  1. I would imagine by now given the amount of times that a VF has had to rescue standard size humans the operating system has been programmed to recognise when the VF is holding a human in its manipulator and adapt accordingly.
  2. Pre-order placed.
  3. Forgot I'd actually ordered these, just received a payment request from HLJ. Oh well, they are cheap enough that even though they look really shitty, might as well keep them to tide me over until the TomyTecs and Bandai DXs come out. Graham
  4. These are just looking better and better
  5. Or even if one can't read the English word "Sticker"
  6. So are these up for pre-order anywhere yet?
  7. Oh dear. Think I'm gonna pass and wait for the Tomy Tech instead.
  8. Yeah, those are the micro-missile launch ports on the legs.
  9. Just I find it interesting that the anime shows them exiting from fold, with no sign of a mother ship. Yes, I guess they could have either launched from a mother ship just prior to coming out of fold or be traveling outside the mother ship, using it's fold bubble/tunnel etc (whatever the term is these days). It would be cool though if fold drives have been miniaturized enough to fit inside the Sv-262s. Which leads to the next questions, if they have, then what is the recharge time between folds and maximum fold distance? Graham

    Bandai DX VF-31

I still prefer the VF-31F as to me it's the best compromise between low-vis and having some colour, but without being too flashy. And it's got the Grim Reaper on it........Mwahahaha. Graham
  11. I don't think this has been mentioned before, but the Sv-262 may be the first ever VF to feature an internal fold drive. We see the Sv-262's fold in, but there appears to be no externally mounted Fold Booster. Neither do we see them jettison a Fold Booster. Graham
  12. I tend to discount any information that is non-official. So yeah I treat the Master Files and other such non-official sources as fanfic (but with pretty pictures)......LOL. I can't remember if Macross the Ride is considered canon or not. I didn't mention the SDF-1's rail guns on purpose, as the discussion was about VFs, not capital ships. But anyway, a pod mounted rail gun for dog fighting would make sense for many reasons as long as it cold have a high enough rate of fire. Having the VF-31's arm guns being rail guns would also have the advantage of having them being able to draw power from the VF, than user a separate powerpack/capacitor system for power.
  13. My favorite scene was Mirage's rescue of Hayate's VF-171. My favorite scene will only ever be mecha scenes.....haha Anyway, love the music in that scene.
  14. Hang on, excluding the railgun gunpods and SAP-mounted railgun used by the VF-2SS in Macross II, which is not in the same continuity anyway, what rail guns have we seen in the main Macross timeline? The only two railguns I can think of are Michael's 55mm SSL-9B Dragunov sniper rifle and the 4 large mounted Shinnakasu/Vigors 320mm railguns on the VB-6 in Macross Frontier. I certainly don't remember any other railgun gunpods. Graham
  15. I doubt it detaches. At least I hope not. Doesn't look large enough to actually hold any ammo if it does.
  16. I'm kinda disappointed that Bandai can't even get something as simple as this released in time for the start of the show.
  17. I think the Windows blacking out was done on purpose to prevent Freya looking outside and seeing that everything in the city looked normal and realising in fact their was no VAR outbreak.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Two episodes in and I'm down for one of each toy now.......haha
  19. Well, if the TomyTec GIMIX 1/144 pre-painted kits are accurate to Kawamori's design, it looks like the arm guns attach to a white box structure that is partially recessed into the front of the forearm. It would make sense for this to be the magazine. Although that box structure would also have to accommodate the swivel mechanism that allows the guns to rotate back 180° on the forearm.
  20. Even though there could be a certain amount of ammunition miniaturization due to advances in more efficient propellants, telescopic cased ammo or caseless ammo etc, there is only so much you can shrink a large calibre shell. A 30mm shell is a 30mm shell after all and takes up a certain amount of physical space even if the VF-31 is only carrying say 120rds or 150rds per gun for example and those arm guns just don't look big enough to be holding the ammoin the external part of the gun on the arm.
  21. Yep, I know, understand and agree with all that. But I'm still curious where the ammunition is physically stored though and I'm hoping Kawamori actually did factor space for ammunition storage in his design.
  22. I'm definitely gonna be buying the fighters.
