I agree. Also, the artwork on the leg looked much better on the original custom. It was more interesting than the big text on the Yamato release

I'm starting to think there never was any green but, rather, a gray that appears greenish under certain lighting conditions. At least, that's what I'm hoping I really wish they had released a VF-1 repaint that more fit this new color scheme. However, the more pictures I see, the better it's starting to look on the Hikaru 1J

That's really good. I love the coloring you did, looks real nice. I also especially enjoyed seeing all of the line art. I have not seen most of that since I don't have any of the art books. Again, good job.

I WANTED to pass it up, but my nostalgic love for Soundwave would not allow me to. Alas, my preorder was placed weeks ago. I did, however, pass on all the previous reissues except Prime. As a child, it simply didn't get any cooler than Soundwave or Optimus Prime. Most of the other G1 TF's look pretty crummy to my adult eyes, but these stand the test of time (most likely due to the afore mentioned nostalgia)

But those colors (Creme/Beige, Black, and Red) are the colors of this individual VF. I think you're trying to read too much into this. The box just uses the main colors of the toy, just like all of their (Yamato) recent releases which use this type of box design.

So you're saying he should by a new DVD player and learn Japanese if he wishes to enjoy Macross? Are you serious? Because you had the interest/time/commitment to learn a second language, you think we all should? Please realize that comes off a bit elitist/arrogant.

I don't understand why everyone thinks the the VF-1S from the TV series is supposed to be gray. I know Taka/Bandai release two VF-1S's back in the day, one gray and one white, but that doesn't make it canon right? I might be wrong, but I just watched the TV series recently and it (the VF-1S) looks pretty white to me.

I was actually thinking it looked Enigma-ish. I'm now of the opinion that Yamato won't be releasing a new VF-1 for this GBP though. For one, it makes no sense to reveal the armor before the valk that it is designed for. Second, the original fan-made custom was also mounted on a Hikaru 1J. It doesn't mean Yamato won't or can't design a valk to accompany this armor, I just doubt they will.

Does Yamato at least give credit to the original artist when they do these fan-creation-to-mass-market releases? Just curious. Since I don't read/speak Japanese, I wouldn't know if they do or don't. Also, since the fan version and the Yamato version are both shown with a standard Hikaru 1J, I'm guessing we won't be getting a new valk to go with this armor?

I, too, am hoping for a new VF-1S. However, I'm actually hoping for one that is non-canon and matches this new GBP. I wonder how the Stealth 1J would look in this armor...

This is a weird release. While I like the color scheme, I can't think of any of the existing valks that this will look good on except maybe the Low Vis I which I don't have. It doesn't look very good on that Hikaru 1J (IMHO). Perhaps another non-canon valk is on its way, but wouldn't they release the valk before the armor or at least at the same time? Yamato really has me scratching my head on this one.

What's blurred out in the bottom left? Anyone got a clue? Might not be a Macross toy, but I'm curious
