Gabe Q Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Lookin great! I'm amazed those decals are still viable after 20+ plus years since their release. Bravo! Quote
Goodman Models Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 Here’s some more progress on attaching the ordnance. Quote
Gabe Q Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Looks like it's almost ready to go. Love it! Keep up the good work! Quote
Goodman Models Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Still have a lot of flat coating to do, panel line pin wash, pilot figure and then on to the fight deck. Quote
Goodman Models Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 Quick update, had to put this on hold while I get some Reno’s down in my basement - my old shop space is totally gone and I’m setting up a temp space. Just a few little touches to wrap it up! Quote
Goodman Models Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 I got a little more done. I did manage to drop it when I was setting up my new space - breaking a wing, 1 mirror and knocking off one 500lb bomb. Repaired most of it and got the pilot assembled. Quote
Goodman Models Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 I’ve got the pilot and canopy ready to go. Will get new pics up soon! Quote
Goodman Models Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 Most of the fall damage has been repaired, figure are underway. Quote
Goodman Models Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 Out of the decal stash which I add to whenever I can. He may have been a real pilot, not sure! here’s another update: the carrier deck is underway. Quote

I’ve noticed that it’s hard to find pilot names in white font. Most real U.S. aircraft have black lettering on grey fuselages. I noticed recently while watching a modeling video that the F-117 had white names since the aircraft was black. I’m going to pick up a decal sheet to supply some names for VF-1s. The model is looking great! Edited May 8 by VF-1A Grunt Quote

Goodman Models Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 Not great photos as my set up is packed up but almost complete. Still refining the panel lining and maybe add some fine weathering. Quote
Goodman Models Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 (edited) Catapult deck under construction. I used the Italeri deck kit and elements of the Macross deck kit as reference to make this one up out of sheet stock. The italeri had certain parts doubled that won’t be needed in that build and I’m still debating using BDs from the resin kit or scratch building them. Edited May 31 by Goodman Models Content Quote

JNordgren42 Posted June 23 Posted June 23 This looks fantastic! Great work on both the Valkyrie and the base. I love the paint scheme, it's very unique. I plan on doing a catapult launch diorama with the Fine Molds F-4B I recently picked up and this gives me some great ideas on ways to construct the deck and blast deflectors. Quote
Goodman Models Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 Thanks for the kind words! Here’s an update: just a few things left to do, weathering the JBDs, paint the crew, etc. Quote
JNordgren42 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Nice work on the flight deck crew so far! Is this 1/72 scale? If so where did you get your crew? I'm looking at options for when I get around to building my Phantom launch diorama and these look pretty nicely detailed. Quote

They’re from an old Fujimi kit - there’s two kits: one with a fire truck and another with a tractor. You can get them from Hlj.com occasionally. Quote

tekering Posted Monday at 06:19 AM Posted Monday at 06:19 AM That's a unique and eye-catching color scheme, and your paint work is flawless... ...but somehow the canopy frame just looks wrong in green. 🤔 Quote

I suppose as long as the anti-glare panel is black or flat, the outside canopy colour should not impede the pilot's vision. Just wait till you see the next one, lol! Thom Posted Tuesday at 12:44 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:44 PM That is looking so good! And I just noticed the graffiti on the bomb! Quote
