  1. Speaking of the Megaroad so much, I re-colored my version. I was never happy with it, so I spent some time experimenting with PS and learned a few new techniques. NEW Megaroad-01 I changed the lines inside the dome area from black to grey I used a light blue for the interior structures/buildings rather than dark blue The glass was done using a large diffused brush, the polygon selection tool and a more greenish-blue color I added a layer of tiny yellow lights to the interior dome city I also did various other corrections outside the dome area Old Megaroad-01
  2. I specifically said magazines Zinjackerland, not line art books. And like I said, it's not the DPI that's the problem. It's sharpness, contrast and color. I'd agree a comparison would be great to prove the theory, but how am I to obtain the same Japanese magazines? I'm pretty sure it's just his scanner. But anyway, we can't complain, I was just hoping we might help him out. I'd contribute some for a good cause.
  3. It's also important to note that the other Megaroads are not shown launching from Earth OR Eden. Megaroads 03, 05, 07, 08 10, 11, 12 are never seen in the Macross Frontier prologue. So where were these missing Megaroads built and from where were they launched?
  4. The opening is a little lengthy. Over a minute before the pod cast even begins. Just an opinion, if it's helpful.
  5. I was wondering where the heck you went Here I go out of my way to make a scan for ya and you even come back...hahahaha Just kidding. I'm looking forward to seeing new work on your model. Best of luck!
  6. I'm not seeing retcon either, in this particular situation. That's not to say Kawamori and Co. haven't done so because we all know they do love to spit in the face of continuity. I'm just not seeing it here. As for the fleets, assuming there were other colony fleets besides the Megaroad fleets isn't necessarily a bad guess, it's just assuming a bit too much. We don't know if other colony ship classes existed and given that we are 25 years into the franchise, I think we're somewhat forced to stick with the most plausible and unifying theory that there were more than 13 Megaroads. And as mikezekely has noted, one cannot include all 13 New Macross Class ships because Macross' 8-13 weren't constructed yet for inclusion into the count towards the 37th Fleet. We have 13 Megaroads and 7 New Macross ships = 20 colony fleets possible in the count towards 37th. This leaves 17 colony fleets left to account for. I think it makes most sense to say they were Megaroads, IMO.
  7. The resolution is fine, even if it displays the limits of the printed page. It's the sharpness, contrast, and color scan that is poor. I'm certain it's your scanner, Graham. If I compare magazines I've scanned from my cheapy scanner (purchased last year for $80) to the scans you've made (no image manipulation, just scanned in default mode) the difference is very noticable. Maybe we should help you out. A new scanner fund. Everyone pitch in $5.
  8. Just watched the Macross Frontier prologue. The prologue shows Macross 07 launching from Earth in sometime after 2012. Either these ships are early colony vessels or their launches just aren't meant to be in synch with the date 2012. I'd probably go with the latter, since these ships are shown all launching at once and we know they weren't; they were constructed over years. Hence the prologue is to be taken as a "time flexible" display. The prologue shows Macross 03, Macross 04, Macross 05 and Macross 07 launching from Earth. The prologue also shows Megaroad 01, Megaroad 02, Megaroad 04, Megaroad 06, Megaroad 09, and Megaroad 13 launching from Earth. Lastly, a fleet called M-Frontier is launched from Earth. Later, it then shows Macross 06, Macross 09, Macross 15, Macross 17, Macross 20 and a few more I simply can't make out launching from Eden. It also shows fleet M-Frontier (designated 025) meeting with the fleet titled M-Galaxy (designated 021, launched from Eden). So, as far as I can tell, it doesn't help explain the fleet number gap between Megaroad 13 and Macross 7 as the 37th Long Distance Fleet. At this point, we still have to assume there were more Megaroads after 13 to account for the difference
  9. Really? How many Megaroads does MF Ep #1 say exist?
  10. The RPG books are near useless. They pull numbers out of thin air. The MII RPG books claim the Mardook mothership is 50 km in size, a figure that anyone watching the anime can tell you is bogus. Best not to rely upon those books.

