Macross Δ (Delta) - Mission 25 - READ 1st POST

I've been a Macross fan since 1982. In the last 3+ decades I've steadfastly loved and supported the franchise, even and especially the red-haired step child's of the franchise; Macross II and Macross 7. But honestly speaking, for the first time ever since I fell in love with Macross, I feel no compelling or urgent desire to watch this latest episode of Macross Delta Sure, I'll watch it eventually, but it's not like in the past where I'll use any and all methods to watch a new episode as soon as I can. -

Honestly, if any MacrossWorlder's get to attend a Q&A session with Kawamori, don't go easy on him. In fact rip him a new one! How could he allow Delta to spiral so far out of control after episode 13, into the talking-head, no mecha action crapfest it's become in the second half of the season? Seriously, he may be the creator and all that, but with the mess that Delta has become post episode 13, he's lost all good will and credibility that he'd previously built up. As others have speculated, I'm guessing he was attracted by the quick and easy dollars from Mainland China for his next project and left Delta in the hands of people who have no clue. -

There's no such thing as "bullet proof", only bullet resistant. What's the ballistic rating of Walkure's suits? What's it spec'd against.... pistol ammo, rifle ammo, AP rounds etc? Too many possible various without knowing details. -

Obviously whoever transformed it didn't rotate the nose to the correct position.

Tech specs of VF-31A Kairos and VF-31C Siegfried from the TomyTec 1/144 scale kits. Is that a micro-missile capacity of 36 I see? I wonder if these specs give additional detail beyond the Bandai 1/72 kit pamphlet? -
I really like the boxes on these.

My swag haul. Will start building today. Gonna start with Mirage first, as a test build as that's the one I care least about if I mess up anything.

The holosuits may only have a set number of pre-programmed outfits loaded into the memory. Xaos/Walkure doesn't seem bright enough to come up with the idea of using the holosuits as Predator style active camoflage. -

I'm guessing Mari's tweet is probably related to voice acting work for the PS Vita Macross Scramble game and not related to the Delta TV series. -

Yeah, I also wondered about that. Far more efficient to search for people using thermal imaging (IR) technology, rather than search lights . Living bodies against a snowy background are gonna stand out like a sore thumb! -

If I remember correctly, they warned us that the tone would change drastically after episode 1 or 2, which it didn't really until after Messer's death. I also seem to recall the said we'd see some really cool choreography for the atmospheric dogfights, but that really didn't happen much, unless you count glowing light trails scissoring in the distance as "really cool". -
I think we all know the real reason now why this game only covers the events of up to episode 13. It's because there's no bloody mecha action in the show after that

This is the first time in the history of Macross, that I have now officially lost interest in a Macross anime and am no longer excited for each new episode. Heck, I'm not even calling it Macross Delta any more. To me it's now been renamed "The Walkure Show". Too many things handled badly, which I'm not gonna list as I'd just be repeating what many of us have already been complaining about. I still love the VF-31 design, just a pity it's been so underutilized. I'm curious what Japanese fans are saying about the show. -

Actually, we've seen the VF-31 use the beam gunpod in their hands a few times, but it's mostly a blink and you'll miss it ocurrence. -
Yeah that's what I did, ordered the VF-31J Battroid, Fighter and Gerwalk kits, so I can have all three modes.

Do we have a confirmed episode count for the series yet? 25, 26 or 27 episodes in total? We know it's going to come out on 9 discs, which at 3 episodes per disc gives us a maximum of 27 episodes, or if the last disc only has 1 episode could be the series is only gonna be 25 episodes. -
A couple of questions.......... Do these require glue to build or can they just be snapped together without using any glue? If you build the gerwalk mode, is it possible to latter disassemble it and rebuild it as fighter or battroid? Or are the parts too small and likely to break if you try to disassemble it once built?
-
As I understand it, they are pre-painted model kits with some limited pose-ability, with most of the markings pre-applied, but they still need to be cut off the spru and assembled and I would think that some or most of the parts need to be glued (but we won't know until we get it in hand). If you buy the fighter mode kit, it contains parts for building fighter mode only. If you buy the battroid mode kit it contains parts for building battroid mode only. If you buy the Gerwalk kit, from what I understand it includes parts for both fighter and battroid and you use parts from both to build a gerwalk mode. Now after building the kits, whether you can unassemble them and parts-form them into alternate modes is unknown. But judging from the pics I've seen of the TomyTec VF-1 kits on their sprus, I don't think they'd survive much parts-forming. They are still small scale model kits so are gonna be fairly fragile. I would think once you have built them, they need to stay in the mode they have been built in.
-
I can live with the smaller scale. I'm actually completely out of display space for the TomyTecs or Delta DXs anyway. I'm probably gonna have to retire my old and extremely floppy Yamato VF-0 and SV-51 1/60 Mac Zero toys to storage to make space for a Delta display.

It's gonna be interesting to see how good these things are and whether they can replace my need for the transforming DX Delta toys. Looking at my invoice from HLJ, it's made me realise that I"m getting the VF-31A/J/C fighters, VF-31J battroid and VF-31J gerwalk all for about the same price as one DX toy, so that's 5 non-transforming, pre-painted and mostly pre-marked models for the price of 1 DX. And given that at this time the VF-31J DX is pretty unobtainable and is causing me stress because I can't obtain it, the TomyTec kits are looking more attractive as alternatives to the DX. These days I rarely transform my transformable toys anyway, maybe 2-3 times when I first get them and then they mostly remain in one mode. The key with the TomyTec's will be how durable they are. I know they are model kits, so will be more fragile, but hopefully they can survive being swooshed around and handled a bit.

Just got shipping notification from HLJ
