  1. Past hour
  2. Either that or it was a drunken Seinfeld moment. Whyyyyy are real robots sooo big? It’s not like they’re fighting kaijus or anything…..they’re not super robots anymore……🥴 personally I’ve always thought votoms were a rather perfect size. Not big enough to end up easy targets and just big enough to stomp a dude
  3. Big s

    Macross Books

That’s what I was thinking. Just hoping my translator works, cause I’m really interested in the process from back in the pre computer days for sci fi kits, especially at the high level of cool with those Imai kits
  4. Today
  5. That crazy family, always getting frozen and woken up years later
  6. I just had a crazy thought:
  7. *Imagines Tekering looking in a window, and some lady who just got out of the shower screaming her head off and running for dear life!*
  8. My personal belief is that at some point, someone criticized having giant robots in anime series and it hit Kawamori-san badly (either Macross or something else he was working on). After that (one or perhaps multiple incidents), he began developing in-story reasons why they are necessary. JMO.
  9. Just a couple of quick pics in fighter
  10. I’d love to see that one, also wouldn’t mind if Bandai did it for their hg series
  11. Sprue shots already appearing.
  12. Even more Plamax BTS!
  13. Ah ... The VE-1 Elintseeker - I remember building mine like yesterday. It is a really rewarding build. I had everything down in sections, as the Hasegawa kit would allow it to be build. And then when everything came together, it was like a beautiful marriage. Have fun man, this is such a nice kit
  14. Wait a minute ... is that a kit or do you scratch build this? Either way that is a crazy project hahaha XD
  15. That looks awesome. The DYRL Nousjadeul-Ger is probably my favorite Zentradi mecha design. I don't normally buy and build model kits these days, but in lieu of any Nousjadeul-Ger toy, I'm definitely gonna get this kit.
  16. It certainly would. A heavy matte coating is the only way to ensure stickers stay put (or look halfway-decent). 😉 The condo's starting to take shape... I need to rely on the force of gravity to hold these acrylic panels together until they're securely bonded, so the orientation (be it face-down or upside-down) is temporarily dictated by distribution of weight... ...and I need to make use of whatever's on-hand heavy enough (like the bicycle) to support the walls, at least until the glue starts to set. I'm glad somebody thinks so. My wife thinks I'm certifiable, spending hundreds of dollars on a model that's too big to assemble (much less display) in the house. 😅
  17. Oh man - that happens when you type up stuff when tired, and on phone using sausage fingers. Hahaha What I meant to say was, that the PLAMAX stickers came off after a night, like peeling themselves off on the vertical stabilizers and the little fins on the engine bays. So I was using the water slide decals for these parts instead. @tekering Yeah, I have the super strong stuff. But for stickers (not water slide decals) it would just dilute and dissolve the adhesive of the stickers. @derex3592 Yeah, right? I believe that was the intention from PLAMAX. The kit comes in different colors, so it is more of an entry grade kit that doesn't need much painting. As I've said a like two years ago. The PLAMAX VF-1 is a really nice kit and I would recommend it to anyone.
  18. Hasegawa in playing a blinder atm. At the risk of wish listing, the Zentradi power armour from Macross Plus’s would be amazing.
  19. Lots of good SF designs. The Gunstar was also influential in my youth. Another one that stuck with me is the "Trimaxion Drone ship" from Flight of the Navigator. The effects used to make it were also groundbreaking in 1986—probably why it was so memorable: https://propstore.com/product/flight-of-the-navigator/trimaxion-drone-ship-model-with-replacement-animation-morphing-stair-sequence/ Not sure who designed it, but what appeared on screen was very inspired and inspiring. Found some images on the evolution of the design. Glad they went with the polished/brushed steel. It's truly a less-is-more when it comes to surface detailing.
  20. I have a love hate for the robot Jox, crash and burn and other movies in that series. They’re fun trash and the robots are cool yet goofy at the same time and are the real stars of the films
  21. Description from hobbysearchdidnt find any info about it opening to reveal a pilot
  22. Up for preorder at the usual spots
  23. Would be remiss to ignore one of the more contemporary influential mech designers in the west, Aaron Beck. Responsible for a decent chunk of Avatar, District 9, Call of Duty IW. Kind of the originator of the "tacticool" hard surface concept art trend of the 2010s.
  24. Graham

    DX Chogokin VF-17S

What worries me is that this is a further sign that moving forward, Bandai's DX design team is just going to half-ass things more and more with the DX line. We already saw this to a certain extent with some of the design choices on the YF-21 and with the VF-17S, they have gone into full on lazy and cost saving mode.