    VF-25 Fanart

Wow, that was fast. Wasn't expecting to see any Macross Frontier fan art for a while yet. Very nice!
  12. Best picture evar
  13. Little better pictures and they are much bigger. Graham, we need to buy you a better scanner
  14. azrael Yep, the Macross 25 is back to a single New Macross Class ship. Personally, I'd tend to believe most fleets have only one Battle/City combo. But that's just me. briscojr84 Personally, I try to avoid using the losses in the anime as a gauge for the fleet count, since the creators do away with a ridiculously repetitive number of ships and fighters. It becomes impossible to reconcile recycled animation. Even a strict count, recycled animation and all, wouldn't solve the question and I personally believe it wouldn't match what the creators had in mind anyway. Still, this is all just guess and impression, so no answer is technically wrong (within reason of course). Zinjidders I don't know. That's the figure they mentioned in the anime and they weren't specific. If the fleet count did include fighters (average 30-40 fighters per ship), that would reduce the Varauta fleet down to about 1,000 to 2,000 ships and the rest fighters. Possible. However, it's just as likely refers to the large ships. Macross has always featured ridiculous fleet numbers. It could be either way. I tend to believe they simply followed theme and it refers to ships only. I wonder, would the Macross 25 have 25 pill ships attached in total?
  15. Oh my gawd...that looks so funny and awful and stupid. I was laughing throughout the whole thing. Probably gonna see this one against my better judgment

    Macross Revoltech

No, I'm not. Animeigo uses Reguld. That's where I got it from.
  17. I believe the 500 to 1 figure was referring to the Meltrandi fleet (not the Varauta) in Macross 7 Encore, the episode "Fleet of the Strongest Women." Might have to double check that one to be sure.
  18. For what Animeigo was actually capable of doing, they did a great job. This isn't a major distributor with deep pockets producing product that is going to sell to a lot of consumers. Animeigo had to actually plan this DVD release carefully and had to demand top dollar for the sets just to turn a profit. A certain number of pre-orders had to be met before they even committed to go ahead and they couldn't afford to use the best of everything, including materials. Their release probably made future products like the ADV set possible. DT is right, we got lucky on this one. It could have easily never have happened; VERY easily.
  19. Welcome to Macross World Jackiman Ack! Robotech! How terrible hehehe Well, going by what blows up in Macross 7 is not really a good measurement of anything. They probably blew up more fighters than the ships actually carry Seriously, I don't think solid numbers are ever provided for the size of the Macross 7 fleet. At least not as far as I'm aware from the anime or the Macross Compendium. As far as the Macross 7 anime is concerned, there appeared to be roughly one of each type of support vessel (Three Star Factory Ship, Einstein Research Ship, West Point Class Macro-Training Base Ship, etc) and multiple vessels of the Bolognese Stealth Frigates and Uraga Class Escort Carriers. Battle 7 and CIty 7 are the only New Macross Class ships in the fleet. However, it should be noted the Macross 5 fleet actually had three New Macross Class ships, so a single New Macross Class ship per fleet is not a rule. The Macross 5 fleet also featured Zentradi ships. The anime does confirm the Macross 7 fleet was vastly outnumbered by the Varauta and the official literature states the Varauta fleet was some 70,000 vessels in size. So the Macross 7 fleet could be any thing beneath that. Personally, I was always under the impression the Macross 7 fleet was somewhere around 50-100 ships. Btw, if you need to see some pictures, make sure to check out my website (see the link in my signature below). It has plenty of good stuff for Macross fans
  20. Indeed. And thank you for the praise. I like several of the artists you've mentioned. Bob Marley (don't you love how Reymond Marley in Macross Plus was modeled after Bob?), Miles Davis, Ray Charles, James Brown, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Police, Radiohead...all stuff I love. Do you like John Lee Hooker? I like some of his stuff too. I'm also a big fan of Massive Attack and I like some Aphex Twin as well. I'm a little embarrassed to say I've not heard much by Boards of Canada, which is a rarity since I'm typically up on most homegrown rock. Have you listened to any other canuck artists? The Hip? New stuff like Broken Social Scene or Feist? I also have a big soft spot for UK rock whether it's older stuff or newer stuff from The Kinks, to The Clash to Oasis to Stereophonics. Any classical music preferences? Dvorak, Holst, that kind of thing?
  21. Very interesting list miriya I think I found a kindred spirit on these boards with respect to the vast landscape of music I enjoy Decades or genres generally mean very little to me; music stands or falls on it's own merits.

*dies* The Reguld is brilliance. I really like the picture on one leg. Must have a Reguld!
  24. It's a known issue, but I've not had it happen to my discs. Still, I think people are overreacting on this one. Yes, all us pre-order costumers paid a lot of money for these sets, but it's not the end of the world. By the time our discs become so bad as to become unplayable, SDFM will be available on a much better home video format with far superior audio and video quality to DVD. Or, fortune allowing, will be on digital download.
