So far I do think Bandai did a bit of reverse-engineering with their VF-171EX.

It's sad that Bandai still keeps using weak paint for their Macross stuff. Even my Hi-Metal 19S had a considerable amount of black paint chipped off on the black area of the nose while completing the chest area on Battroid transformation. And the chin also does damage since there's barely any posability on the neck.

I do wish they would really reconsider the Fast Packs. I'm just planning to get a VF-1S Hikaru and the last thing I wanna do is take out my Max 1A's FPs, take off the blue skull stickers. and replace them with Hikaru's red skull stickers. Getting the bundles and reselling is quite a risk, seeing that there's hardly a market for DYRL 1A Max and Kakizaki.

Pushing the legs inward would dislodge those tabs very well out of the way when transforming from Fighter to Gerwalk/Battroid. Those leg tabs did scare me at times since I like to have them placed behind those four smaller tabs underneath the plane's nose when standing the Battroid straight up.

Still waiting for the 1S Hikaru on July. Not sure if I should rush into a 1J Hikaru with the option parts since I'm aiming to give it the Armor Parts which has its own set of side covers. Maybe I should just wait for a 1A Kakizaki TV with option parts so that I get to complete the Vermilion team with at least one TV shade of side covers. Anyway, was the Vermilion team actually without Roy? I mean just Hikaru as the leader with Max and Kakizaki?

Probably not, it's only less half of my Rei collection, most of which are kept in boxes because they are too big for the cabinet. She's one of my most favorite female anime character, that's why. Yeah, I want to maximize the spaces with VF-1's since four of them can fit in one. I still need to have a riser made like the one on the top right, though. I actually moved the 1D to that empty space so that the top-right shelf would be a Max-only space. Still hoping Yamato would reissue the 1J.

Here's my current collection except for the Queadluun-Rau Max which I had in another cabinet. This cabinet was initially designed for Zoids, so it's also good for Valks in Fighter mode since it's deep but only has a low vertical clearance (which is why I display only in Fighter). Still working on selling off my Zoids since I grew tired of them and I just want to fill this mostly with Valks.

I actually meant a different thing about "hollow spaces," which are the part I highlighted in this photo: But never mind. Your explanation actually clarified to me how the whole connection works so it's all clear. I think I just didn't see those hollow spaces on my Kai since the legs are still attached.

@MacrossJunkie, on the first photo, is that exactly how it looked after you detached the leg? I think there's a difference in the leg mold in the sense that the 19S has some sort of hollow spaces around the screw. I wonder if that has anything to with the breakage. Sorry if I'm asking too much, I'm just too concerned. I really wish this is just an isolated case.

It's kinda scary to know that the whole leg relies on that connection. I did check my Kai and it seems that the washer was metal. I wonder why it's black plastic on the 19S. The plastic surrounding the said screw was also different on the Kai. On which kind of pose did you leave it in?

Did you actually mean the screws I focused on this shot? Because upon checking mine, there was some tiny, tiny wear just beside one of those screws because of the huge washers that brush against the plastic whenever I move wing joint. And does yours still hold well in Fighter mode after the breakage?

So far that's the only report we've gotten. I felt a bit scared, tried to pull down my 19 Kai's legs down at the knee, and it's all fine. I did try pulling down up to the Gerwalk joint a few weeks ago and it was fine. I hope it's just a rare case like what happened to Bandai's Renewal VF-25 hip bars.

Makes me wonder if Bandai just wants to avoid overstock of items, or all they want is to feed their toy quality egos by seeing their DXs in jacked up prices by eBay opportunists.

Really neat and simple display. I wish I have a cabinet that can accommodate a Battroid. I so want my VF-1D in Battroid.

In my case, the metal bar on my 1D did suffer some tiny scratches since closing the panel on mine was a bit too tight. And even if the metal bar has locked inside the nose, it still seems to "fight out" when posing, making the panel open a little bit. But it doesn't open the panel as much as my other two v.2 Valks which had the first type of crotch. The bad thing I noticed with the first crotch design was that the hinge just above the legs needs to be loosened a bit before going to Battroid. I didn't try to loosen mine a bit when I went to Battroid on my VF-1A Max, and I struggled a lot to get it out of the nose when going back to Gerwalk/Fighter. No matter how much I swung the legs, instead of the hinge popping out of the nose, the legs just simply rotated at the hip. It's really good that they reverted to the 1/48 style crotch where you can just pop the damn hinge in and out as you go. No more fancy leg swinging just to get it out of the nose.

^ couldn't agree with you more. I myself want to get that 1J and 1S Hikaru since I still don't have a Hikaru unit. I only have 3 of Max's units and the 1D at my current collection.

So it was you who got it. I just asked this morning about the stock and there was none left. Luckily, I still passed by and they just had a new delivery of it.
