1/55 Hi-Metal VE-1 Elintseeker 1/55 Hi-Metal VT-1 Super Ostrich 1/55 Hi-Metal VF-1S Strike Valkyrie (Hikaru and a new Roy) DYRL 30th Anniversary re-releases!!!
-
Although both are fancels....I thought the artist really did a great job at capturing the "look" of the character art-style for Sharon as seen in Macross Plus....
-
yep.....limitations probably due to the scale and/or design of the figurine/cockpit area....I'm sure some enterprising fellow (cough, cough...EXO) on this board could design a nicer proportioned set of 1/60 scale pilots in a slew of poses....and not just for both of the the VF-1 types
-
Guess they were trying to place the hands in a position relative to the flight controls of the DYRL VF-1 cockpit..... Which is different from the VF-1 cockpit from the TV series....which explains the TV version pilot figurine....
-
On the bright side, I guess you can never loose parts and know precisely where they are at at all times!
-
Really wish they would approach Arcadia again and instead release exclusive Macross accessories for the 1/60 line....flight deck crews and accessories, different pose pilot figures, exclusive PT valks, destroids, enemy craft....hangar pieces to complete a nice hangar for 1/60 valks......anything but what they currently seem to have in mind.....

Nah...if it's something people want and the demand is strong enough....things come back...either via a re-issue...or in the case of Yamato/Arcadia....new versions that are superior to anything that ever existed before.....if 30 years from now you are still craving for a Yamato or Arcadia version 2.0....it'll be solely based on nostalgia...because by then a vastly superior, self-transforming version 5+ will already be on the market.... Just ask anyone who ever wanted a Takatoku VF-1 that could not afford it back in the 80/90's and thought it'd never be re-issued.......ever....
-
Arcadia's marketing guys are brilliant....they can satisfy the bright white purists now....and the "off white" fanatics down the road.... Just like Bandai!
-
the VF-17S is one of the few Yamato toys I actually have out on display....it looks brutish next to just about any other VF....

Thanks, good to know I don't have to hunt down any more show/movie music. Will track down the M7 albums, even though I do have a couple Macross Plus CDs. Thanks again!

What I took from the VF-1J 30th Anniversario edition was the possibility and perhaps a fool's hope of future Hasegawa collaborations.......Black Aces....'nuff said.... Although "the fans" may not like it.....both the TV and DYRL Vf-1's are the same white...bright white...it is what it is.....love it or hate it....buy it or let it bake on the shelves..... Per Macross Mecha Manual: VF-1S TV: VF-1S DYRL: Mr. March puts a lot of effort into his site...I do not think he would get something basic like "base" coloring wrong.... Maybe Big West finally put their foot down on the deviation Yamato artificially created between the two series...who knows.... Instead of Arcadia "guessing" what VF's fans want....why not produce them based on fan's choice voting......and perhaps take non-refundable deposits up front to seal the deal.... Extras with each release would be appreciated....flight crews and accessories...sure...all welcomed...although we have plenty of talent on this board to make it almost a non-issue......we've all seen your fantastic custom ordered displays....but yeah, display sets, hangars, etc and accessories for the masses would be welcomed....they could even make them online exclusives like Yamato has done with other accessories in the past.... Yes, we are a picky bunch....but we are also loyal and will support quality products done right and with respect to the original source and their creators original interpretations...unless given the license to deviate, of course, as we have seen before.....
-
But weren't they white in the film? Pay no attention to these cels that show the VF-1S Fokker as more "greyish"...and Max's as "yamato off-whiteish".... ...or was that bright white? .....maybe Yamato knows that die-hard collectors will re-buy them all in the "corrected" bright white schemes....and this is just a test to see whether or not collectors would be willing to plunk down their cash for a VF-1 3.0 regardless of how much they've invested in the 2.0.....

OK...so who here placed a bid?

Dang! There's probably enough new Tenjin art to fill a new Valkyries book pretty soon....
-
A clean box design has been done before by Yamato.... .....I guess Arcadia must have retained Yamato's packaging graphics designer....who insists on photoshopping pics of the actual toys on the boxes..... ...but, agreed, it is better than Yamato's standard fare.....however, as a high-end collectible....I would prefer more effort on the packaging artwork.......maybe if I had not grown up with the old Takatoku and Bandai boxart packaging, I would not care so much.... Maybe something a bit more impressive can be reserved by Arcadia for the more expensive releases like the upcoming YF-19....
-
It's probably too late for the Hikaru, but if they simply eliminated the cheesy "pic of actual toy inside!" from the cover...it would be pretty clean and classy.....sort of like a vintage HCM box....pics of the toy would work on the back or sides of the box...
-
Was thinking the same thing....think there are some VF-19's with wings swept back on the carrier deck pictured in this tenjin illustration....
-
Was hoping the base would not be clear...it is built with a storage compartment no?...would have been nicer not to see the accessories in storage I think...still....the best PT and correct white DYRL VF-1S ever made!
