  1. Definitely going to see about ripping some of the non-album music from the film. At least that acapella Northern Cross. That really caught me off guard and blew me away (it's been my favorite fast Sheryl song for ages). At least, I don't remember it being on there, it's been awhile since I listened to it.
  2. I remember the Ohnogi debacle, but this is the first I've heard of this one. It disgusts me that fans would besmirtch a seiyuu purely out of shipping hatrid for her character. Just finished watching Sayonara no Tsubasa. 11-11-11 seemed like a good reason to encourage me to actually watch it, since I have a habit for not wanting to let shows "end". It's most definitely the ride I've heard it described as. I'm not sure where to begin, so I'll just note some quick thoughts. It basically grabs all the great moments of the end of the series, cuts the junk that didn't work or wasn't really explained (the whole Galaxy/Mishima stuff is a lot clearer and focused, and ties into the overall triangle better), turns classic scenes on their ear, and all around improves on most of the show. The characters work a lot better at times, with Sheryl being much more focused and even, and Ranka not as shy and waversome. It was great seeing Ranka mirror Sheryl's scene when Alto readies for the last battle, with none of Sheryl's illness hanging over him like that (though it was a bit of an odd time to confess anyway). While I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the triangle still, I saw it coming and around Ranka's confession, I just knew, (heck, the song on the album gives it away when you think about it, and I did) but it's a helluva lot stronger and better balanced than the TV version, so I can accept it easier than if they'd done so there. The ending itself had a bit of a heavy Zero vibe (they've really tied F into it, haven't they?), and was surprisingly bittersweet. It's great to see that they didn't pull the punches on the heavier notes of the show, again unlike the series. Even Sheryl's illness, which just didn't work for me, was much better handled and resolved here, and actually feels relevant. Don't get me wrong, I still love the TV show, and especially applaud it for having the ending it needed, despite angering the shippers, but at just 4 hours, the movies go a long way in cutting the fat that tended to bug me. It was especially nice to not see characters still acting like blind fools concerning the Vajra at the end. Also love all the past series nods. Isamu's cameo was awesome. I'm actually a bit sad to see Frontier finally end though. Still hoping to arrange some sort of screening with friends.
  3. One's the 1080p 5.1 AAC fansub, the other an alternate quality audio file for said sub. As for quality, I mostly know Commie for crunchyroll stuff, so I'm not sure how their translations are. It just came out too, so I doubt anyone's gone over it with a finetoothed comb. We'll get plenty more subs to choose from, I'm sure.
  4. Not everyone watches a subbed file the day it comes out. I know I won't be watching it anytime soon since I want to see it on the family plasma instead of the cheap laptop. I also need to watch the first one actually subbed. There's already plenty of mild spoilers floating around here though, so it's fast becoming an avoidable thread. MKA is an audio file. You downloaded the alternate lossless audio stream. I take it is says "FLAC"? If you grabbed it from their website it's JUST the audio.
  5. You've got some spoilers in your post regarding Grace, VF-18S Hornet. Maybe even in those pics.
  6. Well, if anyone's willing to come up to Modesto, I have a 50" Plasma that it looks divine on. I'm sure I could set up something assuming we stay the small group we usually are.
  7. Indeed. I seem to remember his stance being that both the original SDF Macross TV and DYRL were "based on the true story" of Space War One. Why would Frontier be any different. There's a true story out there, but we'll never really see it. For me, I'll see which one I like more and add that to me personal canon. Though I'm one of the few that absolutely loved how the original triangle ended anyway.
  8. I'd say with the second film out, it's about time for some sort of viewing party. Anyone interested, gentlemen?
  9. Probably full of spoilers in the comments too. I haven't come this far for some jerk on Youtube to blab, so sir.
  10. Opening was nice. Laughs at preview trailer misdirection. That's probably the end of it for me until subs.
  11. My internet's been dowm as we're sloppily switched to U-verse. It's finally back up in time to grab this film. I know I'll be at least watching the beginning raw. Subs can't come soon enough.
  12. I watched the first one raw, but since this one drastically changes up things even more than the first, I think I'll wait for a sub for the first full playthrough. I'd love to arrange some sort of viewing party. I've actually yet to see the first one subbed.
  13. Completed that set ages ago minus all the Sizzler colors (I have White). Good set, though my Gunbuster is a little worse for wear. Be careful switching the hands out. I'm not all that bothered by the lack of subs on the set. I have my USR tapes and numerous fansub copies. I usually just watch my R0, which is raw itself. If you're posting in this thread, you probably don't NEED subs to watch it anyway. A7, glad to hear the framerate wasn't intentional. It really jarred the action up.
  14. If it's a single tail that's the stumbling block, go with the P-38 Lightning. Double points to as it's the technical namesake of the VF-4. There's also the P-61 Black Widow and the Twin Mustang, both lesser known designs. Personally, I'd love to see some bomber designs or WWII styling on Macross Valks (actual nose art and markings instead of those full body monstrosities).
  15. Was wondering why this wasn't in the old thread. I'll need to see about picking this up. Love the shoddy misnomer on ANN's writeup. Where'd you find that figure, Mar? Must add to the collection. Shame it looks like it doesn't include episode 6 parts, but they never do.
  16. 260 bucks is way too much for any normal figure in my book, but if you feel she was worth it, than it's a good price. It all depends on how scarce she becomes too.
  17. Network19 posted it up above. The guy also has the guard training moments and such. Though you don't get the glowing Ai-kun.
  18. So it pans out? That makes me feel better. I've only bought one thing from them, a Figma. The Ranka looks pretty good. I went with the Sheryl as the odds were better of Ranka still being there when I went back (3 copies compared to 1), and I liked the concept (the base in particular). I really need to build up my Ranka collection anyway. I find it hilarious how many Sheryls I have.
  19. Never saw the Megaroad so clearly. Never realized how odd she looked. Interesting project, though it almost looks sculpted out of Styrofoam.
  20. http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=english&vgForm=ProductInfo&sku=BOK-3792&template=default/product/e_display.html Typical. No sooner that I spend 25 at Kinokuniya for it, that I find it at AmiAmi for 4 bucks plus shipping, so roughly half that. Ranka's sold out too.
  21. Looks all around shinier. I like the gear base. Adds something to it since it's so damn wide to begin with. The real rarity is the repaint in red and blue. Found it on MFC. Mandarake wants over a 100 for it.
  22. It'd be nice to get a full PS3 game.
  23. I believe they are the same. Gives more people a chance to catch it.
  24. I want to go back for the Ranka if I can talk myself into spending another 25 bucks on such a small figure. My amazement at it still being there was probably what sold me. Also liked the new art books. Though a lot of the Sheryl one threw me for a loop, but that's another thread.
