and Nuclear-powered weapons platforms somebody's gonna get hurt, real bad.
  12. Granted. But the Weapon System in question are Funnels*... you think "Destroy that target" and they go do it, mercilessly. also, there's a specific clip of the Vajra continually hammering a damaged VF-171 [in N.U.N.S. CF scheme] in Macross Frontier I could cite that gives the exact same vibe. as far as a killshot after the MS was disabled... I'd rather be shot than left to asphyxiate slowly when my Nomral-suit runs out of O2... and in the .gif above, there IS no cockpit killshot, just alot of shots post total amputation, then it explodes. *[ESP Controlled Semi-Autonomous Laser Cannon Swarm]
  13. No. Dignified deaths [if any death can be called dignified] do not occur in or as a result of combat. I've always applauded Gundam [the U.C. timeline anyway, haven't watched much else] for attempting to balance out the "Cool Mecha/laser-fight" with "Mecha/laser-fight = people dying."
  14. well... bright side: you don't have to scratch a 1/72 Minmay... Will you finish it in a different scheme now?
  15. I'm hoping the White comes out near to the kind of white I would need for Valkyries.. would make everything simplecomes in White, Black, Grey, Olive Green, Yellow, and Metal-primer Red and is quite easy to use. I tried some of the grey through my Infinity CR+ this weekend, and even though it's thick stuff [don't thin it, spray it neat] it sprayed no trouble through the 0.2mm needle setup. apply as you would any other acrylic paint product. Sands well too. I was looking for an excuse to do an Alaska Base scheme... that's a great idea! no worries! Nice spot on the Red lines being on EACH wing too. the more I look at the Cavaliers the more I want to do one, it really is a nice scheme, and a great departure from UN Spacy standard... I'll add another to the list
  16. In the Masterfile with the Supers on the cover, top of page 122, listed as SVF-26. The line art in the book is different than the the Yamato and Macross Manual interpretations: it has a grey colour on the legs, not as blue as yamato went, but the side-view shows it doesn't extend down the side of the leg [as the white on Max/Kakizaki's VF-1A's do], but the top-view suggests that the grey DOES follow the outer contour around the leg/engine] also has a grey canopy frame/anti-glare panel like the Yamato, only Much darker. matches the Intake cover colour in the masterfile pic. The upper intakes/vents are a light tan-grey, Mr. Colour 39 or 44 look very close on my laptop screen. the Masterfile also shows the outer leading edge of the intakes as white, which I don't like, but it does break up the scheme a little. Lastly the Engine exhausts are the same as on all the other valks, not grey matching the leg colour.
  17. yes, it's evident when Luca get's "swallowed" by the Vajra-BB. Alto uses it to try to shoot their way out, then Brera blows it out of the RVF's hand. Luca's RVF-25 is usually shot from above to emphasize the Radar/Sensor suite, but it rocks the gunpod for self-defense as standard.
  18. i was hoping it would be around a little longer, but thanks for that link. just picked one up.
  19. If you're willing to scratch-build there are things others have done to make working [positionable] canopies with the Hasegawa kits and the VF-25 series from Hasegawa give you the optional doors to make modeling them closed easier, which is a welcome touch as I do most of my Aircraft/sci-fi-fighter models gear-up.
  20. Depends. as long as you're not recreating Isamu's VF-11 crash you'll be fine I'm building a few of mine mounted on sticks specifically for "Zooming about the room". at least a VF-0,an SV-51 and a VF-1 for the macross stuff, and I'll have to do some Migs and NATO fighters too

    Flying Roy

so even a Super-Deformed VF-1 is flyable?? that settles it! when world conquest has been achieved, I'm hiring Shōji Kawamori to design my air force, and I don't care if I have to develop "Reaction-Trubofans" to power them either! super cool rc build. I think I'd prefer an if had my 'druthers
  22. 248001 1/48 YF-19 X3 248002 1/48 VF-1A/J X6 248003 1/48 VF-1S/A X4 248004 1/48 VF-1 Intake cover X6 272001 1/72 VF-25 Series X10 272002 1/72 YF/VF-19 Series X6 272003 1/72 VF-1 Cockpit X10 272004 1/72 VF-1 Intake/Nozzle X6 272005 1/72 VF-11 Thunderbolt X3 There's my Jasmine PE Wishlist I'll commit to it all, but not all at once.

    VF-1 Riders

The more I see your VF-25+Tornado, the more I'm tempted to Pick the two kits up and try the 'bash myself... it gives the '25 the presence the SV-51's have; Big, Powerful and Dangerous...
