  1. Nah, I'm pretty sure there are still CDs out there with DRM on 'em.
  2. Hmm? When did Kaiyodo switch over to clear stands? Also, Sorry.
  3. You know Amazon mix their DVD and Blu-Ray reviews together, right?
  4. Predator first comes to mind, and Ghostbusters I & II. Can't think of any TV shows at the moment, sorry. Just look up the AVS forums for a tier list of Blu-Rays and check out other Blu-Ray review sites to get a general idea of the quality. I'm still kinda bummed that they added noise reduction to the extended version of Terminator 2 (and everything else).
  5. Hmm, I remember the original C&C and Generals more fondly than the other games. Though in Red Alert, it's quite a kicking laugh to see a small pack of attack dogs decimate an army GIs. Hmm, have you tried any of the patches, particularly unofficial patch 1.03?
  6. Other than console exclusives, we apparently also get store-specific exclusive fatalities... Amazon = Reptile Gamestop = Scorpion Best Buy = Sub-Zero http://kotaku.com/5712970/some-mortal-kombat-fatalities-only-available-in-certain-stores
  7. Well, you could buy an aftermarket VGA heatsink that is compatible to your video card. What video card is it?
  8. This. So much... But I'm not gonna spend that much money on a peripheral (yet). Also, I swear the guys at Polyphony Digital read my mind. I absolutely LOVE the option of importing your own music into the game.
  9. LOL, oh Kaito. Had me going at Yaranaika Balalaika and Yatta.
  10. Just bought a Canon MX870 soon after my Epson all-in-one decides to pull a phantom paper jam. Ugh. I had spare ink cartridges too--Well, except for yellow. Flipping through numerous manuals/pamphlets that came with my new ricecooker printer, I came across something boggling several times. Never plug the machine into a power socket that is shared with other equipment (extension lead/cord, 2- or 3-way adapter, etc.). Do not use an extension lead/cord. Insert the power cord into the connector on the left side at the back of the machine and into the wall outlet. Why? Why does Canon recommend plugging the printer directly into a wall socket and not an extension brick like any surge suppressor? What's the reasoning behind this? Or maybe am I just tired and not properly RTFM...? So, you got your new monitor to behave now? How do you like it after changing the settings?
  11. Looks like Miku and the rest of the Vocaloid family have been gaining notoriety worldwide due to the big Thank You concert back in March. Of course Miku's being mistakenly touted as a virtual singing hologram and not singing software by countless news outlets all over the world. Though there are few who actually did do their homework; surprisingly including CNN this time around. Not only that, Hatsune Miku is even getting an English release soon. The World will certainly be Her's for the taking. Holy poo, that's pretty impressive if the animator really did painstakingly redo all the choreography. Since we're always on the subject of PVs in this thread , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFU7Won6Gto&hd=1 Probably one of the best animations with jaw-droppingly gorgeous models that came out of Nico Nico.
  12. And so we have new pictures of the Figma Hitagi of Bakemonogatari fame. http://www.amiami.jp/shop/shop?vgForm=ProductInfo&sku=FIG-MOE-2356&template=e_review.html&set=english
  13. I see that some of the stuff I hate are already covered... DRM, including. Damn this to hell. It's even worse if the rest of the video fails to load for some reason. I also like to extend this to the previews and trailers that play before the menu/movie on every goddamn DVD or Blu-Ray disc out there. Damn them harder if you can't skip them or if they're a PITA to skip (Hello District 9 Blu-Ray). PUT THEM IN THE fartING TRAILERS SECTION IN THE SPECIAL FEATURES SECTION! I'LL WATCH THEM WHENEVER I GIVE A FLYING fart ABOUT WHAT'S UPCOMING. Another technological pet peeve: Printers. Their reliability has seem to stay the same all these years. If they don't break down on you at all, it's the price of ink that'll kick you down. If I need to print in black and white, why do I need yellow ink? If you want continuous-ink system installed on your printer, you may have to perform surgery or chip replacement on your printer.
