If this truly becomes a reality, Michael Mann will have no choice but to include a shoot-out scene just like the original in that "extra loud" blanks are used outdoors, around buildings for that blistering echo effect and causes the movie theaters & your eardrums to rumble... otherwise, don't bother.

While HEAT is 30 years old now (where did the time go?), it's possibly one of the most acclaimed crime-dramas ever made and that shootout scene in downtown LA is legendary.

While I'm sure it will be made well HEAT2 is a sequel that movie goers never asked for. Hollywood is truly out of ideas...

Not sure why they even have to go there. Leo has been a bit chubby lately, is he just gonna roll after his enemies?

No; he'll devour them. Maybe they should call it Eat instead. :p

He’s a little chubby now, but this is starting to turn into a Pac-Man post public domain horror movie

Interesting.  I wonder if this is going to follow the book and jump timelines past and forward from the original movie. It could be good , if Mann gets the budget he needs.

Coincidentally, I'm just watching Mann's 1981 neo-noir classic and Proto-Heat movie "Thief". James Caan's hard working criminal, rain-soaked night streets and Tangerine Dream's memerizing soundtrack still hit hard. The streaming version has excellent picture quality.

Michael Mann Talks AI Use In ‘Heat 2’ & Theatrical Implications Of Move From Warner Bros. To Amazon MGM-United Artists: “It Will Absolutely Be Released Theatrically”

Quote

"Earlier in the conference, Mann was asked (by Deadline) about his opinion on AI and whether he had or planned to use the technology, given his reputation for being at the cutting edge of using new technological advances in his work throughout his career."

"He said he had not used the technology as yet but was mulling the use of AI in Heat 2 to support the aging and de-aging process of the characters of Detective Vincent Hanna, Neil McCauley and Chris Shiherlis, with the film revisiting their stories prior to the original's 1995 setting."