  14. Holy poo. Anyway, like I've noted in the Figma thread, I just got Professor Layton. While I really like the Layton figure himself and the accessories that came with him, I just can't help but think that Kaiyodo ought do something about the smaller Revoltech joints. Every time I (gently yet forcibly) rotate Layton's knees, I get the uneasy feeling that they'll snap since the joint likes to flex... alot. Maybe it's just the illusion and that they really are sturdy... Has anyone ever had a Revoltech joint break or heard of it?
  15. Strangely, I can't stomach watching Index II on a weekly basis, it feels like I can only watch it all at once... But I'll deal with it, so bring on more! Anyway, I finally gave Panty & Stocking another go. My brother and I absolutely dig the series. Also watched Summer Wars. This is really something I feel that everyone should watch and own. I'm not sure I'll be able to go see it in theatres but I'm definitely looking forward to the US Blu-ray release. It be kinda neat to see the movie win an Academy too. From Funimation's blog site, for those interested:
  16. They are indeed special releases (Nendoroids too) exclusive to select stores like Nico Nico and Animate (all of which don't do international shipping). Some stores (like Play-Asia) middleman them, of course at higher prices. Otacute seems to be the only store that sell Touhou Figmas and Nendos (and other exclusives) the cheapest. As of typing this, they have Figma Sakuya and Nendo Remilia in stock, while Nendo Flandre and Youmu, and Figma Aya are up for pre-order. I wish I knew about them when Reimu and Marisa were first released. They charge a bit more for pre-orders (roughly more than $40 not including shipping), but if you're willing to take a risk, they drop them back down during back-orders or whenever they're in stock. Otacute has a bit of a reputation too, in that when they first started, they shipped merchandise in flimsy beer boxes and their customer service was less than stellar. 4chan even fondly refers to them as Otakuza because of that initial image. However, all that's changed for the better and it seems that Otacute has been doing somersaults to clean up their image (so far as to include freebies with replacements in sturdier boxes) I was worried at first when I first ordered Sakuya, but I have to say that I would buy from them again when given the chance. Speaking of Otacute and Touhou exclusives, they happen to have the Volks Reimu and Marisa up for pre-order.
  17. I just got Dead Master and Revoltech Layton, and both Figma and Nendo Luka not too long ago. The accessories that came with the Figmas are fewer this time around, but their special items (scythe and tuna respectively) and the figmas themselves make up for that with personality. First time getting a Nendoroid too--Nendo Luka's pretty hefty, people weren't kidding when they say you could knock someone out with Nendoroids. Poseability's limited as expected, but coupled together with Takoluka, adorability is way off the charts... I mean, every time I see promo pictures of upcoming Nendoroids, I feel like I'm going to die from sugar overload, they are that cute; especially the Touhou Nendoroids--Goddammn those Touhou Nendoroids. Surprisingly, I managed to snag Figma Marisa off of ebay for a "decent" price. She's new/sealed in box and seems to be authentic. While she doesn't have the poseability of BRS, the Marisa Figma gives BRS the run for her money with accessories. Strangely, when concerning the Touhou Figmas I'm 2-for-2 when it comes to missing a fist and getting duplicate holding-hand... It's funny. I'll take pictures of all of them soon. I need to get off my lazy bum and stop being sidetracked by other things.
  18. Heads up guys, Amazon has Evangelion 1.11 on Blu-Ray for $10. http://www.amazon.com/Evangelion-1-11-You-Alone-Blu-ray/dp/B0030ZOYHC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291056128&sr=8-1
  19. A small heads up, Dell has a 30% off coupon for consumer monitors. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2394705 Coupon code: SF8HZ80?4L5LLW
  20. Speaking of Firefox, recently, I noticed that flash doesn't play very nicely with Firefox sometimes... Leave the browser open for awhile and when you run flash video or any other flash media, the browser becomes unresponsive. I think someone here pointed it out the problem too.
  21. Fixed! I like how the comma in the address actually breaks the entire thing. A couple of articles of mention: Japan's newest most life-like Gynoid is part of a play. Zombie virus spreads all over China. [edit]ffffuuuu- it did it again!
